  • Hi
Succesfully today got one cheque from Egg for £6680 and from Natwest for £10,500 - so very happy having spent the time doing this myself instead of through an agency - but - I have had the standard rejection from Mbna saying even though PPI was preselected on the form it was a non-advised sale and therefore i had sufficient time to make a decision about the product on offer. We are talking about 1998 and i only realised what it was in 2006 and cancelled it. Is this a standard answer - the form was pre-ticked - back then I had no clue what it was - it was basically something i had to have,..... worth going to FOS?

    Cheers

    Hi all
A very good friend of mine recently received 9k from Barclays for misselling of PPI.(she had no idea that she was paying PPI)!It was all very easy for her - she completed the FOS form, and eight weeks later ......result

Early April I decided to do the same as found out that I too had paid PPI on an EGG credit card and a loan (taken out in 2004)which I paid off in 2007.
I have an MBNA credit card - started in 2001 and an HSBC credit card which again I have had for ages.

I completed an FOS form for each of these accounts and stated that I was not aware of ever agreeing to PPI. I would not have needed it anyway as I have pretty much always worked for NHS had good sick cover and can honestly never have had any worry about redundancy.

I just feel I need a bit of reassurance that I have a case

    Thank you

Usually NHS staff will get paid out. You need to be clear on your employee benefits though.

Off the top of my head I think you require sick pay of 6 Months full pay, 6 Months half pay and either death in service of 2x salary or at least 6 Months salary for being made redundant.

    Hope this helps : )

    Barclaycard PPI claim.

Raised in January (missold due to not required it since I was covered from work and had savings) and they suggested resolution by March. End of April received confirmation that they did upheld my claim and they offered compensation.
Have sent forms to send the money to my account and waiting for the money to come in!

    UPDATE.
phoned barclaycard while relaxing in the sun.
asked for an update on my claim to be told a letter was sent out on the 11th saying my claim had failed, and the reasons why.
never received letter,as i'm guessing they never posted it, and they wouldnt explain over the phone why i'd not won my claim, just that they would send out another copy.
    (another delaying tactic)
told them ,ok fos it is, and see you in court if needed.
didnt sound bothered at the other end of the line, and was happy to get rid of me.
thanks barclaycard for making me wait 16 weeks to be told "no".
i know i've got a good case, you know i've got a good case, but lets make him wait another few months before we pay out.
ITS MY MONEY,YOU CONNED ME OUT OF IT,SO PAY UP.

any advice now would be helpfull, got letter coming from the fos, only got few statements from account i'm claiming for,but all show ppi on them.

my reasons for my claim are:

    1. i was told at point of sale in branch that i couldnt have credit card unless i had the ppi part. "no ppi no card." . if i'd know it was optional i wouldn't have left it on my account for the full time i held it. wasnt until all this ppi scandal came out that i realised i was mis sold it.

    2. didnt need ppi as i had been in full employment for over 7 years, had one months full sick pay,and full pay if off with serious injury.

    3. if i was made redundant ,i had over seven years of redundancy pay coming to me,which would have covered the balance of my credit card, and would have been paid off in full.

"put this on few threads i've been involved with,so sorry for repeating myself" any advice ,help would be great. good luck in all your claims.....if barclaycard involved you will need it. lol

your employee benefits aren't enough for an automatic Uphold. You need 2 of the following

at least 6 Months Months full sick pay and 6 months half sick pay

redundancy of at least 6 Months full pay

Death in Service cover of at least 2x salary.

    Hope this helps

    Hi
Just wanted to say thanks to the advice on this forum I put a claim in for a loan I had with Lloyds and received a letter yesterday upholding my claim and also offers for another three they have found.

I don’t think I will believe it until the money is in my account. :j

Please do this, they should not get away with it, there are others too who have been waiting far too long for a claim to be resolved.

"I discovered how usless PPI was about 10 years ago, I had a HSBC credit card which I defaulted on when my contract ended in my employment, I tried to claim through the PPI, I was told that I couldn't because I still lived at home with my parents, my Dad gave them some very choice words, but they refused to refund the PPI and sent me to a debt collectors. I think this was too long ago to claim and I don't have any of the account details, can anyone advise? "

I telephoned Lloyds to enquire how to get my old loan info on 21 April and they started a claim then. I was so stunned that the only thing I mentioned was that when I took my original loans out I was under the impression that I couldn't get a loan without PPI, however after I received my letter of acknowledgement I telephoned to let them know worked for a University then the health service, both of which at the time never ever made people redundant, if there were problems you were redeployed but redundancy packages were excellent in the unlikely event you were made redundant and would have covered my loan. I had Critical Illness Cover, Life Insurance and Income Protection cover. which I took out in my bank after speaking to Scottish Widows reps on bank recommendation.

I've heard nothing since my phone call to them (I also e-mailed this info).

I'm now waiting to hear back from the bank with a decision.

Keep your fingers crossed and well done to everyone with success stories. I'm hoping to get a nice surprise before my daughter goes off to university in September.

Update - bank phone yesterday to ask for information on my insurance policies, I told them what I could but said I'd be able to get dates for them so they phoned back today for the information.

I couldn't remember my specific terms and conditions for the University and NHS employment except the sick pay but they seemed quite happy with the information I gave.

The lastest info is they said I should hear by the end of June at the latest but as they were already looking at my claim it should be sooner than that.

Keeping everything crossed, and congratulations to everyone who has had a successful claim so far.
