HI did u do a SAR to get and if u did how long before u got an answer.many thanksnorthWalesMoneySaver wrote: »After receiving great advice on here I contacted my bank (Lloyds TSB). They were able to give me a printout of all the products I've had with them over the years, and the printout indicated which of these had PPI.
I had 3 loans with PPI, so completed 3 forms and for the 2nd and 3rd loan I said that the reason for the loan was to consolidate the previous loan.
8 weeks later almost to the day, I checked my internet banking and 3 payments had been paid in. About a week later, 3 letters arrived, each one a day after the next.
It seems that they have treated the 3 loans as individual cases, and not taken into account that the subsequent loans were consolidation loans.
The first loan (I had no paperwork), they have offered the standard £1,200.
The second loan (i had the paperwork), they have given refund of premiums £1,590.28 + £1, 300.21 interest = £2,890.49
The third loan (i also had the paperwork), they have given refund of premiums £842,70 + 734.95 interest = £1, 577.65
Total paid into my account was 5, 668.14
Would you accept this offer and let that be the end or do you think I should dispute it because they havn't taken the consoidation status of the loans into consideration. Is there a chance I could end up worse off?
I found it strange that the money was in my account before I'd received the letter with their offer - let alone accept it.
Its difficult not to start spending the money!
Many thanks as usual in advance.0 -
Hi
I didn't get a SAR. I just asked in my local branch for details of the products I have had with them over the years. Before this I had phoned the helpline (based in South Wales I think), but they had no records of any PPI loans. My local branch told me that the records were held on their legacy system. This is why the call center had no record (seems strange to me?). Anyway, within 3 days my local branch had printed off a list of the products along with the dates and whether any had PPI.
Luckily I had copies of the original loan agreement papers for 2 out of the 3 loans. Without these i guess i would have had to do a SAR, otherwise just accept the standard £1,200 per loan.0 -
Reclaiming: Loans
Provider: Lloyds TSB
How much did you get back: £13,078.93
Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: 2 telephone calls to the PPI Claims Line
After humming and arrghing about reclaiming - made the call and got the Credit Agreements and thought might be entitled to a couple of grand refund.
Made the call 6 months later :mad: and it was so easy - answered one simple question about WHY I thought I was entitled to refund and Bobs your Uncle, the letter came today to say that I had the above refund.
Letter dated 31st May so am hoping that funds will be in my account very soon.
Will make such a difference as about to lose all my disability payments for my daughter and had been stressing about it - this will pay off the overdraft, credit card and leave some savings too x
Thank you MSE and all those lovely people on the PPI board who answered my inane and frankly silly worries x

Hi there,
Following on from my successful claim against Santander for mis-sold PPI on my mortgage, today I received a letter offering me £730 for a loan that I had 8 years ago with them.
Total claimed back is £4830 and one more pending.
Thanks again for all the superb advice from everyone:j:j:j0 -
Hi All,
Hoping someone can give me some advice re. Going about my complaint to the FLA re. Santander....sorry bit of a long one so you know the history;).
I took out a Debenhams Santander card in 2003. My company provided me with good benefits, I had savings and other means to re-pay the card should anything happen.
My claim was that I didn't remember selecting to take the insurance. I didn't remember any information given to me, nor the cost, benefits & terms being explained to me before taking the insurance, and that it was also not explained that alternative insurance could be purchased elsewhere.
Santander have responded, and given me a copy of my agreement showing that I signed to take out the PPI. They then go onto advise "therefore it appears that it was made clear that the policy was optional, and that you elected to take out the insurance".
They then include the standard paragraph re. a policy summary and policy document is mailed to the customer for their review, and offer a 30 day no quibble guarantee where the product may be cancelled (haven't got a copy of this...and they haven't provided me with proof that it was sent or I received).
Santander add " In relation to the reference to the sales process in store, there was no requirement upon us to record the sales process, and so we have no way of knowing what took place, however if any of the matters that you suggest took place, you would have been able to call at any time in the first 30 days, and we would have removed the insurance from your account.
As I can find no evidence of the mis-selling of the insurance I am unable to refund the premiums applied. I can confirm that the insurance was cancelled on 10 December 2009"
I'm not satisfied with Santander's response, and acknowledge that the agreement shows my signature selecting PPI, but believe they have failed to prove they assessed my needs in order for me to sign the agreement. My company provided me with good benefits, and I had the means to re-pay the card, but Santander have not made any comment or proved what measures they took to prove that although I had other means, I would still have benefited and it was within my best interest to have this insurance.
I have checked my January 2012 statement and the insurance was still there....again Santander have not sent me proof of the cancellation....so I also need to challenge this.
In hind sight, no one was aware of mis selling until the recent publicity, so the insurance was always left, as it was assumed PPI would benefit me...hence why I have never challenged it until now.
Appreciate any advice re. How to proceed with my complaint to the FLA.
