PPI Reclaiming successes and failures

Good for you, this shows how the banksHi all,
well after reading many posts on here i put in my complaints to 3 banks.
First final response letter today from Yorkshire bank and as expected from them the complaint was rejected  . The reasons being i would have needed the PPI,also I (so they say) ticked the box and their staff acted with with due care, skill and diligance. They also put in a little dig that it was my own fault i had been paying it since 1996 on a credit card..
Having gone through the copy of my agreement I can safely say the whole application on the card was a fix.. Sheet one shows in my writing that my income at the time was 5k+ and that i did not run a car and yes the little magic box shows a tiny tick (which i did not do).
Sheet two shows Income of 5k+ overwritten to say 13k+ (not my writing by the way) and that my vehicle running costs were £700 per anum ( quite expensive as i didn,t have a car on the first sheet) . a
Also my annual surplus was 6.5K..(very strange when my income was 5k+ to start with..
Half hour after reading the total rubbish on the sheet , logged a complaint to FOS. Now this may take a year to deal with but I am very confident on the outcome
.. To any others with rejection letters , do not give up and fight on..
"made income and expenditure up" to suit them selling this PPI.0 -
Hi Amersall
Quick question, who is David Chan, I've e-mailed Bob Diamond twice with no response and I'm now at week 18 for an Egg card now being dealt with by Barclays due to ring them again this week last reply was it had been escalated to the directors office
Is David Chan someone who will get things moving after so long?
Thanks in advance for any advice
David is the managing director of Barclaycard, keep sending emails to Diamond, someone will get p***ed off eventually :rotfl:0 -

My advice to anyone is go for it, it only cost me an hour or so or my time and the cost posting the forms. Any queries I had were answered brilliantly on here. Very happy!
Absolute pleasure
My bill is in the post :rotfl:0% and no Vat :cool:0 -
Thanks Amersall
To be honest I'm the one getting peed lol off with the stalling tactics but will e-mail now and see what happens and keep everyone posted

My husband has been self-employed for almost 30 years and had PPI included automatically when he took out a credit card with Bank America/MBNA. He discovered that they would not pay out to self-employed customers when he was off work for 2 weeks following surgery a couple of years ago.
After reading the information on this website, he filled in the standard Claim form found on the FSA Website and sent it off.
Last week he got a letter from Bank America advising that he was eligible for a refund and a cheque would be issued to him within 28 days - the sum involved was just a few pounds short of £13,000!!!
I call this a result :j:j
Have a go if you're unsure - all it will cost is a bit of time to fill in the form and the price of a stamp.
50p + 1 hour = almost £13,000

I have had three loans with Tesco Finance, one in 2002 for around £8,000 and two others a few years later for about £5,000 total. Being the cautious type I ticked the PPI box (these were online applications), however, after reading stories on here I decided to try and make a claim.
My arguement was that although I had agreed to the PPI, I hadn't realised that:
1. I could also buy this insurance frome elsewhere (possibly cheaper).
2. I already had accidental injury/sickness/redundancy insurance for my mortgage which would have paid out enough to pay the monthly installments.
From writing to receiving a cheque for around £3,600 took about eight weeks. All very easy & straightforward!0 -
on what basis did you claimHi,
Just to let you know that I had my complaint against the Bank of Scotland for credit card payment protection insurance upheld. I received an offer today of £1,742 as redress
Many thanks to all of the wonderful people here who give so much time and advice to the rest of us. I couldn't have done this without your help. xx

Morning guys,
I had loans over the last 5 years with HSBC, I rang up and asked if I had PPI and if it could be investigated, it took 12 weeks but I have just had an offer of £13,500. extremely pleased, it will come in extremely handy for when the new addition to the family arrives in 2 weeks
I have sent the letter back, does anyone know if they pay the money out quickly? or do they wait the entire 'up to 4 weeks after receiving confirmation'?
Thanks0 -
Hey Guys
I called Abbey National / Santander Thurs 7th June and they had all my details from a loan from 2005-2010... Logged my complaint ... Called them back 11th June as I forgot to get my ref no and they stated that an offer of £3001 has been sent out in the post!!! Received that yesterday , accepted and the money will be in my bank within two weeks!! Can't believe how easy it was :T0
