Hi Amersall,:)
Thank you soooooo much for the advice. I wasn't sure if I should complain to Redcats, having read of other folks experiences with them, but I will do as you say. I've nothing to lose. Please can you tell me what "a letter of authority" is? Shop Direct Finance Company say I need to include this with my Complaint to Redcats.0 -

I was unsure if I would be able to collect PPI from a loan with my bank, as I had fallen into arrears with the loan.
I was sure that in normal circumstances that I had a claim, as no way would I have ticked the box at 66/67 years of age to protect my income & I was retired & I had been unable to work due to a disability several years earlier, but my bank ticked the box after receiving my application.
I completed the template from this site & off it went.
I estmated that it would only be a small amount, so when a few weeks later, I was told that I was entitled to approx £772, including interst of approx £140.
The interest was paid to me by cheque, & the remainder was offset against the arrears on the loan.
I was very pleased with the outcome.

You are very welcome
:D
The signed complaint should be your authority, it just means that you give them permission to look at your account and deal with the claim, you could pop a letter in giving them authority to look at account number 1234 in respect of a PPI reclaim, this is just so they do not delay this any further by asking you later for a letter of authority! because I would not put it past them
let me know how you get on.
I would put the home shopping one to FOS, put a copy of all correspondence that you have received from the catalogue and quote
“So whilst it is important that the customer has access to the full policy documentation, it is not enough for the firm to say it met its obligations simply by sending the customer the policy document and highlighting the customer’s right to cancel the policy”.
Let FOS know that it is the initial cover that you are claiming for, make it known that you were a stay at home mum and would therefore not be able to have been made redundant, or claimed on the sickness part of the insurance, make sure you get this point across to FOS, these are 2 things that voided 2 of the reasons that you were covered for on the insurance .0 -
Success update
I had put in three complaints with Barclays bank, back in March and I received just over £800 :j (See my eariler post)
After reading the letter that Barclays had sent me I noticed that the payment was for two of the loans that I had complained about. I called Barclays about the third loan and I was told that they would log this complaint that day because they had not looked at it and I would received a new ref number.
Two weeks after my call I recived a letter from them saying that this claim was also up held . I had £3100 paid into my account just before the June bank holiday.:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
I also spoke to M&S this morning and was told that my complaint was up held Just waiting for the letter.:)
To date my husband and I have claim back a little over £20,100. :T
Failure
I got a rejection from Santander cards and capital one
I am still waiting to hear from Barclaycard (This was reopened) Will keep you all posted.
Thanks again to all on this site for your help and useful post.0 -
Many thanks Amersall I will get this sorted out prompto:) I will let you know what happens......I got an Argos card this week, and I couldn't believe it, when I phoned to activate the card, the adviser asked me if I was employed or not. As I am starting back to work in September, I am currently unemployed, and I told her so. She said, "We are very careful about selling our Insurance, and it so happens that our insurance is perfect for you". !! I couldn't believe what I was hearing! I let her finish her patter, and then said "No thanks"..I'll do without ! She persisted to try and persuade me, and i couldn't get off the phone for ages! Nightmare people!! I was nearly banging my head off the wall by the end of it with sheer frustration...The word "No" doesn't seem to compute! I'll stop ranting now.....until the next time ,,,:)0

Newby poster, please be kind

Followed the procedure on here and sent off questionairre yesterday, thanks for all the info. Lloyds TSB Business loan BLRI, grounds for misselling, told that the bank more likely to give us a loan if we took it out despite the fact that we told them we could cover payments from both our savings and family support, some of the details told to us in the face to face were wrong, policy was paid up front and added onto the loan. Anyone got any experience of the likelyhood of succeeding? We've known that we were conned at the time, but only recently realised that it was not just us and we could make a claim.0 -

I got a phonecall last week also asking about sick pay etc, was told 4 weeks ago my complaint was not getting upheld, but after supplying more information they are looking at it again. All I was told on the phonecall was.... That they would put this information onto the computer and I would get a letter deciding the outcome. Didn't say how long it would be but my 8 weeks are up, now on week 13.0 -
Hi All,
I got the ball rolling with by sending the HSBC questionaire off for an old loan (sent 17th May, no response as yet).
Reading all the other posts, im tempeted to claim on the following but dont really know how / and if PPI was ever 'ticked'?
HSBC gold Visa - hasd the card years! £0 balance at the mo.
should I claim?
Mint Mastercard - No mention of PPI claims on their rather amateurish web site, also had it years. This one is a bit weird as it does not show up on my Experian credit report?
Inchape - A car loan now fully settled. I'd love to claim on this, but have no evidence of understanding if this is covered by the PPI ruling as this is not one of the 'banks'?
Abbey National morgage - now closed as remorgaged - could this be worth looking into? does the PPI thing stretch to morgages?
Thats about it - any advice is always appriciated.
