Unfortunately it wasn't,very nice lady from the bank has been trying to find a statement to prove that we've at least payed a payment but she can only go back to 1997, she said she may be able to find something with our old address ,not looking good.
It was only a loan for £2000 but we got into financial trouble 3 years ago and all ppi refunds have gone to pay off our outstanding loan with them, this last 1 would have completely cleared it.(would have been a nice feeling). Thanks for your advice
Sorry to hear this, ask them to offer a goodwill gesture for this loan, it is worth a try, if you don't ask, you don't get and you will not be in any worse a position than you were before if they say no.

Hi all, this is my first post and I would like some advice please. I sent a standard letter on 8th may to lloyds ref cc and loans. Unfortunately I didn't read this site first and was a bit vague in my letter stating I felt I was mis sold because of pressure from the bank staff etc.. I tout they would send me a questionnaire where I could be more specific!? . Anyway the letter came back rejecting my claims due to the fact that this was not a condition of the loan etc ... Then I read this forum! I then rang ltsb to inform them of my further info as requested in the letter within 28 days. I have always been employed, 6 months sickness etc, critical illness and life insurance policies. Periods of self employment. I sent the emails and have received confirmation today....does anyone have any idea if it's possible for them to change their minds after an initial rejection letter?

I shall be claiming for my mortgage pp and other loans etc.. But I shall definitely be using the template letters on this site! Keep up the good work!

They will look at the additional info you have sent, good luck.

Got a letter from Barclays this morning about my overdraft protection claim. It's taken them seven weeks but...

    Complaint upheld!

Me too!!! Got home to a cheque for £1,117.79! Also 7 weeks from start to finish! Maybe with all the poo flying around them, they have decided to clear existing complaints before the next lot flood in!

Only waiting on 2 claims now: Barclaycard and Egg Card.
Total owing to the tax man so far is £292.89 which I will give him with pleasure as I have received (and paid off on my debts) £5961.48. I shall now be debt free in 12 months instead of 2 years!

If there's anyone out there who knows someone who is in debt, and who HASN'T attempted to claim yet, be a true friend and persuade them to do it! Reading this thread, there are so many of us who are now debt free or nearly there, just by claiming back PPI! It's a new, fresh start

I incurred the debt, I repaid the debt - all of it!:o DMP started with CCCS 20/07/2007 Was £32,735. Paid off all my creditors (June 2013) 7 yrs ahead of original DFD.
    PPI claims won against Barclays x 2/ Egg x 1/ LV x . PPI claims rejected and then upheld Barclays/Egg x 2

  • Hi all newbie here

I wonder if any of you good people could help with aquestion I have.

I wrote to the bank using the template letter in Step 2.

I received a letter of response, an unsigned copy of thereconstituted version of the executed agreement, the terms and conditions and asigned statement of the account. (They were unable to find the original signedagreement, but are trying to locate it.)

The statement of account, as at the date of their lettersays that ‘if it is more, the total of interest and the payment protectioncover premium shown in your statement’. The reconstituted version of theexecuted Credit Agreement states that if you have payment protection insurance, the premium will be debited to your account each month. The amount of the premiumwill be determined by reference to the debit balance of your account. You willbe notified of any change in Premium rate.

Does paying a monthly premium for Payment Protection Covermean we are paying Payment Protection Insurance? If so, there is noPayment Protection Insurance Policy with the paperwork or any paperwork about the Payment ProtectionCover we are paying. I thought the copy ofterms and Conditions applicable to the account should have included this too.Surely we will need this to be able to proceed with a reclaim?
How would I obtain this paperwork if it has not been included.
    Thanks in advance

    Good evening,

To say I'm a little disappointed today is an understatement.

    I have today received a letter from Black Horse rejecting my PPI claim. They stated;

"When assessing your complaint I have fully considered whether you were elligible for the policies, whether the policies were suitable for you and whether we provided appropriate information to your PPI policies when you took them out. Having completed all of these steps, I also looked to ensure that we acted fairly towards you in relation to the sale of your PPI policies, taking into account any other relevant circumstances or information that may be available.

As a result of this review, I am satisfied that there were no issues with the sale of the PPI attached to the above loans. Hotwever, due to the way we calculate the rebate due on settlement or cancellation of a PPI policy, you incurred additional costs when you settled or cancelled these policies compared to what you would have paid if they had not been single premium policies.

Due to these additional costs, your borrowing for the subsequent loans would also have been higher than you needed it to be, which in turn increased the size of the monthly repayments and also attracted additional interest.

As part of my review I have also considered agreement numbers....... I am satisfied there were no issues with the sale of the PPI attached to these loans. Therefore, no refund of premiums for these loans are due."

They then offered as a final response payment of 1,430.53

Basically they are saying I was not mis-sold. Even though I was told I had to take the PPI in order to get the loan. I will not be accepting thus offer. I would appreciate any help with formulating my response to Black Horse.

    Regards, Darren

I submitted a claim this week to Halifax on a credit card. I was shredding old docs and came across statements from an account 7 years ago.... when i looked i was paying £35 a month PPI, for 5 years.

at the time my employer offered 1 year full sick pay, so i wouldnt have needed ppi.

i was also sold over the phone and nobody discussed any of the implications of the plicy. i was young and naive and thought i should really take it out.

what do you think are my chances?
  • Hello

I wondered if you could help... I received a letter back from Lloyds TSB stating they will not uphold the claim for ppi on a previous credit card as they dont believe it was mis sold as all the staff was fully trained, they acknowledged that I had said I didnt want the ppi and that I didnt ask for it.
My question is what do i do next, i have 28 days to write to them before they close the claim, but what else should i put in the letter? I wasnt given an option to decline the ppi, which is what i have already told them....please help.

    If this was the Banks full and final response then you have the right to go to the Ombudsman as the final arbiter of your complaint;

I have been trying to claim PPI from Marketing & Management Svcs Ltd. They organised a loan from Southern Pacific Personal Loans Ltd. There is a lot of confusion as to who should be considering the claim. Lloyds whose policy it was have stated that the complaint is with the original vendor, They say where the complaint relates to the sale of the policy the syndicates do not beleive that FOS has jurisdiction over the syndicates in respect of the complaints. It is their understanding that the FOS will be considering a number of "lead" or "test" cases and wait for the rulings. Has anyone else come across this ?

Only the seller of the policy can actually mis-sell!
You'll have to wait for FOS to come back to you over whether they have jurisdiction once a ruling is made. I'd still put in a complaint to the seller in the meantime, assuming you have valid reasons to do so.
