  • What were you reclaiming: PPI taken out on a loan in 2002 then for 2 top up loans in 2004 and 2005
Who was the provider: Lloyds TSB
How much did you get back: £2904.18
Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: By submitting the questionnaire from this site
And then write your brief reclaim tale

Freshly out of uni I was struggling and went to the bank and asked for an extension on my overdraft. I was pressured into taking out a loan and also persuaded to have PPI. I knew I'd be quitting my job and moving soon so was told I should take it out in case it takes a while to find a new job. I got a new job straight away so didn't attempt to claim. When I went back for a top up loan I was told the PPI would not have covered me if I quit my job but I needed to continue with it as I sign up for it originally. The third time it wasn't discussed at all, just added.
I filed in the questionnaire from this site and posted it on 21st March 2012. I got an acknowledgement letter dated 2nd April 2012. After reading further info on this site I called Lloyds on 30th April 2012 and asked them to add that the PPI was front loaded to my complaint. I received no further correspondence but a payment was put in my account on 17th May 2012 by PPI Refunds. It appears to be for the correct amount.

I owe a huge thanks to this site and those on it who have offered advice and help. This money will make a big difference to me. I'm going to clear the £700 I have on my credit card, go on holiday and stash the rest for a rainy day. This is going to be the first time for a long I won't be battling to stay out of my overdraft.

Everytime I topped up the loan I was adamant that I didn't want PPI, could they have still applied it without me knowing?
If you had PPI it would show on the agreement.
I have also had car finance with Black Horse again adamant about not wanting PPI, and I currently have outstanding finance with vauxhall.
If PPI is on the agreement, and you were mis sold, then send the claim to Vauxhall, they sold you the loan and PPI.
I discovered how usless PPI was about 10 years ago, I had a HSBC credit card which I defaulted on when my contract ended in my employment, I tried to claim through the PPI, I was told that I couldn't because I still lived at home with my parents, my Dad gave them some very choice words, but they refused to refund the PPI and sent me to a debt collectors. I think this was too long ago to claim and I don't have any of the account details, can anyone advise?
I don't think they will have the details on this account any more, if you still have not paid this off, then you could try the company that you pay the debt to and see if they hold any details.
If you have cleared this, then you would find it hard to get any info on this.
    I
currently have a Barclaycard which was original Monument, then I think Provident bought them and then Barclaycard bought them. I have a Platinum account with a outstanding balance of 3,900 on a APR of 24.9% I have asked on several occasions for this to be lowered to the current rates of the platinum cards which is between 7 and 18%, each time I have called I told because I was Monument or Provident this can't be done, so why do I have a platinum account?
Because you were not originally a Barclays customer and it was another providers card.

    Hi to you all,
I am a new forum user.
My partner has just had an offer from Nat West. For PPI compensation.
She accepts the offer but does NOT want the money paid into her Credit card account. (She has just taken out offer of interest free transfer). She has telephoned Nat West and they say it is their 'policy' to credit existing accounts. Can she ask for payment to be made to an account of her choice or maybe send her a cheque?
Sorry if you have had this question posed before, but I have searched and cannot find thread to this.
    Anyone?

They should credit the redress to the card and then send a cheque out for this amount.

    Evening all,
I posted this the other day and its got lost so re-posting for some advice please.
    Thanks again.

Was this a final response?, if it was not , then write back to Egg and reject the reasons they did not uphold, tell them that just having literature posted out is not confirmation that you fully knew what the PPI cost and exclusions were, reiterate the reasons you have for mis sell, if you could pay this card each month should the worst happen then put how you could have paid this, let them know that you did not have a need for this PPI.
If it was a final response, then send this to FOS, put a copy of the rejection in and put what I said above.

    • How much did you get back: A little over £7800 TODAY
    • Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: Using the template letter on this site
    • And then write your brief reclaim tale
I used the template letter on this site and after one letter and approx 4 months wait I was offered a "No obligation gesture of goodwill offer" in other words the bank didnt want to recieve an additionaal fee of a fine from the FOS for misselling this product so they refunded all my PPI payments including the interest to date. So happy and sharing my experience with everyone telling them to do it and NOT to use a company for assistance in reclaiming.

Thanks to Amersall and Di3004 for their advice a few weeks ago.

Payment was made within 28 days of my accepting the offer.
    You are welcome :D:D

Is it just me or does anyone else find that waiting for payment or waiting to hear about ongoing claims is torture??!!
Please tell me I'm not the only person logging onto online banking about 5 times a day hoping to find a little 'windfall'!
    Success so far:

Bank charges refund plus interest: over £6000 :j
Mortgage PPI refund plus interest: over £9000 :j

Thanks - glad it's not just me. Was beginning to worry that the money coming back to me would need to be spent on a straitjacket! :)

Wow! Can't quite believe it - spoke to LTSB earlier and they are offering me £13,200 to settle my credit card PPI complaint! I am gobsmacked! That will wipe out my outstanding balance.

It brings the total to just over £23,000 and I still have complaints on another loan and overdraft PPI outstanding.

I am so happy and thank you so very, very much to every one who offered advice :T. Best of luck to everyone else awaiting decisions.
