Write back to Santander and tell them that
" you should have read the booklet" is not a reason according to FOS for rejecting a complaint, also if you had other means to repay this card should the worst happen then tell them, prove you had no need of this PPI.
If you had sick benefits from work, life insurance, or any other means that meant you could pay this card, then use them.

Well done on your other win :j:j
Thanks alot for the advice its worth a shot i,ll keep u all informed

The first loan PPI was £779 including interest, when you settled this loan they would have given you a rebate of PPI that they take off the amount you won, they have given you £660.24 so it is safe to assume they have taken the rebate back.

The second loan PPI was £1,299 including interest, they would have given a rebate for the settlement on this and will have taken this back from your win, they paid you £2115.75 so they have given you over £800 more than the original PPI and they will have taken the rebate of PPI from this.

The 3rd loan is the remaining PPI that was left after the rebate from the 2nd loan.

Have they given you the 8% amounts or are they included in the figures that you have posted?.

The interest on the PPI is in with the PPI amount that they have given you back.

On the calculation letter it should show the 8% and if they have paid tax on this.

On a simple calculation adding 8% to £780 for 1st loan from 2000 and 8% on £1300 for second loan from 2002 I calculate for both I should have at least £3900 that isnt taking into consideration interest paid or rolled over in 2nd or 3rd loan or compensation for loss etc (if any of these even applies??)
The 8% is on a decreasing monthly scale, for each month you have paid the PPI this 8% amount decreases up to the date they paid you back, the nearer you get to the redress date, the less the 8% is.

When you win redress they give you back the PPI that you paid, this includes the interest and you get the 8% they have given you full redress as per FOS guidelines.

I have a very similar situation (Read on page 1473) We have two weeks left and have had no letter or anything yet. I hate this wait it's torture. If you hear anything let me know xx

Will let you know if I hear anthing. I have had success with a Lloyds loan from 2008, they paid within 4 weeks, have also had success with an Abbey Loan. I didnt recieve a phone call for either. However my Lloyds CC I did have a call and they rejected my claim(I'm appealing). Maybe because its a later date and for a larger amount they call. Fingers crossed:cool:
  • Hello all we have sent off a SAR request to l/tsb requesting details of all loans back to 1990.This went just over 2 weeks ago does anybody know how long lloyds are taking on dealing with such request. We have already claimed some back since 2001 but not in the 90s does anyone think that the SAR unit just might pass onto the ppi claims section any other outstanding loans that had ppi on them automatically.I think fat chance but i am forever the optomist ha ha.
Thanks for your time everybody. Good luck to all and keep claiming

    Thanks amersall,
also have another 2 Citifinancial loan complaints in the system. I have not yet recieved the letter, is it best to wait, then take it to the FOS.
Sorry amersall, I was taking about the first loan, where I have spoken to them on the phone, but not recieved the letter she said was sent on 21st May, because, she said the full amount was going to redress the debt of £4452. I will wait for the letter then take it from there.
I am waiting patiently for the other 2 Citi loan complaints. So glad to know the loan will be paid, and I will have a little left to pay other things.
    Thanks again.

Hi it would only be Santander lol I am also having problems with them for period 96-2001. I have contacted FOS mid may and they have written to them as they sent me a letter rejecting my claim as they said they had no records and def nothing over six years. I contacted them to say I already knew that as MBNA have them  and I had sent a letter and rang explaining all this. It seems Santander are not liasing with them to get the documents. When I phone them they really do not know what is happening. I asked if they had fos letter and they said it takes four weeks to show on system...so waiting now for MBNA docs as I sent them a request for SAR or maybe Santander will actually do something about my ppi

how would they know you got a booklet or are they just assuming (prob something they will hit me with)

I hadnt claimed as had cover and sick pay and went long term sick in 2003 but didnt claim on ppi as never knew I was paying it
