    SUCCESS!!!:j:j:j
    • What were you reclaiming: Loan
    • Who was the provider: Barclays
    • How much did you get back: £6701.76
    • Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: Letter from Barclays
    • And then write your brief reclaim tale:
In 2001 I took out a loan for a car and was told due to my employment that I would have to take out PPI on top of the loan if it is to be approved. I read last year on MSE that I could be a victim of mis-selling. On 26 Feb 2012 I downloaded the PPI Complaint Form on MSE and sent it off to Barclays. Within 7 days I received a reply saying they were looking into a complaint. On 04 April 2012, £6701.76 was automatically deposited into my bank account followed by a letter saying my complaint had been upheld. I couldn't believe how much I got back. Barclays gave a full breakdown of the refund including dates, interest etc.

    Give Martin Lewis a Knighthood!

This couldn't have come at a better time as I'm just about to move into a new home.

Thanks to all fourm members on MSE for all the advice throughout!!!

    One down, three to go!

BarclayCard have stopped my PPI payments and have written to me saying they are looking into my complaint. 8 weeks have past and they have written another letter apologising and saying they were get a response as soon as possible, they currently have a large backlog and that I was entitled to complain to the FOS due to the delay. Its looking positive.

I haven't sent my Egg Loan and Card complaint in yet but now I know how the process works they will be getting a letter in the post very soon.

    Hi tyler,

    :j:jCongratulations, well done:beer:
What reasons did you use for mis-sell, if you don't mind me asking. I have a complaint with Blackhorse ongoing at the moment.

my reasons were that basically we were told we would be accepted more easily and would get a lower apr also that i received pay when i was off sick they never asked me that when i took out the loan

i had two loans with them i tryed to cancel the ppi on one of them i actually had a copy of the letter i sent them . i stated this in my claim telling them that i had tryed to cancel and was told i couldnt
i also added at the end that these loans were front laoded with the ppi and that they had charged me a lot of money and i would like it back please
    that was it bascically
im am a tad worried about the amount they are offering us as it seems a lot so im excited but a bit worried too incase we dont get the amount they offered i cant see how we wouldnt though
i will be settled when the cheque is in my bank
  • Thanks to martin i downloaded all the forms for a miss-selling claim againsgt Lloyds tsb on behalf of my Mam. Today she got a letter offering her nearly £5600!!
Still got a claim in for her credit card ppi claim.

Thanks again Martin you're a star

As joint executor to my late brothers estate {2007} I wonder if he is posthumously entitled to repayments on either PPI's and bank charges etc.. if so how do I go about it?
    many thanks
    slightspirit

Hi there and I am sorry for your loss x.
The executor can make a PPI reclaim you will have to send a copy of the probate form and the death certificate and there should be no problem.
Ring the banks concerned and they will guide you with this.

Hi chaps, can any of the lovely helpers on here advise me further? Had rejection from RBS for an old MINT c/card due to 'policy was was provided on a non-advised basis......had policy document explaining if it would be suitable....if not, had 30 days to cancel yadda yadda yadda'......apparently we appllied from a mailshot of theirs, we have a copy of the agreement & I even sent them back a copy with my initial letter as it states on the PPI box 'WE STRONGLY RECOMMEND YOU TAKE OUT THIS COVER'........but apparently that wasn't specifically aimed at my husband!! It's a 'generic suggestion to ALL customers to consider how they would make repayments if unemployed etc etc'...They enclosed a couple of statements & it shows PPI of £62 on one of them, and as it goes back to 1997, I don't want to just roll over on this one!! Any suggestions on how to respond (although begrudgingly only polite ones!) gratefully received. Ta muchly
What were the original reasons that you used for the mis sell? did you have decent sick pay from your employer, life insurance and any other cover that you may have been paying at the time you took this card out should the worst happen?.
If you did then I would reject the decision on these counts, why would you then take PPI in addition to what you already had and pay for extra cover, this does not make sense.

Just to let you know, if you win redress they will only repay for the last 6 years unless you have statements going back further than this.
  • Hello all,
This is my first post although i have been a reader of MSE for years for various reasons mainly for my mums ill health, unfortunately she passed away last April. Mum did not leave a will so her estate is being processed by a firm, we inquired about claiming ppi as she was in the process of doing so herself but the admin replied saying its a litigation matter that we should consult a solicitor even though they will recieve 2% of Mums estate. If we do not have grant of probate but a firm does and have said they will sign any forms required, what do you think our next step should be? Thanks for any advice in advance.

Hi there and I am sorry for your loss x.
Firstly the firm will not do the claims for the PPI for the 2% they charge for dealing with the estate, a fee upwards of 25% plus Vat is potentially earned for a PPI reclaim.

If the firm will sign any forms required then contact the banks regarding the PPI, explain what is happening and that the firm will sign papers for someone to make the claim, if this happens then you could do the reclaiming, you will get all the help you need on here for free, if you get a solicitor to do this there will be a hefty % to pay if redress is won and the fee comes out of your mothers estate, reclaiming is easy and you do not need anyone to make the claim for you.

When you get the go ahead to make the claims then post on here and we will help you all the way with this.

    Hi tyler,

    Thanks for your reply,
these are the same reasons I complained.

Well done for getting your money back. Don't worry you will get all what is owed to you. I can imagine you are over the moon:j:j

Lets hope they don't keep you waiting too long for your cheque:D
