  • Hi,

Has anyone had any success reclaiming from an Argos store card . I am guessing they will probably make me wait right up until the 8th week to let me know the outcome

    Thanks
Happy to be sorting out my debts.

    Hello,

I recentally won a claim against Egg banking for £6350.00

Today I get an invoice from the company that was dealing with the claim for me for £2289.00!

This was made up of 30% fee - £1908 but also 20% VAT @ £381!

    Leaving me with £4061.00

So in one breath this is a success!

Now my gripe is that I ended up doing the majority of the work as Egg contacted me directly with all the forms which I filled out and sent back to Egg. When I phoned Charterhouse to ask them what to do with these forms they told me I also needed to scan, print and send duplicates to them!

Later I got more of the SAME forms above from charterhouse asking me to fill them out and send back to them and NOT Egg.

I phoned them up and told them I had already been sent the forms direct from Egg and had already sent them back including duplicates to them which they has asked me to do on a prevoius phone call. I also had several "nasty" letters from them asking me for these forms of which I had to phone them two or three times stating that I had already sent them back and had discussed this with them several times in the past.

End of the day I do have £4000ish back, but I feel that I done ALL the work, seeing as I had to fill out all the forms and send all the forms back to Egg AND Charterhouse!!

Can someone please advise me what I should do? Are they entitled to this £2000+ or should I dispute it and only pay them a % of the fee?

    Regards

    Paul.

You signed a contract with these so you have to pay the fee.
Having said that, they have only done what all the claims companies do and that I am afraid is jack :D
As you now know the customer does all the work and they sit back and take a fee.

If I were you, write to Charterhouse and ask them to give you a breakdown of what they actually did for this claim to get you this redress as you think the fee is is not appropriate as you did all the work and ask to negotiate a smaller fee, this may not work but it is worth a try.

:j Well done on the win by the way
  • Hi everyone, Please can anyone tell me how long Santander is taking to reply to a PPI claim? They took over Alliance & Leicester with whom I had the original loans, so I wrote to Santander......

Santander wrote to me and I replied on the 5th March, I had cleared funds in my account last thursday. They replied to me on 27th March to say they were upholding my claim.
  • Hi,

almost 10 years ago I had 3 separate loans with Royal Bank Of Scotland, totalling around £13,000. Everything was handled over the phone at the time, and, to be honest, I don't remember any RBS call centre person asking about PPI.

After seeing all the adverts on TV about mis sold PPI claims, I came straight to moneysavingexpert for advice. I had no paperwork at all, so decided not to use Martin's template letter. I simply got my credit report from Experian, as advised by you guys, wrote these details into a letter, and sent it to RBS.

2 weeks later I received a letter saying they were looking into it, then a couple of weeks after that another saying I will receive a cheque in 28 days! How much will the cheque be for??.....

    £5,352.18:D

It all cost me £2 plus a stamp. Thank you Moneysavingexpert!!!!!

Can anyone help with this ????

They said the same to me. At least they are being consistent. Fingers crossed we both get something soon. I had a letter today of them appologising for the time it was taking but saying they had many other complaints to go through before mine :(

Hi chaps, can any of the lovely helpers on here advise me further? Had rejection from RBS for an old MINT c/card due to 'policy was was provided on a non-advised basis......had policy document explaining if it would be suitable....if not, had 30 days to cancel yadda yadda yadda'......apparently we appllied from a mailshot of theirs, we have a copy of the agreement & I even sent them back a copy with my initial letter as it states on the PPI box 'WE STRONGLY RECOMMEND YOU TAKE OUT THIS COVER'........but apparently that wasn't specifically aimed at my husband!! It's a 'generic suggestion to ALL customers to consider how they would make repayments if unemployed etc etc'...They enclosed a couple of statements & it shows PPI of £62 on one of them, and as it goes back to 1997, I don't want to just roll over on this one!! Any suggestions on how to respond (although begrudgingly only polite ones!) gratefully received. Ta muchly

Bumping this for some advice, please
Keep Smiling :D - It makes people wonder what you're up to!!!

That's just the form letter. You'll hear in the eighth week!
  • As joint executor to my late brothers estate {2007} I wonder if he is posthumously entitled to repayments on either PPI's and bank charges etc.. if so how do I go about it?
