I still say there is no better alternative to a written complaint, but it's your call.
Yes but ive already submitted the complaint, are you suggesting I cancel it and start again?

After getting the info, letters and claim form from MoneySavingExpert.com I requested the loan and PPI details from Santander regarding a previous (now fully paid off) loan I had with Alliance & Leicester (taken over by Santander). Once the details were received I completed the claim form (from Martin's web site) and, using the web sites link to Santander, found the PPI complaints address and sent off the completed form. As I'd had numerous A&L loans, all withh PPI, I requested details of the loan & PPI previous to the one I'd claimed for - thinking that I'd have to go through each PPI claim individually. However, Santander came up trumps (something to shout about in this age of bannking gloom and despondancy) and off their own back had checked all of my Alliance & Leicester loan history and came back to me with a compensation package for all of my miss sold PPI's of just under £5,000 which I have just written back to them to accept. The money should be in my current account by next week after Santander have finalised the paperwork from their end. Thank you MoneySavingExpert.com for making the whole process so easy and straightforward. I feel I should also say thank you to Santander for undertaking the repayment of all of my loan PPI's in one go after I'd applied for what I though was just going to be the first claim of many, and all done without having to resort to a third party company who would have wanted their % of my compentation. I FEEL GREAT!!! :j If you've got PPI to reclaim don't hesitate - read what needs to be done in Martin's easy to use "Reclaiming PPI" section of his web site and start thinking what you'll do with the money!!!

unfortunately its a dirty tactic used, to slow down payment out and in some cases no payment will ever get made, sad but true , its a shame martin didnt get into things like this with the banks when they were discussing speeding up the process

I phoned them again yesterday and this time they said they have received the acceptance letter after all. Hopefully the next thing that will happen is the payment appears in my account.

    Hi All,

Many thanks to this website - just received a payment of £1200 into my barclays account with the reference 'PPI + Interest' :j:j:j:j

My question is this: we've had no offer letter, acknowledgement etc. just the payment. I sent 4 separate forms for 4 separate loans - is this likely to be a payment for all of them or just one?
Not being greedy just looking ahead, you know??:o:o:o

    Many thanks.
  • I have been a bit thick! I filled out 2 of the questionnaires as I want to caim against 2 building societies but I sent both forms to the ombudsman instead of the building societies. This was well over a Month ago and I haven't heard anything. should I resubmit my applications again to the BS or just hope it will be done through the ombudsman

As I understand it, the Ombudsman will not look at anything until 8 weeks after you have made a complaint to the bank. So you need to complain to the bank, and send the Ombudsman an "OOPS, sorry" letter

Well, ideally, complainants should wait until the Bank have issued a "full and final" response to their concerns before approaching FOS. The Bank are allowed eight weeks to respond.

    No, I was talking generally.
You've now made a concerted effort to ensure they are considering exactly the complaint you have rather than a telephone operator's interpretation of it.

I used this websites template letter and sent to HSBC sometime in May,today I received a rejection letter from HSBC for PPI sold to me for a credit card, explanation letter quote ' the product information pack confirms you had a 30 day right to cancel'
' the premiums paid appeared on your statements', we have no record of you contacting hsbc to query or cancel' and finally quote ' regrettably to the passing of time, the original application has not been located by the branch.'
The circumstances at the time of me taking out this credit card from 2000- 2009 was I applied for the card my husband also had a card, i was not working (housewife) my husband self-employed, I only realised i had PPI from my statement, i went into my local branch and was told that we HAD to have ppi because my husband was self-employed.This was our first ever credit card so did not question.
Does anyone know if this is correct any advice would be great.

The problem with your complaint is that it is a verbal accusation for which you can provide no evidence. You have the right to refer your complaint to FOS, but it's doubtful you'll have any success there either.
