  • Great news today, PPI mis-selling claim against HSBC came back with a positive offer (was expecting less than half the amount offered, so am v happy).
Big thanks to di3004 for her advice on how to complete the claim process smoothly.

One question, HSBC want to use the amount offered to pay off an old over-draft I have with them which they passed to Metropolitan - do I have to accept this? I already have a repayment plan set up with MCS, and could really do with using the money elsewhere.
Debt free July 2013 :T Trying to rebuild my credit rating

Currently - On long financial trek to save and pay DD's school fees on a tight budget
  • Hi All,

Just registered on the forums... This is the best site ever!

After reading up on PPI claims and utilising the online form.

I sent over a application to claim PPI back from Halifax.

Took them 7 weeks and a few days to get back to me.

    But I'm now £1,358.30 better off! :)

Many thanks to Money saving expert... Well chuffed. Oh, Also, I even lost my job and claimed a couple of months too... Never thought they'd pay out but they did.

All the best for all you other people claiming back PPI!

Thanks to the help from this fantastic website I have just received a offer of £2,500 from Halifax. I only called them beginning of June explained how I felt it had been missold in relation to me being self employed. Received confirmation of my complaint a week later then offer today. Over the moon!

    Many thanks money saving expert.x

The Bank can indeed offset the redress against defaulted debt in this way.
If you can present very compelling evidence that you have more pressing debt (causing you financial hardship) then you MAY be able to convince HSBC to release (some) of the amount offered. Not guaranteed, but worth a try.

Has anyone else had any trouble with Natwest?
Took me nearly 4 weeks to receive the offer letter (they told me it was sent 29th June) and i received it 18th July.
I have since married since married since the accounts were held so explained this and said i need cheque payable to my married man.
Got told to take marriage certificate into the branch so they can certify it and then send it back recorded delivery.
The lady in the branch did this but said she would have to send it off internally for me as they had certified the documents.
Been trying to call the complaints departments this morning and speak to a manager with regards to this and to find out where my acceptance letter has gone (i have 2 weeks before i move abroad).
Got told he would call me back before 12 and then when i called back got told he usually calls customers back at the end of the day!!!
How can anyone start to resolve the situation if they call people back at the end of the day?
Really losing the will to live with all this and its now approaching 8 weeks since i made the compaint and still nothing,
