PPI Reclaiming successes and failures

Hi,
I've recently had a part success and could do with some advice on the following;
I had a loan with Egg for £20000 over 5 years and payed just over £4000 in PPI. I recently followed step 1 and got a letter back saying they were refunding me my PPI premium and interest totalling just over £500. They now consider the case closed and suggest if i'm unhappy to contact the Ombudsman.
How does this work, how do they get a figure of £500 and not £4000?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Do i now have to take it to the Ombudsman or do you think i can go back to Egg?
Surely the fact that they have admitted their guilt and payed me something means they have to pay it all back, or not?

Hi,
In January i applied for full PPI back from Natwest/RBS that i beleived had been mis-sold to me on my credit card. I have had my credit card for over 6 years and at its highest the balance was over £3000.
After 8 weeks they have sent me a letter stating that through goodwill they will refund me £550.35. I am pleased that i have been offered this however i am unsure as to whether this is what i am really owed? Could someone advise me before i accept.
Thanks Phill0 -

I'm claiming miss sell. Would this affect the outcome? What i forgot to mention also is that i have another small loan with them for £1000 which i am not paying PPI on. They have simply knocked this total down to £500 and reduced my mimimum payment0

Hi Phil
Yes its good to have been offered this but if a lot more is involved in this, its worth finding out.
You could request for a calculation breakdown of this, this way you should know how this was worked out.;)
Good luck.

I will be getting a refund of £93.39 for PPI on my Capital One Credit Card, have sent off the acceptance letter.
All in all it took 2 letters and about 6 weeks so not bad really.
Unfortunately, Capital One are not being as co-operative regards my charges with them, so that's now gone off to FOS to deal with.
I'm happy tho, as it's my first victory0 -

I was reclaiming ppi.
Sold by egg.
All.
I got back after second letter.
I was miss sold ppi by egg due to the fact i was selfemployed and ppi wasn't needed. I sent the first letter to egg and they replied very quickly saying they would look into case. then nothing happened after 8 weeks and i sent the next letter. Hadn't heard from them until yesterday when i checked my account and found it had a zero balance. When i rang them they told me it has all been paid of and a check in the post for the remainder owed.
Very pleased with result and a very big thankyou to martin lewis and team for helping with template letters and advice.
