The story so far,I rang the 0800 No above too cancel the PPI and as suspected I was put through to their "dirty tricks"department.
After some more high pressure selling techniques from the woman at the other end explaining to me that if I didn't have this insurance I would be battered with fire and brimstone or words to that effect,I held fast and got it taken off.
Now here comes the good bit.
I thought it would be just a case of the payment for the premium being removed and just carrying on as before BUT oh no.
She said that it wasn't as simple as that and said I'd have set up a new loan agreement with out PPI added which we did on the phone but I haven't signed any papers yet until I get some advise from here.
A settlement figure was worked out obviously adding any outstanding interest.
The new monthly repayment figure is £33.35 more than it was if I were to stay with the original agreement(which they say I can't do).
The original agreement was £274.77+£120.77 for the PPI premium and the new figure is(if I wish to take it)£308.12 without the PPI agreement!
I have a strong hunch that their trying to rip me off again and I think this is wrong.
I haven't got a problem with paying them what I owe them BUT they shafted me into the PPI in the first instance and I can't see why I shouldn't be paying them the original amount minus the PPI premium.
    Please advise.

    Mr Pixie v's RBS

8 weeks ago we used template letter to complain to RBS about mis-selling of PPI on a loan taken out in 2004. The adviser told Mr Pixie that payments if he took PPI would be 134 per month but if he refused PPI then they would be 'significantly higher' as they needed to price in the risk of him losing job. They also said because payments would then me guarenteed to them over the period of the loan acceptance would be no problem.

He has received 2 letters, one shortly after sending the complaint acknowledging its receipt and giving him a referance number and a second around about 4 weeks ago advising him they were still investigating.

The 8 week deadline expired 12th March 09, so on Friday 13th 09 he called them to remind them that time was up.

Today he received a letter apologising for the delay in fully responding and offering him a full refund of £1611.34. This is the amount of PPI paid plus interest paid plus £50. He has decided to accept this offer.

I am a very very happy pixie today. :D

Thanks to Di, turboman et al who have assisted me in this claim and in others currently with the FSA.

hi there i am having this problem with northern rock, i have put it to the fos as they want to increase my loan term as well as the monthly payment, they should put you back in the position you were in before you took the ppi, please write to fos and dont let this drop, i think this is their way of getting extra cash back off us for them losing out on the ppi payment they gave us, good luck with this

    Hi there,

I've very nearly had success with Alliance & Leicester.

Had a loan with them and was mis-sold the PPI. Having received a letter from them stating this, I sent them a letter back from the ones provided on this site and 2 weeks ago had an offer from A&L of which I'm now just awaiting my cheque........

Thanks Martin and all on this site who have helped!

Hi can anyone give me some advice. I took out a loan in 2003 and restructured the loan in 2005. My payments were £40.00 ppi a month for 5 years. I have received a letter form Nat West today and they have said that they are not going to upheld my complaint but have offered me £750.00 good will offer for each policy total £1500.00. I still feel unhappy as i really wanted all the money back that i paid. Would you advice me to carry on and go to the financial Ombudsman and how do i go about this ?

Natwest and RBS are one and the same. If you complain to the FO you will get it all back hold out. I spoke to the PPI complaints team in Manchester who have been set up to settle ppi complaints. The FO are sending cases in bulk in date order to the team and are settling them as if they won through the FO so you get back the ppi, the interest and the statutory. I can only presume it is to avoid a fine from the FSA. Get the complint to the FO if you arent desperate for immediate cash as you will end up getting the lot back like me
MY Successes = RBS PPI, RBS bank charges, Aqua PPI, Aqua cc charges, HFC PPI, Welcome Finance PPI, Blackhorse PPI Mums Ongoing= Swift Advances PPI, London Scottish PPI, Blackhorse chgs, GE money pyts missing
