PPI Reclaiming successes and failures

Hi, We have just received our first rejection letter from MBNA, my husband was self employed and we did not ask for ppi but had to pay it anyway we got some print out sheets attached with little ticks in to say that we asked for it, we know we didn't it was added on weeks after. Do we fight on or just leave it. Any advice would be great.
Just heard that another claim has been rejected by Black Horse is this a stalling tactic and is it worth going to the Ombudsman.
With the MBNA, if it is not a final response, write back to them and reject the reasons for not upholding, reiterate the fact that your hubby was self employed and would not have been able to get a sick note from himself to prove to MBNA that he could not work so the sickness part of the cover would have been of no use to him, if he had life insurance, then that is another part of the PPI that he already had cover in place for, you have to let them know that this card would have been paid in any event, show you did not need this PPI.
If it was final response then send it to FOS with the same reasons.
Is the Black Horse a loan, what reasons did they reject this for and did you pay the PPI to this in one monthly payment for the PPI and the loan together?.0 -
Same question really, Just had rejection letter today from Black Horse, our main reason was that it was front loaded... is the ombudsman likely to uphold this? Are Black Horse just hoping people who get rejection letters dont take things any further?
What reasons did they use for rejecting?.0 -

I would be extremely grateful if someone could point me in the direction of the template letter for reclaiming ppi.I have searcged and all i can find is a questionnaire.
TIA:T
It is the questionnaire that you use, make a copy in case you have to send this to FOS in the future.0 -
As the account is closed they do not have to provide you with a copy of the agreement, if you have the card number and reasons for mis sell, just put the claim in, if you paid PPI it will show on every statement that you received each month. Please can anyone advise me? I paid off my Capital One card account last November and closed the account. In May this year I sent the standard template letter from this site asking for a copy of the agreement and a cheque for £1.00.
I have just received a letter from Cap 1 which says, 'Where there is no sum which is, or will, or may become payable under the credit agreement, then the obligation to provide documantation under section 78 of the Consumer Credit Act 1974 does not apply. Therefore on the basis of the above we have no obligation to provide you with a copy of the documents that you have requested.'
Does this mean that I didn't pay any PPI? Should I believe them? Thankyou.
The agreement may not show PPI as this is usually added at a later date.
Give them a ring and ask if PPI was on there if you have no statements.0 -
It is Black horse that you need for this, do you have any info at all regarding these loans and when were they closed, depending on the year you took these out it is possible that any company will not have the details now as the data may have been destroyed.hello
Could someone advise me on my problem.
I've had many loans over the years and some of them have either been tookover by another company or the company does'nt exsist any more.Could someone tell me where i can find what company has taken over a company that does'nt exsist anymore.

We are claiming for 2 loans and a cc with Lloyds. Phoned them 7wks ago yesterday To set the ball rolling and phoned them today for an update. The loans have both been upheld and they are paying us £3250 whoop whoop :rotfl: so far they have not made a decision on the cc yet as its a different dept. The lady on the phone could not have been nicer. Very pleased :j0

Hi All,
Firstly I wanted to say a huge thanks to all the people on this board, who encouraged me to put in a claim for PPI.
My claim was to HSBC for 2x credit cards and 1 personal loan.
HSBC have agreed to pay £630 back for PPI on my loan!!:j
But in regards to my credit cards they have said that they cant take it any further as these date back to 1999 and they do not hold records that far back.
I canceled the PPI in 2003. They do have record of that. I do not have any old statements or paperwork.
Is there any thing i can do? I had paid PPI from 1999 to 2003 so quite a long time too.
Would it be worth sending them a SAR or is this the end of the road on this claim?
Any help would be gratefully appreciated! :money:

You should get the PPI back that you have paid to date , I am not too sure how MPPI works to be honest, I know how a loan is redressed so if this works the same as a loan then you get the PPI back plus 8%.I've payed mppi for 6 years at £25 p/mHow do I work out what payment I should receive from them( it's at the calculations stage)
Any help would be really helpfull.0
