PPI Reclaiming successes and failures

Am new to this forum, not sure if I need to start a new thread? Anyway I have received an offer from the above on PPI insurance I had on the card. BF are offering to repay all premiums from the date I ceased to be in full-time employment. They say that they're only obliged to keep records for a maximum of 6 years, so the refund is based on premiums they have a record of. However, the card started in Jan 1997 and at that time I was in full employment and had generous sick pay and redundancy benefits from my employer, so no need for PPI. I therefore feel that I should be compensated for those 3 years of full-time employment too.(I began working part-time in 2001). I have written to them stating my argument but have not heard back from them after 8 weeks of waiting. They did state in their offer letter that this was not their final response and I could take the matter further with them if i wished (which I did). The quesrion is whar should I do now? Do I accept their initial offer or press on with my case against them or go to the FOS?
Ant replies/suggestions gratefully received.

Hi Di
Can I ask what information you presented to Lloyds to make your complaints. I have approached them once with an old UDT direct loan account number but they responded by saying that their records don't go back that far and could I send more information. I intend to dig out some old paperwork over the weekend to see if I have the relevant loan agreements.
Many thanks.
Hiya
I luckily still had old loan agreements, although some data was produced through an SAR through their data dept, and others directly in the bank, so you could try the bank to ask if they have anything, it will be easier to go to the bank directly if local to you, so that you do not get fobbed off on the phone.
Anything you have, even statements may help, but always send them copies only and not the originals.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
Congrats on your success. You may be able to help.
I had a loan with MBNA of £15k that I took out in 2003. I have received a cheque for £2938 last week but there were no calculatons. Just a cheque. I am grateful but I received nearly twice that from Egg for a loan of £12k.
I guess I am interested in your loan amount?
Understand if you do not wish to reveal.
Thanks
PPI redress is paid on the actual PPI amount that was on the loan and that you actually paid, it does not follow the larger the loan the greater the PPI payout for mis sell.
Did you get the figures of how they worked the redress out for MBNA one? if you did then post them up and we will see if the redress was correct, you need the loan term start and end date, the total PPI amount, if the PPI was cancelled at any point or settled early, all these go to work the redress out.0 -

I just received a letter today from my loan company and was offered just over £5000 pounds which is fantastic
I am very happy and happy with help from this forum. I am still waiting to hear from a couple of others... so all is good.
They said they will send the money by cheque, I just wanted to know is this the norm and also does anyone know what the tax would be payable on this amount and other amounts that I receive.
Thank you:)0 -

I sent 2 ppi requests to Halifax two weeks ago and got a letter of acknowledgement confirming that they will investigate and respond within 8 weeks. Fingers crossed!
Things like this never happen to me, my hubby and I are in severe financial hardship and reading these stories is making me really emotional because just getting a few hundred back would make such an enormous different to us, I can't bear to think about actually getting any money back in case it doesn't happen
Best of luck with you claimx
Hi, have you had any luck yet? We still have only had two confirmation replies and no offers yetx

I am moving abroad in 5 weeks so need to try and get as many sorted a possible before i leave.0
