    Hi, i need some advice.
I got today a rejection letter for two cc accounts from First Direct, they supplied a copy of both application forms one show that i ticked the box for ppi and the other shows that both boxes are ticked for some reason .. to have ppi and not to have ppi. They have also said that they provided full terms and conditions. As this was a postal application and not verbal would i have any rights of appeal?

    Any replies would be appreciated.

  • Hello all from a new poster.

I have been reading this thread for a good few weeks after submitting a claim. Thankyou to all the wonderful posters on here, it was encouraging to read whilst awaiting a response from MBNA.

I submitted a complaint against MBNA mid May 2012 regarding PPI on a credit card. I paid PPI FROM 1998 to 2008. On average the PPI I paid was £25 per month. My account was never fully paid off during this time although the account balance varied.

I cited that I was never informed that PPI was optional. Also I receive six months full sick pay and six months half pay through my employers. I cancelled the PPI in 2008 when I first heard PPI was a waste of time. It took me a further 3.5 years to get my act together to complain! Since cancelling the PPI I have still some debt with MBNA on the credit card. Until very recently.............

Two weeks ago I received a letter from MBNA upholding!!

    The breakdown of refund:

    Total PPI paid £2879
    Associated interest £5946
    8% interest £1386
    Total over 10k!!!!

I didn't use a claims firm and recommend like other posters NOT to use a claims firm. It is just a easy to complain yourself.

I had no idea that interest was added to PPI until I read advice on here, which made me very cross towards the bank. Thiefing or what. I have now paid MBNA off and will close the account. 6 weeks from start of complaint to receiving cheque!

I wish everyone the best awaiting claims and thanks once again especially dizzy di - your posts are always encouraging!!

Hi. I was contacted by Claims Advisory Group about a month ago to discuss making a claim against missold PPI. I had quite a few credit cards and loans during the period, but never thought about claiming. They said it was a no win no fee offer, but that they take 39% of any successful claim. Even though I thought their cut was very high, I said "why not" and completed all their forms, and didn't think anymore about it. Today I got a letter from Halifax making an offer on one of my claims! Which I'm of course very happy about, but now regretting not looking into it further after they called as I would have seen how easy it would have been to do it myself. Now I'm just waiting to see how I go on my other claims (I've got four more). Seeing as I wouldn't have claimed if they hadn't have called me, I suppose I just need to look at it as money for nothing. If anyone DOES want to use a company to do it for them, these guys have been pretty good...but I wouldn't recommend it as you'll only feel gutted if your claim is accepted.

I have just fund a few old statements for my MBNA, they are upholding my complaint similar circumstances to you. I have estimated that I paid £1560 in PPI over the period I had with them so your figures have given me an indication of what I might receive. but any a bonus

Newbie to list but need some help. I had loan out with rbs a number of years ago and was told I had a better chance of getting the loan if I took ppi. Which I did. The loan is paid off and I decided recently to reclaim the ppi. I sent my application back to the rbs ppi complaint department on the 3rd of June but I am yet to recieve any acknowledgement that they have recieved it. Is this normal practice or should I contact them again to see if they recieved my complaint.
