Write back to Santander and tell them that
" you should have read the booklet" is not a reason according to FOS for rejecting a complaint, also if you had other means to repay this card should the worst happen then tell them, prove you had no need of this PPI.
If you had sick benefits from work, life insurance, or any other means that meant you could pay this card, then use them.
Well done on your other win :j:j0 -
Hi Kuffs, cannot believe you are still on with this !! have FOS not sorted this mis sell PPI out yet?, this will reduce the balance when they do.0

Tesco success
Thanks to the advice on this site. I have successfully claim on a loan which I had taken out over ten years ago.I use the guidelines (templates) on this site and today Tesco have decided to offer me £3700 (including interest).
I would urge anyone with a valid claim to PPI to follow the guidelines on this site and don't be put off by anyone. Good luck!!
Thanks Nemz,:o I've got a Tesco credit card and on hearing your sucess, will definitely pursue a claim...only problem is I can't remember how the insurance was originally sold to me
?:( any advice before I complete the template letters?0 -
The whole PPI amount and interest should be removed from this loan balance, if your balance now is £4,452 this will reduce by £2,281, this is the original PPI and interest, leaving a balance of £2,171, the redress is £3,832 including the 8% this leaves a surplus amount of £1,661 to come to you and the loan is repaid.will PPI be included in this final debt amount which will reduce the total figure, and having my complaint upheld means the PPI should be removed,
Make sure that the balance you have is without the redress taken off, if it is then you get the £1,661 back to you, they cannot do this any other way.
You do not ask them to do this, this is how redress should be done, if it is not, then complain to FOS.
Give them chance to do these.I also have another 2 Citifinancial loan complaints in the system. I have not yet recieved the letter, is it best to wait, then take it to the FOS.0 -
Hi I am like many others trying to claim back any PPI that's owed to me.
I joined Credit Experian to help but unfortunately they only go back 6 years.
I want to know if there is a way of going back 10 years as I had a mortgage at a previous address that I paid off in full but was paying PPI on it. Now I dont have any records of account/ reference numbers nor can I remember the name of the mortgage provider. This one I would really like to find so if there is anyone who can help I would be grateful.
Thanks
10 years is a long time, if you don't know who the lender was then you cannot contact them to find out if they still have details on this loan, I would think that after 10 years this data will have been destroyed.0 -
is this refund right and is it for both loans?
Hi can anyone help please?
made a complaint to halifax re ppi 6 weeks ago and a 2nd complaint for another loan with halifax the week later, 2 complaint refs
the 1st loan was £3k loan in year 2000 with £599 charge for ppi + £180 (estimated based on other one) charge for credit for ppi,
in 2002 i got another loan from them which paid off that one for £5000 with £999 ppi and £300 charge for ppi credit
later in 2006 I got a 3rd loan which paid off the 2nd but with no ppi (never asked for or wanted or even knew I had ppi till phonecall 6 weeks ago!)
Been waiting very impatiently for post for what seems like forever for news of my claim, anyway got a letter today saying, "further to our recent letter confirming the amount of compensation etc etc",,, which I have never received but there was 3 cheques included
£660.24 quoting 1st complain ref and 1st loan ref
£2115.75 quoting 1st complaint ref and 2nd loan ref
£89.39 quoting 1st complaint ref and 3rd loan ref (the 1 with no ppi)
On a simple calculation adding 8% to £780 for 1st loan from 2000 and 8% on £1300 for second loan from 2002 I calculate for both I should have at least £3900 that isnt taking into consideration interest paid or rolled over in 2nd or 3rd loan or compensation for loss etc (if any of these even applies??)
so my questions are
firstly why do I have 3 cheques?
secondly is this for both loan ppi complaints as only the 1st complaint ref is quoted?
and finally do halifax take tax off or will I still need to do that?
Many thanks
ps obviously I am over the moon to have received anything for a 5 minute phonecall on the off chance I had been charged PPI0 -
just to add, I have never been in arrears with any of these loans and only just 6 weeks ago discovered I had paid ppi so never cancelled anything ........... if this is of any relevance at all??0
