    Hi Everyone,

Just a quick question - I had a loan from alliance & leicester back in about 1998 which I know had PPI on it, am trying to find the paperwork, but if I can't is it worth it sending off a questionnaire to Santander and covering letter enclosing all the info, details of what name the loan was in(my maiden name) etc?

Also - I had credit card PPI claims rejected at the end of January by MBNA (re Virgin), Barclaycard and Capital One - all saying I could have chosen to cancel etc. etc. even though on the copies of the agreements they sent back to me, the PPI box has not been ticked! I sent the docs off to the FOS, who duly acknowledged then said it might be 12 months before they could look into the matter, however, I had a call from a lady at the FOS yesterday to say she has now started on my claims and they would be in touch shortly...so here's hoping.

I'm about to do letters and questionnaires to Blackhorse Finance, Egg and Santander now!

It's so good to hear everyone's stories and to hear about all the fantastic wins.

    Hi there

Just regarding your query about Alliance and Leicester, i too had a loan with them but no paperwork, loan sinished in 2004. I wrote to Santander but got a letter back saying they hold no information on anyone after 6 years so basically i had to give this up as a lost cause!
You could still try though.. no harm!

  • Have Egg actually sent you the cheque yet? I am waiting for my cheque a month later and no one seems able to tell me when I am going to receive it - particularly as they have sold off so many bits of their business and no one can trace it.
  • Inspired by the success of a work coleague in claiming back his PPI and receiving a cheque for £1000, I went through all of my old paperwork and found 8 loans/CC deals where I had been paying PPI - used MSE documents and sent off the first 9 days ago. Yesterday I got a letter from Liverpool Victoria offering to settle my claim for £2470.00!!! Just unreal" Thank you MSE team - you are quite brilliant. Can't wait for responses from the other claims!!:j
  • Thanks to the excellant easy to follow guide to reclaim PPI I am overjoyed to report that HSBC are upholding my complaint & are refunding £5005.97 (original PPI paid + interest).

I originally complained about one loan PPI from 12 years ago (I had the paperwork) by simply completing the form & enclosing a copy of my original loan agreement & HSBC replied within a couple of weeks stating they were investigating this & also another loan PPI I had with them (I didn't have this paperwork!!!). It took just under 8 weeks to receive their offer & needless to say I'm gobsmacked at how easy this was & thrilled to say the least. If you're wondering if it's worth the bother, like I originally did, then believe me it is, and why pay a reclaim company to do this and pay them a chunk of it when it really is this simple.... good luck :j
    THANKS MARTIN:T

Still awaiting my cheque they said in the letter 10-15 days of receipt of the acceptence letter but you do not know when they receipt the letter my 15 working days is today but not sure to ring them or not to see if they have received the letter . If I do ring I will let you know what they say .
  • Hi, I was getting nowhere reclaiming mis-sold PPI and was about to contact one of those companies you hear advertising on the radio. I was then advised to go through Money Saving expert, which I did and have now received over £11,000 back from the Royal Bank of Scotland. Sorry Fred...

Good news from Santander ... after receiving two letters the 1st acknowledging the questionnaire & telling us it would be approx 8 weeks for them to look into the complaint; the 2nd which arrived 10 days ago advising it might take a little longer as they were still looking into it, we had a 3rd letter arrive yesterday telling us they've decided to reimburse the total cost of the PPI policy & offered us £3,798.72 which is the amount incl interest stated on the original policy agreement.:T:T:T

Thanks for your advice & help amersall x

You are so welcome xx :D :j:j

I have only just sent my letter off to Egg today, along with Santander and another old one I found - Direct Line Financial Services (part of RBS) who we had a loan with in 2005..we'll see what happens!
  • Hooray! After ten weeks of waiting to hear from Lloyds regarding a claim we decided to phone them again today for an update. We'd pretty much resigned ourselves to having to wait the full sixteen weeks and nearly collapsed with shock when the call handler said the claim had been upheld and letter with a cheque for just over £5700 was winging its way to us.

It couldn't have been easier to claim. We phoned the claims line who gave us the details of all the loans we'd had along with our reasons for claiming which were front loaded, good sickness, redundancy package etc and pressured into taking PPI as we we're told we didn't stand a chance of being accepted without it.

This win will clear the millstone credit card and I'm so excited about it I'm typing this with two broken fingers in my right hand. Thank you all on this cracking site for your help and if there is anyone out there who is still considering claiming all I can say is go for it!!:j
