Well, had a letter this week for PPI claim upheld from Barclays
£1400 and I didn't even fill out the questionnaire as well as I could have.
could not remember account number etc!!
could only give then the address I lived at when taking out the loan!!!
That's the good bit,The bad news is they have credited the amount to an account that i am 1800 quid into overdraft,so wont see the lovely money!!!
But I took on the greedy bank and won and its help me get out of some debt!!!!
real chuffed with myself and for those who are doubting because of lack of info just do it the banks have to be more responsible than you about the details of such finances - there the ones who have had their wrists slapped!!!
Good luck every one !!!0 -
Hi, I'm new to forums and this is my first post so I hope I dont show myself up! I'm after abit of advice, a few months ago I received a letter from my NEXT Directory advising me that they would be cancellng my payment protection insurance?????? I knew nothing about paying this and feel abit of an idiot to be honest. I have not used the account for over a year and when I pulled out some old statements it was staring right at me. I was so annoyed with myself that I prnted off a claim form and proceeded indepedantly. have just received my response back from NEXT who are basically sticking their fingers up at me saying they are not in the wrong because they are not a bank and i cant complain to the financal ombudsman because they are not regulated?????
Any advice would be very much appreciated, thanx.0 -

Hi Magpielady
Sorry for the delay in getting back to you.
Yes, I have chased FOS on several occasions and I would not have known about Barclays agreeing to settle my Morgan Stanley complaint unless I called - it has certainly sped things up as I have a letter from FOS today saying they acknowledge me signing their agreement letter (I emailed it back) and Barclays should pay me my settlement within 8 weeks, if not, to contact them. By the way, I had the same letter as you in March also.
Don't hesitate to call them - they are a much friendlier bunch than the banks!
I hope you are successful with your claim - don't give up!0 -
Just wanted to thank everyone on this forum for all the information. Lloyds have just got back to me with my PPI claim and they even worked it out for the previous loans I had. One very happy PPI claimer here.0

Hi Everyone,
Just a quick word of advice concerning MBNA/Virgin Credit Card PPI. If you have been employed in a family business or you can influence the direction of the business by having family involvement, chances are you've been mis-sold their PPI. I have just had my claim upheld due to the fact that if you are related to any owner/director of a business that you work for, you are classed as Self-Employed - according to the tiny print in their T&Cs.
Hope this helps people.0 -
Does anyone know, if a complaint is upheld, and the original debt was sold to a dca, of whom are still being paid. Would the compensation from mbna, go to myself or the dca? Was sent a letter upholding my complaint which said I would recieve a cheque within 28 days. Here's hoping!! Thanks.0

After receiving great advice on here I contacted my bank (Lloyds TSB). They were able to give me a printout of all the products I've had with them over the years, and the printout indicated which of these had PPI.
I had 3 loans with PPI, so completed 3 forms and for the 2nd and 3rd loan I said that the reason for the loan was to consolidate the previous loan.
8 weeks later almost to the day, I checked my internet banking and 3 payments had been paid in. About a week later, 3 letters arrived, each one a day after the next.
It seems that they have treated the 3 loans as individual cases, and not taken into account that the subsequent loans were consolidation loans.
The first loan (I had no paperwork), they have offered the standard £1,200.
The second loan (i had the paperwork), they have given refund of premiums £1,590.28 + £1, 300.21 interest = £2,890.49
The third loan (i also had the paperwork), they have given refund of premiums £842,70 + 734.95 interest = £1, 577.65
Total paid into my account was 5, 668.14
Would you accept this offer and let that be the end or do you think I should dispute it because they havn't taken the consoidation status of the loans into consideration. Is there a chance I could end up worse off?
I found it strange that the money was in my account before I'd received the letter with their offer - let alone accept it.
Its difficult not to start spending the money!
Many thanks as usual in advance.0 -

I think that's why they put it into your bank first..coz they know once its in then it's unlikely you will contest it. I am not sure about your figures but I am sure someone will be along soon to give u their advice. Were waiting on a Lloyds ppi claim (see notes on page 1473) were on the 7th week now. Well done on the payout though
