Hi I have had sucess claiming on my Abbey Mortggage Protection insurance which I have been paying since 2002.

I knew what it was and that I was paying it, however when we originally took it out we were told we would be more likely to get the mortgage if we went with it. It also gave us piece of mind, however I went to amend the policy in April and I found out that it had been mis-sold in the fact the payout if anything happend was half what we were expecting, and did not tally with the original paperwork we had.

A call into santander and two weeks later an offer appeared in the post, I was expecting it to be an acknoledgement letter for my complaint. I now have £7.2k in my account and all within 17 days of making my complaint.

    Hi,

whatever you do don't use a claims company. It couldn't be easier to claim yourself in my experience. I phoned L/TSB to enquire where to write to send a SAR and was asked if it was relating to a PPI claim, I said yes and the very helpful lady told me she could start the claim over the phone for me. 2 phone follow up calls from them and a quick call at the weekend just to see how it was getting on and I'm they very lucky and grateful winner of quite a large amount of money.

I received my offer letter yesterday 1 month start to finish, just waiting for the money to arrive.

I don't think they've included my claim for the credit card I used to have so I'm going to phone to check with them if it is them or a different number I need to contact about that as the letter said it was relating to this part of my claim.

Just phoned and now very upset. I have an open loan and they said they'd be paying the money towards that, the problem is I need to pay off other stuff more urgently as my income reduces drastically in a couple of months time. They are putting in a request to pay directly to myself but I don't hold out much hope. Only good thing is they hadn't included my claim for the credit card in their assessments, it had been missed off altogether so that's being started now. Just feel like crying at the minute.

It's so unfair, yes I got myself into trouble by overspending as so many others have but I've never been late with a payment, and I've got my loan scheduled and can easily cope with the regular payment. However if I hadn't been sold the PPI (had all sorts of cover so it was never needed) I would have paid everything back already and I could really do with this money.

    Hi,

Not sure if anyone can advise. Recently wanted to get in with all this PPI but didnt know where to start. I read the advice on this website and i've now sent off 3 questionaires to Mint, MBNA and Capital One. Only things is I didn't have any of the account numbers, will this be an issue?

Also contacted Nationwide and they confirmed that I did have it and they were going to contact me over the next 14 days, Anyone else been successful with Nationwide?

    Hi there

I'm not sure if it work's for all, but if you had say priority debts to clear, for example, council tax arrears, mortgage/rent, utility bills etc, you could write to confirm this to the bank/business and tell them you wish to use the refund towards the debts you have to try to clear as a matter or priority.

However, any interest should be paid directly to you.;)

    Hi there

Wishing you luck on the reclaiming.

Hopefully they will track down your account numbers, as some will do, but they will otherwise write to let you know if they're unable to track them down, and request you try getting hold of these.
So if it does come to this, check any old bank statements, the loan account numbers where you paid the monthly repayments from should be enclosed on them, but otherwise if any of the banks are local to you, they may check them out for you, or you can do so online if you're still with the same bank as such.

Hope this helps, let us know how you get on and we can take it from there, good luck.:)

The thing is they go back about 10 years and my online statements only go back 6. Do you think someone in the branch will be able to help?

Only thing i can say about Nationwide is that they have been very efficient with me. They only took 5 weeks to give me a response, however i was disgusted at the letter they sent as it seemed to me to be a standard rejection letter with a few of my personal details added and none of my arguments had been answered.
3 weeks ago i replied to their letter and am now waiting to hear if their final response remains the same... I shall let you know when i hear!
