If you are a taxpayer then you need to contact HMRC, tell them the 8% amount and they will help you.

If you are a non taxpayer, you do not need to do anything if the 8% amount does not take you over your tax allowance or you do not work at all.

Thank you will do it when the check clears:A

    Hi all,
I posted yesterday that i had my ppi credit card claim rejected, i made the claim because briefly; 2000 - 2008 had hsbc credit card then from may 2005 had ppi added ( i can not recall how i ended up with ppi) noticed this on my credit card statement, checked to see why told because my husband 'self-employed' he was so that was that. The card was in my name, i did not work. I did not cancel the ppi because at the time thought that because my husband was self-employed we should keep it. Of course I now know that the ppi did not cover my husband only me and that because i did not work pointless for me also.
Anyway i phoned HSBC today to question this, they have said they will reconsider my claim but I need to send proof I was unemployed!!!! How am I to do this i was not on any benefits, my husband provided for his family. Any advice please.....

  • Offer received today!
wrote to Santander regarding my Alliance and Leicester loan taken out in June 2002. When I was offered the loan I was simply not allowed to proceed without agreeing to insurance by the man who called to tell me my application had been accepted, I told him in my job I would receive 6 mth full pay and 6 mth half pay should I become sick, meaning I probably wouldnt be able to claim ,and besides my partner earned enough to support us both , but was simply told they were not happy to proceed without my taking the insurance. I grudgingly accepted since I wanted the loan at the time.
I complained in my letter to Santander in June about the methods used in selling me insurance, at the same time as asking for the account number ( it was 2002, I no longer had the info) and they responded with the account no but did not raise the complaint, however they did tell me how to complain.

I looked at ppi claims services and after being told they required 25-30% of any repayments , decided to try myself using the templates on here.

I wrote once ,including the template on this site, and adding that if I did not get a response I would pursue it, received a holding letter, and a second holding letter apologising for the delay as it was just over 4 weeks, on Tuesday. Today I received an offer of £2153.50.

I would definitely advise anyone to try and claim yourself at least initially. The information I sent I would have had to take the time to provide to the claims company anyway, so It took me no more time than using a claims service and I have succeeded without any hassle, and a claims company would have gained over £500 for doing absolutely nothing but forwarding on the info I gave them. I know its not always this easy, but I think this proves its definitely worth taking at least the first step yourself , without paying someone for doing nothing. You have nothing to lose. I talked myself out of claiming for ages, thinking they would find a way out of it, it might be too long ago, I didnt want a fight etc etc. Expected nothing, except maybe half an hour of my time wasted writing. £2153.50 for half an hour of my time? well worth it.
  • Finally - FINALLY received revised offer (now accepted) from co-op of £20,881 for credit card PPI redress :):)
Original offer was over 2 months ago for 10 years PPI but we had another 4 years' statements hence the revised offer
Anyone know how long co-op take to pay after receiving your acceptance? They say within 20 working days I.e a month I suppose?

Today I plucked up the courage to put in my ppi claim to Halifax for 4 secured loans we have had (2 still running) over the last 10 years. Just phoned them and they asked for account numbers (which I gave them). No questions were asked. They said they would send a letter to acknowledge my claim within 5 days and I would receive a decision within 8 weeks. I really hope that they will be upheld :)
    No questions were asked?
Did they not even ask why you were complaining?
    What your reasons were?
Expect a questionnaire in the post and be ready with valid reasons for your claim.

Was it a full and final rejection?

Yes. With a pamphlet on how to complain to the onbudsman.
  • Just had to say thanks!

Having money trouble and health has suffered for it but last 2 days have seen a massive change in fortune.

Just received notification from a well known secured loan lender that my ppi complaints against 3 loans (last of which was cleared early in 2007) have been up held... The total refund after tax has been deducted from the 8% simple interest pa is a life changing £41554.11. Didn't even have to fill in a form ; phoned to confirm the address to send it to and they took my complaint over the phone.

Have already received £2951 from a credit card and have 3 more claims waiting to hear from.

Thank you mse. Can now see a bright light at the end of what has been a very long and dark tunnel!

I got a letter this morning to tell me that one of my complaints had been upheld after 9 weeks, just over 1k. Brilliant.

The lender took into account two loans I had account numbers for but did not take into account loans before this (from 1997 - 2002 no details or account numbers) which I asked them to do. Even so, I am very happy.

Thank you very much Amersall for all your help and advice, you keep me sane through all the waiting. Also to everyone else helping people through this process.

I have another two credit card complaints to wait for, but this has made my day, week, month and for the first time I can put money in my savings account and it isn't going straight out onto credit card balances.

    Thank you again.

The plot thickens! :D Two more letters and cheques received today. First one has £14 extra interest paid; second one £10 approx extra interest paid. So £16 down (£40 - £24), but 7 more letters and cheques to come.
Surely someone else has encountered this with Natwest?
All ten claims now received. 9 of them had the interest increased, presumably relating to the time lapse from the offer date to the payment date. So we phoned Natwest to query the only one where the interest had gone down (by £40) and it is being checked out by Natwest.
So worth checking the figures in the offer against the final amounts paid. I think they have underpaid by £50 approx.
