i quoted that mis-sold on grounds that it would make it easier to get mortgage if i took ppi and that they never advised of other options0

Thanks Moneyineptitude...much appreciated...wish me luck :mad:0

Wow! That is great Tshirtsuntan. Do you mine me asking how long it took for your offer to come through? I am claiming from Barclays for my mam and send off the questionnaires a few weeks ago.
sent off 16th May 2012 -Received 07 June 2012.
I think it depends on individual circumstance maybe? If the bank think they have a point to argue or not- if you catch my drift......0 -
Hi,
Just to let you know that I had my complaint against the Bank of Scotland for credit card payment protection insurance upheld. I received an offer today of £1,742 as redress
Many thanks to all of the wonderful people here who give so much time and advice to the rest of us. I couldn't have done this without your help. xxOnwards and upwards! :rotfl:

I did PPI letters for my brother who defaulted on his loans, was declared bankrupt, and was discharged in Jan 2012.
Offer from Lloyds - c £16k. £12k cheque sent with no explanation. Cashed it, asked for remainder, no reply to went to FOS.
Offer from RBS - c£1,200. Cheque for £400 sent along with letter saying some had been allocated to his loan account and his monthly payment had been altered. Except, he doesn't pay any amounts any more.
Does anyone know the procedure for bankrupts? Perhaps this is why Lloyds didn't give him the full amount?0 -
gave them a call today, both claims are waiting to be looked at, i will contact them again every few weeks and hopefully get the news that they are progressing,Hi Magpielady
Sorry for the delay in getting back to you.
Yes, I have chased FOS on several occasions and I would not have known about Barclays agreeing to settle my Morgan Stanley complaint unless I called - it has certainly sped things up as I have a letter from FOS today saying they acknowledge me signing their agreement letter (I emailed it back) and Barclays should pay me my settlement within 8 weeks, if not, to contact them. By the way, I had the same letter as you in March also.
Don't hesitate to call them - they are a much friendlier bunch than the banks!
I hope you are successful with your claim - don't give up!0 -
i thank you for your prompt answer but we went to bank they only had some records which they gave us but this was far from complete hence THE SAR REQUEST.northWalesMoneySaver wrote: »Hi
I didn't get a SAR. I just asked in my local branch for details of the products I have had with them over the years. Before this I had phoned the helpline (based in South Wales I think), but they had no records of any PPI loans. My local branch told me that the records were held on their legacy system. This is why the call center had no record (seems strange to me?). Anyway, within 3 days my local branch had printed off a list of the products along with the dates and whether any had PPI.
Luckily I had copies of the original loan agreement papers for 2 out of the 3 loans. Without these i guess i would have had to do a SAR, otherwise just accept the standard £1,200 per loan.0 -
I followed all the advice and procedures on this site to make a PPi credit card claim against Egg. Barkleys have taken them over, and so did it through them. Had to send off the letters, questionnaires, etc... and was told that it would take 8 weeks to receive an answer.
That was in February. Eight weeks later, I got a letter saying it was going to take a little longer than expected, due to them chasing up some paperwork, and I was free to speak to the FO if I felt it necessary... but they asked that if I could be patient, it would be appreciated.
In the meantime, my partner has phoned up his bank about 2 different PPI claims with the halifax, sent of no letters whatsoever and has received final responses and cheques back, all within 8 weeks from start to finish.
I, on the other hand have had to phone Barkleys to see what's going on only to hear things like:
"There's only 30 of us here, and there's a backlog, but we're getting new staff next week, so that will speed things up." (2 months ago)
"Your paperwork has now arrived, so it shouldn't be long now, weeks rather than months" (1 month ago)
"We're dealing with the backlog and are only processing January's claims now, so I wouldn't be expecting a resolution if I were you for at least another 3 months!" (yesterday)
They always say that I can go to the financial ombudsman if I prefer, but when I spoke to them, they said this is just a stalling tactic that they use, as they know that it'll add an extra 12 months before they have to pay out.
It really doesn't seem fair that they're doing this, when other banks appear to be paying by the rules.
Has anybody had any success speeding up a claim with them by sending any extra letters or anything? Any suggestions welcome. so frustrating.0 -

Thanks for your time everybody. Good luck to all and keep claiming
A Sar is 40 days, this includes weekends, give them time.
If there are other loans, when you get the Sar, that you have not claimed for, then put the complaints in for these, if any of these loans were used to repay another loan off then they will look at these if you already have the complaint in, just to be on the safeside, ring and ask if they are looking at these if you get anymore info.0 -
Thanks amersall,
also have another 2 Citifinancial loan complaints in the system. I have not yet recieved the letter, is it best to wait, then take it to the FOS.
Sorry amersall, I was taking about the first loan, where I have spoken to them on the phone, but not recieved the letter she said was sent on 21st May, because, she said the full amount was going to redress the debt of £4452. I will wait for the letter then take it from there.
I am waiting patiently for the other 2 Citi loan complaints. So glad to know the loan will be paid, and I will have a little left to pay other things.
Thanks again.
You are very welcome x.
With the letter for the one you have won, you need to find out why the redress has gone to the loan and the whole PPI removed back to the loan as they owe you money, let me know what the calculations are and take it from there.
When you get the response for the 2 you are waiting for, if they are not upheld then post on here why they rejected and we will help you get back in touch with them, if it is not a final response, if it is a final response then you send the complaint to the FOS.0
