I am, or was a Mortgage Broker. We sold PPI to protect the most important thing a family can have, the roof over their head. I have had 100's of complaints and not one has been upheld by FOS. Guess what, even when i defend a case most send it to FOS anyway as they think it is their god given right to have PPI refunded regardless of the fact of its sale. I send call recording in all cases, which the majority tend to ignore. FOS charge me £500 for any complaint they receive, regardless if innocent or not. I have today had to close my business and face ruin and my young family home will be under threat of being taken away.
Many of you are just chancers and vultures.0 -
At risk of being "shouted" at as one of the so called vultures, I have to say I am really touched by your post. Hopefully somebody with knowledge and experience will come and answer you with a helpful post soon.0

bottom line is they lie
this site encourages them to lie
give them a template, chance your arm eh, why not
PPI was mis - sold I agree
One of the last 'claims' I received was from someone who claimed for six months after a fall at work, it saved his home
Still went to FOS mind, still had to pay £500 even though I was proved of no wrong doing.
I pray that these people whose 'family and friends' would help out if they lose their jobs see it that is the truth. If it is as i suspect, I hope the people come and change their locks in the very near future0 -
Until recently I hadn't realised that PPI had often been mis-sold for pre-existing medical condtions. I had a loan in 2005 and at the time was undergoing investigations into a heart condition. I even mentioned this to the bank when they were sorting out loan since I wanted PPI to cover the loan should anything happen to me. Fortunately I had all my paperwork inc 2 loan demonstrations showing with and without PPI so I followed the instructions on the site and downloaded the PPI claim form. Just had a letter from the bank upholding my claim since they cannot prove that the insurance was appropriate. Nearly £4,000 on the way back to me.
HUGE THANKS :T0 -
claimed misselling from barclays last year as my husband had a predisposing medical condition which we would not have been able to claim on!!! also he was planning to go self employed later in year and we were never told we would not have been covered so barclays sent us £6650.00!!!!!:T based on these facts i thought i would try and see if they would look furture back and today recieved a letter with loans going back till 2000, and a balance of £5666.64 covering 4 loans!!!! am in shock as wasnt really going to try am so glad i did. hope mr diamond doesnt miss his £12316.64 off his pension pot!!! many thanks martin your a saint. i will raise a glass of wine to you

I used the form - sent it off to RBS (mint) regarding a loan where I was specifically told PPI was needed for the loan to be approved....
and letter with "we don't admit any fault but" offering me the full PPI and interest back arrived today :T:T:j:j:j:T:T
Soooo easy, and now that could be £4,500 off my debt (coz the loan is in arrears). I won't fully believe it till they confirm it though!
So a quarter of my debt will be dumped just for sending a form off!!
I am very grateful for this website (and now await the result of hubby's claim for his loan from another company)
Ta very muchly! :T:T:T:T:T:T:T:Tworking on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -
Would anyone be able to help?
I recieved a letter from the Ombudsman on the 7th June saying that my complaint against capital one had been upheld and that capital one had to pay me the redress by reconstructing the account, provide 8% interest and to send me details of the revised balance.
I had to reply to the FOS by 2nd July. As soon as i recieved the letter i replied, so about the 10th June.
Does anyone know how long it will be before I hear from Capital one?
Thanks0 -
I am currently reeling in shock from receiving a pile of letters through the post yesterday and today, with offers from RBS in response to my complaint that I was mis-sold PPI over the past decade on loans which were pretty much consolidation after consolidation.
To cut a long story short, if it wasn't for my husband nagging me to complain (for the record I was mis-sold, I'm not an opportunist), and this website, I would not have known where to start, and I wouldn't now be looking at a total of just over £15,000 being refunded to me!
It cost me about £1.50 - a first class stamp to get the information on all the loans from RBS and a recorded delivery letter I sent with my formal complaint after that.
Thank you moneysavingexpert for the advice - I'm pretty much jumping for joy!!!:j0 -
