    Morning guys,
I had loans over the last 5 years with HSBC, I rang up and asked if I had PPI and if it could be investigated, it took 12 weeks but I have just had an offer of £13,500. extremely pleased, it will come in extremely handy for when the new addition to the family arrives in 2 weeks :)

I have sent the letter back, does anyone know if they pay the money out quickly? or do they wait the entire 'up to 4 weeks after receiving confirmation'?

    Thanks

Don't know if this is typical or just this particular company but had an "upheld" letter from Central Capital 2 days ago for almost 3k which stated they will not pay it until end of September and this date isn't guaranteed but wont be earlier. advice I had on another thread is that there are no rules for speed of payment. my O/H really needs this money to pay off debts but looks like have to wait.
Really hope this isn't the case for you.
    Fingers crossed

    Thanks again,

I had a look at my on line statement this morning and my loan has been reduced by a couple of thousand. I phoned the PPI department again and was told that I will definitely be getting the whole amount of money awarded to me but they had to adjust my loan first, so much happier again today but will believe it when I see it in my account.

When paying the tax is it literally divide the 8% portion by 5 and give them that? I tried to get through to the tax office yesterday and was on hold for about 20 minutes without speaking to anyone, any idea how to get through to them?

Hope this is of help to others - the phone number HSBC quote on their PPI letters of 023 8072 3004 will never be answered (been told this by an employee of HSBC). I was given the number 0800 881155 to phone and the chap I spoke to could not have been more helpful - he took my details, searched by file and confirmed within 10 minutesthat my claim had been upheld and the offer letter had been posted the previous day.

Wow!! I might try ringing, I just put a new thread on here, as I sent my claim forms to HSBC 9 weeks ago and have not heard a single thing :( I havent a clue wether they are even dealing with my claim? All I want to know is if they are, and how long it will take? How long did you have to wait to hear from them after you sent off claim?
    Thanks for sharing your success

I followed all the advice and procedures on this site to make a PPi credit card claim against Egg. Barkleys have taken them over, and so did it through them. Had to send off the letters, questionnaires, etc... and was told that it would take 8 weeks to receive an answer.

That was in February. Eight weeks later, I got a letter saying it was going to take a little longer than expected, due to them chasing up some paperwork, and I was free to speak to the FO if I felt it necessary... but they asked that if I could be patient, it would be appreciated.

In the meantime, my partner has phoned up his bank about 2 different PPI claims with the halifax, sent of no letters whatsoever and has received final responses and cheques back, all within 8 weeks from start to finish.

I, on the other hand have had to phone Barkleys to see what's going on only to hear things like:

"There's only 30 of us here, and there's a backlog, but we're getting new staff next week, so that will speed things up." (2 months ago)

"Your paperwork has now arrived, so it shouldn't be long now, weeks rather than months" (1 month ago)

"We're dealing with the backlog and are only processing January's claims now, so I wouldn't be expecting a resolution if I were you for at least another 3 months!" (yesterday)

They always say that I can go to the financial ombudsman if I prefer, but when I spoke to them, they said this is just a stalling tactic that they use, as they know that it'll add an extra 12 months before they have to pay out.

It really doesn't seem fair that they're doing this, when other banks appear to be paying by the rules.

Has anybody had any success speeding up a claim with them by sending any extra letters or anything? Any suggestions welcome. so frustrating

    Hi

I wrote to HSBC on 23rd March as I had no loan account numbers and received a response within 3 weeks giving me details of my loan accounts and asking me to now fill in the official complaints form (you may already have sent this in). This was received by HSBC on 25th April. They seem to stick to the 8 week deadlines where they can so I would suggest a phonecall just to check they have received your documents.

    Best of luck.

I didn't want to post on here until I actually had the money in my bank, but just to say I have successfully managed to claim back far more than I expected from First Direct.

When I phoned them about my loan from the mid 90s, they were incredibly helpful, looked up my details for me, because funnily enough I don't still have the paperwork, and told me that I had paid PPI and if I wanted to claim the address was on their website.

I downloaded and completed the form from here, sent it off, and got a letter back telling me they would look into it and get back to me within 8 weeks.

Less than 8 weeks later, I got a reply telling me that I was due £9200 back. Not only had they looked at the loan I told them about, they had also included other smaller loans I hadn't even remembered. I was expecting a few hundred pounds. What a result! The money was in my account within a couple of weeks. I always rave about First Direct to everyone, and stupidly, felt a bit bad about claiming from them, but they couldn't have been more helpful.

Shame I can't say the same about Next Directory, who have been remarkably unhelpful.

    Hi there.
Thanks ever so much for posting that important number!!
I rang and spoke to a lovely woman, extremely helpful!
Found out that they had sent me a letter on 29th may, but to my old address they held on the system (even though my claim had new address on).
But she sorted it out and is getting letters sent to me. Including an offer woo hoo.
Just waiting for her to ring back, as I have another question for her. Need to know if both the loan ppi claims will be in 1 letter, or if will have been done separatly with 2 different offers?? Do you know how that works by any chance? So technically they did stick to the 8 weeks.. so pretty good. But I am so glad I found your post, otherwise I would have had to wait much longer!
    Thanks again!
    Thanks a lot.
  • Hi, We have just received our first rejection letter from MBNA, my husband was self employed and we did not ask for ppi but had to pay it anyway we got some print out sheets attached with little ticks in to say that we asked for it, we know we didn't it was added on weeks after. Do we fight on or just leave it. Any advice would be great.

Just heard that another claim has been rejected by Black Horse is this a stalling tactic and is it worth going to the Ombudsman.
