  • I am so grateful to this site for all its support and invaluable advice that it offers :A I have several claims in now and will wait and see whether they are upheld. I wouldn't have done it without this site.

I remember going for my first mortgage and dressing up in my Sunday best. Banks were trusted by people to look after your best interests. Its a shame thats no longer the case
  • I have been dealing with the manager of RBS PPI Reclaim about mine.
Long story about having to get my marriage certificate certified etc.
He called today at 11am and said he would call back iin 20 mins and never did!
I have worked worked in customer service for 16 years and even if he could' nt find the info he needed then at least call back to tell me whats going on.
Suprise suprise when i called them back at 4pm he was in a meeting!
Wish i never started all this.
    Hi AlwaysBroke,

Please don't give up. I know exactly how you feel, believe me!

Mine was an ongoing saga with Blackhorse. It has finally come to the finish:D:T

It really is worth it in the end. Hold on in there. We are all rooting for you;)

They will deal with this, Stephen Hester said that all customers will not be out of pocket, just hang on in there.

It should not affect the claim as RBS will deal with this and not Santander, it is between the RBS and it's customers.

thanks amersall i agree they will deal with it but the timescale concerns me .
if anybody out there has had to do as my son has done your comments would be much appreciated.
once again sorry to bring this up on this forum

    Hi everyone

Has anyone had any luck with Scottish Amicable (now trading under Prudential?) Myself and my flatmate have tried to claim for mis-sold mortgage protection payment insurance on the flat we bought and we have been rejected.

They say that it is because you can only claim mis-selling on loans, credit cards etc. They also sent me a copy of the agreement I signed and said that the case was now closed.

I know that I signed the agreement but did so naively as it was my first mortgage and we were led to believe that we had to take the MPPI offered to get the mortgage. This was advised by a financial advisor rather than Scottish Amicable themselves.

Is it worth going to the Financial Ombudsmen to continue my claim. I can't help thinking that they are trying to get away with it....

    Thanks
    Becky

As I posted on Friday, my partner has received an offer from Egg for his mis-sold PPI of £4,100.

Today I received a letter from Egg saying I have not filled in the questionare and returned it. I called them and 'eventually' spoke to someone, who said disregard the letter as it had been received and an offer letter is on he way!!:j No figures were given over the phone so I am looking forward to seeing the amount in black and white.

It has taken 4 weeks from Egg receiving our complaint letters to them sending our offers out :)

Go back to them tell them you are not happy we went after Lloyds / C&G and we won. If they refuse again take some very solid advice from the likes of amersall and di on how u would proceed with Financial Ombudsman.good luck
  • Hi there,

Just looking a bit of advice. I tried to reclaim PPI on my Halifax Credit Card. i bascially got back the standard refusal letter that everyone seems to be getting when they are refused. It said that i went into branch to apply for the PPI on 12th October 2005. I most certainly did not i remember a salesperson telephoning me on my mobile to sell me the insurance and as i had a newborn baby to deal with i wanted them off the phone asap. They Glorified the PPI and i felt really pressurised into taking it. i did not ask for PPI and as i was on maternity leave and guaranteed my weekly wage i would not needed any cover for illness or redundancy. so the thing is why would I want to purchase it? So basically i have sent a letter back a copy of which i will post next. if anyone would have any advice as to if this seems ok? Many thanks

  • refer to your letter dated 17th July 2012 which was received by me today. I am disappointed that you rejected my complaint, since I believe I have genuine grounds to make a reclaim on the Payment Protection Insurance that was mis sold to me.

I have taken into account the reasons on why you rejected my complaint and confirm I do not agree.

I have recently been made aware of mis selling of PPI through the media, and it was then I realised I have grounds to make a complaint and reclaim my PPI, otherwise if I had been aware earlier I would have obviously had raised this matter earlier.

I do not believe documentation you have stated is a reason for you to reject my complaint.
As a longstanding customer of your business, I'm sure you will reconsider my complaint and consider my reasons I have given. In my opinion the payment protection insurance was added to my credit card - without discussing it fully with me. The product may not have been suited to my requirements, and I may have had already had adequate cover in place, such as with my employer, but you failed to go through the options, as I was not given any.

I also feel that your decision is incorrect due to the following points:

    • I DID NOT apply for this insurance myself. This insurance was sold to me. I was on maternity leave after having my first child and thus was guaranteed a wage every week, so I would not have felt the need to cover myself against illness or redundancy.
    • I was telephoned to my personal telephone by one of your Colleagues who sold me the insurance. Before this I did not even know that you could take this kind of insurance out on a credit card so I was very confused as to what it was. I most certainly would not have went into a local branch to purchase this kind of insurance and if the sale did take place in my local branch I would have been approached by a member of staff.
    • I felt pressurised into taking the insurance and as I was looking after a baby I felt like I had to say yes to get the person of the telephone to attend to my baby.
    • When I was due back to work the business I work for (Conveyancing Secretary for a Solicitor) was booming and in fact there was plenty of overtime on offer so I would not have needed the insurance as my job was very safe. As you may be aware my area of work covered house sales and purchases and in 2005 the housing boom took hold and I was doing very well in work.
    • When this insurance was sold to me over the telephone you did not make it clear the policy was optional or tell me about any cooling off period that I had for the insurance. It was made to sound like it was a great feature that everyone needed for peace of mind. I remember the conversation going along the lines of “what if you lose your job” to which I replied “I won’t” to which was replied “but you might and insurance this is for your peace of mind”.
    • I did not need the insurance, want the insurance or ask for the insurance so I feel that I was mis-sold the insurance.

I will appreciate it if you will reconsider my complaint, and write to let me know within 14 to 21 days of you receiving my letter. If you fail to change the decision, or if I hear nothing further by the above requested timescale, I will consider taking this matter further. If you do not change the decision, I will also appreciate it if you will provide me with written evidence of how you rejected my complaint.

    Yours faithfully,

Spoke again to the manager today. They can not find my acceptance letter, copy of marriage certificate and copy of driving licence. I had to get the certificates certified from a local branch but they would not give them back to me (to send recorded delivery). They had to be sent internally,
The manager said he was going to call the branch this morning and when i have just spoken to him he said he never!!!
The offer letter was dated 29th June and it took me over 3 weeks to receive that.
To top it off when i spoke to the manager and explained that now copies of my personal documents have been lost he hung up the phone.
Does anyone have a number i can call to complain about all this, I am seriously stressed by the whole thing now.
