  • I just want to say a massive thank you to this website. I followed the step by step guide on how to reclaim PPI on a consolidated chain of loans from RBS. Last wednesday they sent me six separate offers for each loan totalling approx £13,000!!!!

Although I now await the payment.

Unbelievable to think thats how much I had paid in PPI over a period of years.

    Lloyds Tsb

Got fed up being messed about by Lloyds , saying that my mortgage paperwork that I have sent twice, recorded delivery, signed by them, has not arrived. Sent an email to the CEO and now things are starting to get resolved. Got an email back saying that they are looking into it and for my trouble and stress that they will pay £75 into my account in the next 5 working days. I emailed on Friday, last week and so far I've had 2 emails back, a phonecall on Friday afternoon( wasn't at home) and a letter yesterday. Hopefully now my complaint will get looked at properly as it was not upheld after the 8 weeks. All I had sent was one letter saying I wanted to complain, they didn't ask any questions or send me out the questionnaire, and I got a letter back saying it was not upheld as it was optional, but I have since found my paperwork from 1997 saying it was a condition of the mortgage and I must take Tsb mortgagesure. At the time they were allowed to give you a condition with the mortgage but they were not allowed to say it had to be theirs. So fingers crossed now that my complaint will get upheld.

3rd person I spoke to, we don't have records going back to the 90's and wrote to you on 3 May (Wednesday after sending agreement on Saturday which I had not received) saying "they could not locate a policy in your name", and, " I am unable to review your complaint unless you provide me with specific evidence the a PPI policy was held in your name"

I explained the copy of the agreement I sent to them showed the PPI in clear terms and the amount, asked for a copy of the letter and told the lady if I posted the agreement on the Saturday and they reply on the Wednesday there cannot have been much of an investigation, received the letter today and confirmed the reasons above.
They need proof that you actually paid this PPI, the agreement only shows that you had PPI, not that you actually paid this, you could have cancelled this PPI or settled the loan early, they need to know what you paid on the PPI.
Do you have any bank statements showing this loan payment?, find out who the Insurer was and they may have proof that you paid this policy, they may not due to the year, but there is no harm in asking.

I WANT TO DO THIS MYSELF but struggling.I have done the SAR thing and they say not enough info i have given them everything they have asked and now they say they cant find paper work from the loan and PPI so cant do anything further UNLESS I HAVE THE PAPER WORK buts its been 10 years.............help ?

They will have trouble finding any of this info if the loan was settled 10 years ago.

    Hi Amersall

I've found bank statements going back to 1999 where it looks like i paid it off, these show the payment but the statements do not identify who it is paid to, I also have a copy of the certificate of insurance which lists 2 separate insurers depending on the claim

do you think this is worth persuing with the additional information I now have?

Send copies of the insurance docs and the statements showing the payment, these should correspond with the payment amount on the agreement, see what they come back with.
  • Wish me luck.

I started my invesitgation into PPI on this site back in March. Have had one outcome with my bank account with Barclays who have refused to pay anything towards bank charges, which I have let go due to the amount of PPI and credit card claims I have now going. So this is my current status.

    1. Egg Loan - PPI claim
    2. Barclays Overdraft - PPI claim
    3. Tesco Credit Card - PPI claim and charge claim
    4. Mint Credit Card - charge Claim
    5. SAR to Barclays - returned my cheque and a list of all account I have had with them including Egg and Barclay card. Have now put PPI claim in for an additional 12 accounts some of which I don't know if I had PPI but they have advised me to claim for these also.
    6. SAR request to RBS - waiting response
    7. SAR request to MBNA - waiting response
    8. SAR request for Capital - waiting response.

Being a patient lady is definately a requirement for me however I am expecting some results by the end of June so watch this space.

    PB.
