  • After looking at MSE for ages and thinking about claiming, I decided to dig out some paperwork. I cancellled a ppi back in 2004 after paying £20 per month for about 8 years. Within 6 weeks, Halifax wrote to me with an offer of £3500!! Refunded all my premiums (£1800) and 8% interest (£1700). THankyou Martin Lewis and MSE. Anyone thinking about claiming, stop thinking and just do it, I can't believe how easy it was. :j:T
  • Hi to you all,
I am a new forum user.
My partner has just had an offer from Nat West. For PPI compensation.
She accepts the offer but does NOT want the money paid into her Credit card account. (She has just taken out offer of interest free transfer). She has telephoned Nat West and they say it is their 'policy' to credit existing accounts. Can she ask for payment to be made to an account of her choice or maybe send her a cheque?
Sorry if you have had this question posed before, but I have searched and cannot find thread to this.
    Anyone?

    Hi all,

I'm currently waiting on a repsonse from Lloyds on 4 loans dating back to 2003. I've just received the loan agreements for them and they show for example the following:-
cash loan - £5300, loan for loan protection insurance £778. Both of these have interest added (11.9%). Is this front loaded claim? I think it might be but not 100% sure. Any help would be much appreciated.

My original points for mis-selling are i didn't need because i had a sickness cover and redundancy from my employer, and also i felt it wasn't explained fully to me and if i actually met the criteria.

    HSBC Loans/Flexiloan - Sent 24/05/2012 Signed For 25/05/2012 Upheld 24/08/2012 £10,900 refund
    HSBC Credit card -

Chartered Trust PLC Loan - Sent 14/05/2012 Signed For 15/05/2012 Rejected, rebuttal sent.
  • I have put a claim in for a still active loan on the 7th March 2012. As yet they have not made a decission either way, so be prepared for a long wait :)

My experience seems similar to yours, I too sent off a claim in March and received an acknowledgement letter on 04/04/12. They then sent me another letter on 09/05/12 saying that they were waiting for internal departments to provide more information so it would possibly take longer. I gave them a call and asked them to chase and they said they would, but I didn't hear anything so rang them again on 18/05/12 and spoke to another person. They said that they were still waiting for internal departments to provide original copies of the agreement (although I had already sent copies in my complaint letter). I said that I could provide these copies and he gave an address to send them too. He also requested internal copies whilst I was on the phone and told me to give a couple of weeks. From my agreements I can see from this site that the ppi was front loaded on both so I'm hoping I will hear something soon.............Good luck to everyone:):)

    • What were you reclaiming: PPI on a loan
    • Who was the provider: NatWest Bank (RBS)
    • How much did you get back: A little over £7800 TODAY
    • Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: Using the template letter on this site
    • And then write your brief reclaim tale
I used the template letter on this site and after one letter and approx 4 months wait I was offered a "No obligation gesture of goodwill offer" in other words the bank didnt want to recieve an additionaal fee of a fine from the FOS for misselling this product so they refunded all my PPI payments including the interest to date. So happy and sharing my experience with everyone telling them to do it and NOT to use a company for assistance in reclaiming.

Thanks to Amersall and Di3004 for their advice a few weeks ago.

Payment was made within 28 days of my accepting the offer.

    Hi,
Looking for some advice if poss please. O/H made a complaint with Egg credit card re: ppi stating that it had been mis sold to him, he wasnt given the correct info, it wasn't sold in his bext interests and wasnt explained to him. When the policy was taken out, he was clearly in a position that his employment was able to cover repayments - 6 months full pay and 6 months half pay sickness policy so no need for the ppi policy in the first place.
He couldnt remember though how he had obtained the credit card.
We have had a reply this morning rejecting his claim.
Egg say he purchased the ppi through their website in 2002. Consequently their reasons to reject are:
    1) the online process doesnt require ppi to be taken out to get the credit card
    2) the online process required him to positivly confirm that he wished to purchase the policy
    3) the full terms and conditions were provided and there was a request that he read them before submitting his credit card app.

Has he got any chance of trying with the FOS ?
Any help and feedback will be very welcome.
    Thanks for reading.

    Wish me luck.

I started my invesitgation into PPI on this site back in March. Have had one outcome with my bank account with Barclays who have refused to pay anything towards bank charges, which I have let go due to the amount of PPI and credit card claims I have now going. So this is my current status.

    1. Egg Loan - PPI claim
    2. Barclays Overdraft - PPI claim
    3. Tesco Credit Card - PPI claim and charge claim
    4. Mint Credit Card - charge Claim
    5. SAR to Barclays - returned my cheque and a list of all account I have had with them including Egg and Barclay card. Have now put PPI claim in for an additional 12 accounts some of which I don't know if I had PPI but they have advised me to claim for these also.
    6. SAR request to RBS - waiting response
    7. SAR request to MBNA - waiting response
    8. SAR request for Capital - waiting response.

Being a patient lady is definately a requirement for me however I am expecting some results by the end of June so watch this space.

    PB.

    Good luck

    PPI successs update:money:

Received a letter from Barclays stating that they have upheld our complaints for various loans that we have had over the last nine years.

I received £806 and my husband just over £11.600 :j:j:j
I also received a rejection letter from Barclaycard, but they have reopened my case because I told them they did not address the reason why I thought I was mis sold PPI.
I was made redundant and they did not pay out:eek:

To date my husband and I have claimed back just over £17,700 and to think I was not going to bother.

I will keep you all posted with the outcome of Barclaycard and Stantander card. Thanks again to all on this site and good luck to all still waiting:T

TO ALL THAT HAVE NOT CLAIMED YET DO NOT USE A CLAIMS COMPANY.

Hi i purchased a car from carcraft in newport in 2003 and just found the paperwork and it has ppi on it. The paper work has black horse ltd on the top is this part of the lloyds group and does any body know the address i can send my claim to thanks

You send it to Carcraft, they sold you the loan and PPI, enclose a copy of the agreement and see what they come back with, it is possible they will not uphold due to the year as they will say they were not regulated, Send it anyway and see what they come back with.
Did you pay one payment each month to this loan and PPI and not a separate payment for the PPI? if you did, this is Single Premium PPI and this is the reason for mis sell that you use, this was a loan on the loan paid to term end with interest, if you cancelled the PPI they would have given you a pro rata rebate of the PPI and the remaining PPI is still on the loan to term end.
If you settled this loan early then, as above you, would have a pro rata rebate and you would have paid back the remaining PPI in with the settlement figure.
