PPI Reclaiming successes and failures

Hello everyone!
First off, many thanks to a friend and my father-in-law for showing me successful ‘complaint upheld’ letters; I didn't believe it could be done. Second, massive thanks to Martin and MSE. All my questions were answered, and the info given gave me a massive boost in confidence.
9 weeks and 2 days ago I made a phone call to Halifax to make my PPI claims. Ultimately I got 3 credit cards and one loan on one reference number as Halifax were willing to deal with all of them.
Marbles credit card (this one was huge)
Halifax credit card (sizeable)
Sainsbury's Bank credit card
Sainsbury's Bank loan #2
Later, Sainsbury's Bank loan #1 went on a different reference as I had no details for them. I think they’ve now found them as when I called for an update last week, they quoted me an agreement number.
Today, I got home from a crappy day at work to find a letter... and the complaint on loan #2 has been upheld for a sweetening £1,1295.16! :rotfl:
If you’re reading this and thinking that it won’t work for you, just DO IT!!! I didn’t even have to fill in the questionnaire for the fourfold reference, all it took was a phone call, now paid for in spades. :j0 -
Yay! After only 8 months with the FOS my complaint against Black Horse has been dealt with!
However .... The FOS letter says" I am pleased to let you know that Black Horse Ltd has told us that it would like to make an offer as a gesture of goodwill, with no admission of liability, to settle your complaint. BH will be writing to you to explain the precise terms of its proposed settlement - however, it has told us that it will be based on the general approach that the FOS takes when we decide that a consumer has been mid-sold a policy."
Is this the standard letter from the FOS when a claim is successful or should I be a bit wary of the " goodwill gesture" bit or the "however " bit?
Can anyone tell me if this is standard stuff or not?

Please can someone give me some advice?
I recieved a letter from the Ombudsman on the 7th June saying that my complaint against Capital One had been upheld and that capital one had to pay me the redress by reconstructing the account, provide 8% interest and to send me details of the revised balance. They also need to cancel the insurance.
I recieved a letter yesterday from Capital One saying that the insurance was now cancelled, but would not provide any refund!
Do you think this is a stardard letter when cancelling the insurance?
Will I recieve a refund? Even if it just reduces the balance?
Any help would be a great help as I am unsure if I am getting a refund or not.

HELP WITH SANTANDER!
Hi everyone. I've received a rejection from Santander in respect of 3 storecards (House of Fraser, Burton and River Island)
The rejection is on the basis that I had ticked the box indicating that I required the insurance (copies of the sale agreement were also included in the letter.) They say "it was made clear the policy was optional and that I elected to take out the insurance". They also make the point that I could have cancelled the insurance at any time during the initial 30 day period, after the full T&C had been sent to me.
Has anyone had any similar experience with Santander and can offer any help? Is it worth making the point (again) that the terms of the policy were not made clear to me, and that is why I ticked the box?
Also, I seem to remember someone previously quoting guidance (possibly FSA?) which states that it is not enough for lenders simply to provide paper copy T&C?
Any help is GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!0 -
Well after my mother received £15000 yesterday as I explained above today I received a letter from Lloyds today offering me just over £7000 for four loans I had outstanding.
I am over the moon and I am now waiting for one other loan and four for my wife.
Thanks again everyone!!0 -

Hi all, sorry its long!
I have been thinking for a while about claiming PPI back as I was told when I took out a loan with Natwest that if I did not take PPI and I died that my next of kin would have to pay back my £10,000 loan! I was 20ys old and worried about leaving anyone with a £10,000 bill! So I fell for it!
I was also told that it would cover me if I became unemployed through any reason and when I rang up toa few years later to say I was not working due to my company no longer employing in my area (security work) and becoming a full time student I was told I could not use my PPI and that I had to continue with my £302 a month installments.
I asked them to cancel the insurance, which they told me they could not as it was attached to my loan and as they no longer sold that cover it could not be cancelled!
Suffice to say, I couldn't afford to pay the loan every month, got into a lot of debt and had to go bankrupt.. Worst time ever! I went bankrupt in Jan 10, was discharged in Jan 11 but didnt keep all paperwork for the original loan I had with natwest and the £10,000 one I had that I used to pay off original and other debts. I have one bank statement with account number and sort code of loan..
Do I have a case to argue with this as it would be great to get some money back but not sure if I would see any of it due to bankruptcy, although I am discharged and no longer owe anyone anything.. I was going to write a letter to Natwest as not being able to pay the loan was the main reason I had to go bankrupt (advised by CAB).
I want to write them a letter but not sure what is best to put in it as I do not want to get a rejection due to not wording my claim right!0 -
Hi all,
well after receiving just over £850 a few weeks ago for a credit card with LloydsTSB I am awaiting news on other loans with them and also sent a mortgage refusal with them to the Ombudsman. My wife is also waiting on two loans sent to them. We have had letters for each of these items requesting a further 8 weeks.
I also managed to talk my mum into ringing LloydsTSB about a consolidation loan she had taken out some years ago. She wasn't really interested but I explained what she needed to do and sat with her as she rang them. Today she got a letter back upholding her complaint for just over £15000.
She can't believe it and is over the moon. Thanks for all your help on here guys and girls as without you none of us would have even bothered.
Fingers crossed now for our other claims. Big kisses to you all!!
Even bigger kisses back :rotfl::rotfl:0 -

Did you pay the PPI in with the loan payment each month? if you did, this is Single Premium PPI and this is the reason you give for mis sell, this was a loan on the loan paid to term end with interest, if you cancelled the PPI they would have given you a pro rata rebate of the PPI and the remaining PPI is still on the loan to term end.
If you settled this loan early then, as above, you would have a pro rata rebate and you would have paid back the remaining PPI in with the settlement figure.
You only need the account number and reasons for mis sell to make a claim.0 -

So don't waste any more time with this.0
