PPI Reclaiming successes and failures

Hi all, just wanted to update you with my claim. I haven't been on much in the past fortnight as I had been getting a bit down... so many people were getting such positive results so quickly and Halifax were slow to respond (although within the 8 weeks it just felt long!) and on the 4-5 times I phoned nobody could/would update me via the telephone. Anyway, happily I got a letter from them this morning, I originally sent my questionnaire early June, got a letter from them on 14th June saying the matter would be investigated and that it could take up to 8 weeks for a conclusion... then nothing. Today I received a letter offering £1762.11. I am so delighted, as soon as the payment clears I am booking a holiday for next summer for my hubby and our two young girls. We have never been on holiday before and spend each month scrimping and saving to pay off our debts so I am being cheeky and booking a nice break for us instead of paying it off our loan.:o
So the figures are broken down as follows (on a £8000 loan that was paid off in 2006):
Refund of premiums £772.52
Refund of interest £121.45
Early settlement difference £341.90
Interest at 8% calculated up until 22 Aug 2012 £526.24
Thank you to everyone on this site for the reassurance, the advice, the support and the hope. For those of you still waiting, it won't be long now - enjoy the money whether it is spent frivilously or sensibly lots of love and happy thoughs :j0 -
Suited for you Natalie - have a fab holiday !!!!0

:j My PPI claim with the Halifax was successful.
I have to admit I did very little to get it. A phone call to the Halifax stating that I remember having loans with them in the late 90's...I was reaching with the dates...they said they would look into it given the little info I had.
Two weeks after my phone call a letter came stating the account numbers in question and the standard ' we will contact you within 8 weeks '.
Eight weeks later a letter and a cheque for £1,832.00...gob smacked !!!
One of the loans did not have PPI but one did....
Now on to Santander...who are playing hardball...:mad:0 -
Capital One CC (claim in progress)
I found i had PPI when I came across old statements (card paid off few years ago) and submitted claim as it was inappropriate for my needs. However, I have since come across older statements where PPI was not on them. Basically, i opened the Capital One Classic account in 2001 and PPI was not on it, but my account changed to a Gold Account circa 2005 where PPI started to appear. I fail to see why, if i didnt have PPI when i got the card in 2001 I would require it 4/5 years later - i was with the same employer, benefits were greater due to length of service. Has anyone else come across this scenario and what was the outcome of your claim?
Still waiting on MBNA to do their calculations. Can anyone tell me whether I get interest on the 2.5 years my account has been closed cos if i do they can take as long as they wish to calculate it!0 -

Having read Martins advice about claiming back PPI, I decided to give it ago, and i'm so glad i did. I sent a letter to Barclays and Sainsbury's and yesterday (7 weeks later) I had a letter from Barclays making me an offer of just over £2000 for mis sold PPI. I'm waiting to hear back from sainsbury's so i'll post again on here if i'm successful.
So Ive heard back from Sainburys and have received a cheque for just over £7k!!! I cant thank Martin Lewis enough for all the great advice and reading all the success stories from you guys!:j0 -
Finally a positive reply. Just opened a letter from barclaycard, full refund of ppi payments, interest, and 8%.
Sent a SAR to Barclays received my £10 cheque back with a letter saying "we presume this is re ppi, this is a record of all your accounts with us with an indicator of whether ppi was applied. this is all you need to make your claim"
Most account,s showed no ppi but tucked away was a barclaycard account from 2001 to 2003 with ppi applied.
I had no statements whatsoever, so thought i would have a struggle with this one but 7 weeks after barclaycard received my claim I,m now a happy bunny.
I have three claims with lloyds ,all loans, all front loaded, these should have been the more straightforward, but so far, 1 rejected(written back asked them to look again) 2 and 3 I am still waiting.
Good luck to anyone else trying to get their money back.0 -
