You might as well be aware now that this kind of hearsay complaint has very little chance of being upheld because it's impossible to prove.
You may be lucky and the Bank identify other mis-selling reasons too, but this really is the weakest form of complaint.

Yes there are other reasons, such as me attempting to make a claim and not being able to due to not being aware of the circumstances in which I can make a claim, and also that they doubled the limit on a credit card they were meant to cancel when i amalgamated 2 debts into a new loan.

So, not so "simple" after all. (The credit card problem is irrelevant to your mis-selling complaint, though)

The problem with complaining on the telephone is that the operators only tick the relevant boxes relating to particular complaint reasons. Yours will have been ticked in the "told PPI was
    compulsory" category.

If you want to "flesh out" your complaint, I recommend you put your complaint in writing.
Go here and follow the steps:
    http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/ppi-loan-insurance#step3

Depending on the Bank, you may well get a copy of the Ombudsman Questionnaire to fill out anyway. If this is to be the case, downloading it now will save you time later as well as ensuring that your complaint is fully considered.

    Good luck

OK I am a little confused. I was getting 6 payments (each with own ref numbers) totalling around £17,000 after tax on interest. I received 5 texts today saying hey had been paid and could take upto 7 days. The 6th was was missing which was worth around £10,000.

I have just checked my bank and the 5 payments are a lot less than they should be, and what I signed for. Is this normal? Could the bank statements be wrong as it did say upto 7 days.

Also the big amount hasn't gone in yet and how much less is that likely to be?

    Worried? Yes.

Sometimes they pay the 8% as a separate payment, give them a ring and ask.

    Hi Moneyineptitude,

My claim is with Lloyds TSB, ive rang back and checked what the guy took down (nothing), and dictated to another person the more precise details of the complaints, who ensured me that these notes where now on my complaint ^^ time will tell!
  • Thanks to your web :A site I tried to reclaim a PPI from 1988 on our first mortgage - from memory it was only in force for a year or two as they refused to cover when my husband was made redundant. I filled out the form template (easy) and sent it off. I got a standard letter back saying they had my claim and 8 weeks later we got an offer of £5 532.17. We have stopped telling each other this figure yet as it was all too easy! Go on! Claim! You've nothing to loose, but you may have a lot to gain!:T

I still say there is no better alternative to a written complaint, but it's your call.

Well I sent my acceptance letter to Barclays on 5th July but hadn't heard or received anything so phoned them yesterday. They claim they haven't received it, and had sent me a chaser letter which came this morning.

What's the best practice now? Ask for another letter and send it back recorded delivery?

I was so glad I photocopied the original offer letter I received.
I went to the branch and had them fax it to the relevant department (after I signed it in the presence of Bank staff)
That (and an E-Mail to their CEO) worked a treat for me!

NB; Don't send the next one recorded delivery.

My wife had a successful claim from Natwest and was offered X amount and Y interest. She signed the documentation agreeing to accept this amount (X + Y).
Yesterday she received a letter and cheque and the amount of interest (Y) had been reduced by nearly £40 without explanation. Has anyone else had this experience?
The plot thickens! :D Two more letters and cheques received today. First one has £14 extra interest paid; second one £10 approx extra interest paid. So £16 down (£40 - £24), but 7 more letters and cheques to come.
Surely someone else has encountered this with Natwest?
