PPI Reclaiming successes and failures

As this was over 7 years ago it is possible, especially with HSBC, that this data has been destroyed, call them and ask if they can find you, or if you have a branch local to you just pop in and ask.
I already called n even pop in but they said they can see I had a card with them but data regarding it. Does anyone where can I find the info apart from them?0 -

Just to say thanks to everyone on the forum for the advice in your posts on reclaiming ppi. Have just had my first success with a Halifax credit card, which I have had for 10 years. Haven't received a letter yet but I logged on to my statement and discovered they have refunded over £11,000, in 3 separate amounts on my card. It's taken less than 6 weeks from sending my questionaire and I didn't send any statements but they have refunded the full premium paid over the years plus interest charged and rebate which I presume is 8% simple interest for being in credit. I'm pleased it was over lunch time at work when I logged on which meant I was on my own, because I burst into tears (of happiness of course) when I saw the refund lol. Thanks once again to you all. x0

Morning all,
kit2012 I've had the same success as you with my Halifax CC, they refunded the money back onto my card but when I looked this morning they've taken it back off and issued a cheque, I thought £500 if I was lucky but they've given me over £1300!!!
In total after 2 phone calls to the Halifax I've been refunded over £3000!! (£2000 was refunded for my 3 old loans)
Very happy!! :j:j0 -
I got a letter this morning from Bank Smart. They tell me I had a load with a company called CiciHo for £23000, and a refund amount of £6900.
I don't remember it at all. Although I did have a bridging loan when I bought my house. The Financial Advisor arranged it all. All we done was sign 'something' and had over a cheque for £7000 (i hear ya..)
This transaction was in August 2006, although there is no information about it on my credit file.
Three questions..
1. Are BankSmart just using this as a hook?
2. Where can I find 'historic' lenders on my credit file? Is there one of the credit file companies that go further than the rest?
3. Who are CitiHo? I can find nothing online about them.
Any help appreciated. Thanks in advance.0 -

That's brilliant George Mc! It's a great feeling isn't it?
I hope they send me a cheque rather than leave it on my card.
Good luck everyone.0 -

Ask for all info they hold on you, enclose £10 and give them 40 days to respond.
Your credit report will only go back 6 years too.
Maybe someone else can suggest another route for you to take that has worked for them with a claim when there was no paperwork.0 -
I submitted a claim this week to Halifax on a credit card. I was shredding old docs and came across statements from an account 7 years ago.... when i looked i was paying £35 a month PPI, for 5 years.
at the time my employer offered 1 year full sick pay, so i wouldnt have needed ppi.
i was also sold over the phone and nobody discussed any of the implications of the plicy. i was young and naive and thought i should really take it out.
what do you think are my chances?0 -
does any one know who took over Morgan Stanley?0
