Just looking a bit of advice. I tried to reclaim PPI on my Halifax Credit Card. i bascially got back the standard refusal letter that everyone seems to be getting when they are refused. It said that i went into branch to apply for the PPI on 12th October 2005. I most certainly did not i remember a salesperson telephoning me on my mobile to sell me the insurance and as i had a newborn baby to deal with i wanted them off the phone asap. They Glorified the PPI and i felt really pressurised into taking it. i did not ask for PPI and as i was on maternity leave and guaranteed my weekly wage i would not needed any cover for illness or redundancy. so the thing is why would I want to purchase it? So basically i have sent a letter back a copy of which i will post next. if anyone would have any advice as to if this seems ok? Many thanks

Hi everyone
Has anyone had any luck with Scottish Amicable (now trading under Prudential?) Myself and my flatmate have tried to claim for mis-sold mortgage protection payment insurance on the flat we bought and we have been rejected.
They say that it is because you can only claim mis-selling on loans, credit cards etc. They also sent me a copy of the agreement I signed and said that the case was now closed.
I know that I signed the agreement but did so naively as it was my first mortgage and we were led to believe that we had to take the MPPI offered to get the mortgage. This was advised by a financial advisor rather than Scottish Amicable themselves.
Is it worth going to the Financial Ombudsmen to continue my claim. I can't help thinking that they are trying to get away with it....
Thanks
Becky
Some MPPI is not reclaimable in the first instance, having said that, mis selling applies to Mortgage PPI too, post the question here

Title it " MPPI rejection " the guys on there will tell you if it is one that you can claim mis sell for.
I would think you can as the rejection wording seems like a standard fob off and that being the case, I would write back and reject the reasons they gave for not upholding, see what info you get from the link I gave and take it from there.0 -
I wrote to Santander Consumer Finance on 9th April to reclaim PPI on a car loan. They subsequently wrote back to me denying it had been mis-sold. I then found out about the MSE website and sent the completed questionnaire to them on 19th May. Since then I have heard nothing from them, not even an acknowledgement. Should I contact them again, or is this one for the Ombudsman? Thanks in advance.0

You send the complaint to the dealer you bought the car from.
Santander only provided the finance, did you pay the PPI in with the monthly loan payment? if you did then this is Single Premium PPI and the reason you use for mis sell, the full cost and unfair rebates of this PPI would not have been fully explained to you at the point of sale to make an informed decision regarding this insurance.0 -

Well just had a call from Lloyds TSB asking me the same questions I have already given when I first put the complaint in. Is this normal??0

The letter arrived today with my offer, for £4900! :j
Over the moon, as myself and my partner have now been offered over 9k between us. This is a life changing amount for us as we really want to put our tiny terraced house up for sale this year, but we were struggling with repairs.0 -
I have just called LLOYDSTSB as my 8 weeks is up today and they say they have sent out a letter asking for a furthrer 2 weeks due to back log.
Of the 5 loans i claimed on, they said two were being treated together as one had no PPI but was a consolidation of a previous one that did, so i would get 4 responses.
Do you think that this is a positive message and that i may be seeing an offer ??
They were (4 of 5) all front loaded and (4K of front loading on one of them, 2.5K on another etc) and i complained of being told that i had to have ppi when in the branch to get the loans authorised by the lending division and to be accepted, i also stated that i had good job security and sick leave cover (6+ months) and a good pension etc.
Has anyone else had similar, and have you a response you can share?Rooney :dance:0 -

hi there
seems like a stalling tactic to me what date did u put the claim in as other people are being mucked about as well .
lloyds say they are sending letters out for more time due to the backlog which i feel is wrong .
they should work more hours i think
my claims are in their 5 week and i hope that it will be done within the 8 week period.0
