my ppi was cancelled back in oct 2005, had it from jan 2003. Balance on the account was always around 2k, so it wont be a kings ransom but the fact 7 years have passed means the interest will be interesting to say the least ! only upheld on monday so it will be a while yet......
    :jWow, well done dazzler:beer:

    Congratulations on your win:D

Had got into arrears with my Barclay loan and decided to chance my luck by trying to reclaim my ppi back. Having changed banks since loan taken out Barclays had refused to talk to me as I had no photo id. Was advised to write a letter (which I did) and today I recieved a letter saying they also looked into previous loans I had taken out and had cleared my outstanding balance (£3400) and enclosed a check for £5700. Happy days!!!!:j

    Hi all

One more "HUGE" update from MBNA

FOS sided in my favour for both credit cards (I have been stupid in my past)

After receiving a cheque for £7100 last week, I have finally got my cheque for the other and it was for a staggering £28100!!!

Absolutely staggered and over the moon

To anyone thinking they have been missold then apply, you have nothing to lose and everything to gain!

Natwest texted a few days after letter sent off to say payment will be 7 days and cheques have started to arrive 7 days later, so not long to wait now!

I completed both forms with the same answers word for word as the reasons were the same. The one letter has said the accept it was wrong and have offered a refund, the second letter informs that they believe the 'seller' acted correctly and made all of the facts known. This is their only reason. The claims are for cards i held many years ago. I was going to wait until they have paid the first claim before I made contact to ask for reasons why the second was rejected.

We had exactly the same both cards applied for at the same time and both complaints form gave identical reasons for missell and we have had one upheld and the other rejected, we wrote back and said we didn't accept the rejection but haven't heard back from them yet. I thought the same how can they uphold 1 and reject the other? Will wait and see what they say.

My ex's credit card. Opened in 1998, was told he had to take PPI. Never needed it, company benefits, life assurance, BUPA, personal pension, etc. Paid off his balance about a year ago when his pension paid him a lump sum. Cancelled about 18 months ago when he heard through a friend did not have to have it. Was paying up to £150 a month just for the insurance. He had no idea he could reclaim until I approached him recently asking him if he still had any old paperwork of mine.

My ex got a rejection letter from MBNA yesterday, saying it was a non advised sale, which is untrue. When he received the postal application, never having had a credit card before, he rang to ask some questions. In particular, he asked why household income, as well as his personal income, was being asked for, as he was not applying for a second card on the account for me. I actually earned more than him at the time and the advisor told him he should put joint income down as it should help his credit limit.

But the same advisor told him he had to tick for PPI as he would be turned down for the card otherwise. She did not ask for any details of his personal circumstances in relation to benefits, nor explain the financial implications of taking the PPI.

I really think he should put his response in his own words and ask them to reconsider before he goes off to FOS, but would be grateful for some input on his situation before I advise him further.

Many thanks to all of you who have helped so far, look forward to posting a success story of mine or his very soon, x

Sorry for the long, maybe a bit rambling post, just wondered if anybody had any particular feelings on this situation? Many thanks

    Hi there
Congratulations - I am very encouraged to hear FOS have up held your complaint.

Would it be ok for me to ask how you applied for your MBNA cards and the circumstances around your case?
MBNA have refused to uphold my complaint on the grounds that I signed the PPI agreement in 2001 which strongly recommended I took out the cover. It was not an advised sale. I agree I am daft for doing this but I was not aware that you could shop around or more importantly that I was better covered by my NHS benefits. I have also subsequently discovered that MBNA would not have even paid out if I had had to claim, because of my NHS sick cover etc! The copy of my agreement showed I had written NHS three times on the form!!
I have now gone to the FOS with this. Incidentally how long did it take?
    :rotfl:well done again
