    Hi All,

Firstly I wanted to say a huge thanks to all the people on this board, who encouraged me to put in a claim for PPI.

My claim was to HSBC for 2x credit cards and 1 personal loan.

HSBC have agreed to pay £630 back for PPI on my loan!!:j

But in regards to my credit cards they have said that they cant take it any further as these date back to 1999 and they do not hold records that far back.
I canceled the PPI in 2003. They do have record of that. I do not have any old statements or paperwork.

Is there any thing i can do? I had paid PPI from 1999 to 2003 so quite a long time too.

Would it be worth sending them a SAR or is this the end of the road on this claim?

Any help would be gratefully appreciated! :money:

    W
:j:j well done on your win

With the CC, due to the year this data may have been destroyed, you could try for a Sar and see what it comes back with.

HSBC say that because PPI was too old, they have no record of it. i have the carbon copies of the agreements, which i have sent them, but they say that is not enough. the loan was paid off in 2004. they say they need bank statements to show the debits. any ideas?

Unless you can supply statements from this period, your complaint is dead in the water, I'm afraid.

    Lloyds Tsb mortgagesure update

Lloyds have now decided to uphold my complaint after saying they weren't upholding it. To cut a long story short.... Said they weren't paying out cause the ppi was optional and sent me copies of my mortgage paperwork from 2006( when I added more money to my mortgage) on this it said ppi was optional, but I found my old paperwork from 1997 saying that I had to take mortgagesure ppi as a condition of my mortgage and that it had to be Lloyds. Asked them to reconsider, still was not doing anything about it, said the paperwork didn't arrive, sent it twice recorded delivery, said it still hadn't arrived, emailed CEO at Lloyds and 4 weeks later( today) I get an offer letter for £4888.64. So don't give up if you get a rejection letter because I think the banks are hoping that you won't take it any further.

    Wins so far:
Halifax credit card: £8874.64 ( result and paid within 6 weeks)
Lloyds Tsb loan : £2774.76 (result and paid within 8 weeks )
Lloyds Tsb mortgagesure : £4888.64 (result 16 weeks, waiting on payment)
  • Hi There,
I am a newby at this and this is my first post...Anyways Leeds Building Society, We took a mortgage out with them in September 2010 and we did sign the mortgage agreement with the PPI added on, but we did this as the woman who sold us the mortgage said we HAD to take this insurance to get the package deal on our mortgage (basically because it is a shared ownership mortgage). I logged a complaint and had a very quick response, within 7 days, and it was the 'final response' saying we werent mis-sold this product and a load of photocopies of our mortgage details. Anyhow the only thing i had done is fill an online complaints form that is tick boxes and very brief so do you think i should send a letter explaining this and see if it makes a difference or just go onto the financial ombudsman? It does say to contact them if i wish to add any additional information?
Sorry im rambling but it has peeved me off as I have no actual proof of what she said, its our word against hers :(
Please give me some advice it would be very much appreciated :)
  • Just wanted to say a huge thank you to all of you for the wonderful advise this forum offers. 7 weeks ago I sent the questionnaire I found on this website to Lloyds TSB claiming for a loan and credit card I had taken out in 1999, I had no account numbers or start dates only my current account number! A week later I received a letter back from Lloyds, they had located both account numbers and were investigating my complaints. I have logged in to my account this morning to find £1790 has been paid in :j
I have no idea if this is for the loan or credit card or a combination of both!
    Thank you everybody!

After my success my brother is looking into his old loans to see if he has a case for mis-selling. He is requesting his credit agreements at the moment to see how the PPI has been added. At the time of taking out the loans he was in the armed forces which would exclude the need for PPI cover. Can somebody confirm that this would be the case? Also, after leaving the army he has been self employed which i think would also exclude him from needing PPI cover?? any help would be greatly received.

Thanks to Money Saving Experts top advice on PPI I managed to claim back almost £4000!

I was reclaiming PPI on a loan I had taken out about 5 years ago with Halifax.

I applied for the loan over the phone and was basically told by the seller that unless I took their insurance I would not be able to get the loan. I was prettty desperate for the loan at the time so didnt think twice about saying ok.

Thinking back now, the seller never told me what the insurance covered, how much it cost, how long it lasted etc. All I was told was that I would be rejected for the loan if I didnt take it.

Skip forward a few years and after reading the advice on this website I realised that I had been missold PPI and could make a claim.

I followed the guidance offered on the site to fill out the claim form and used most of the statements prepared by MSE.

I recieved a reply from the Halifax within a week of sending them my claim and then had an offer of £3,750 within about 6 weeks.

Now with this I can totally clear a couple of credit cards I had sitting with money on them and still have some cash left over to put towards a deposit on a house.

I'd advise anyone who is not sure if they should bother claiming or not to read the advice on this website and go for it if you think you may have been missold.

    Get it up ye Halifax!

  • I've had quite a good two weeks :)

Last week, I had a letter informing me that Barclays were upholding my complaint on my Overdraft Protection PPI, and that I would receive £3700 from them within 10 days!

Yesterday, I returned home to find that Egg have upheld my Egg Loan PPI complaint, and I would receive £2000 from them!

Added to the £2500 from MBNA I have already received, I am a very very happy boy!

Still have to complain about my Firstplus PPI, which I have just realised I am still paying for even though my policy has expired. Does anyone know how they calculate the PPI amount to be returned? I received my '5 Year PPI premium refund' in April and am wondering how this will affect the overall loan balance if I reclaim the PPI.

Any Advice would be greatfully received
