MBNA have finally got back to me after I queried their initial rejection saying that they stand by their decision saying that yes PPI was applied to my account at my request ?? and by ticking a box it would have been made clear to me that I understood what it was all about. But I never did understand what it was all about and I certainly didnt request it and wouldnt have ticked a box to voluntarily pay more money anyway.

So, they say I must refer to the Finanacial Ombudsman Service which may well be a waste of time but I am going to try anyway. My question is - is there another form / procedure to do this or do I just write to them?

ETA : sorry meant to post under discussion topic not success / failures - not sure how to move

thanks.

Lam - You will need to send a copy of your completed FOS Template and ALL correspondance between MBNA and yourself to the FOS.

Thanks Ronnie - will send off today.
• I had a loan with NatWest.
I did not have details on the loan so I wrote them a letter using the template letter from this site requesting for the loan agreement. I had sent this off 5-Jan-12. I got a reply on 16-Jan-12 informing me that they did not have a record of the agreement but did give me info on how much my loan I had left to pay off (£10,865) and how much PPI I had paid to date (£6,677).
I then completed the PPI Consumer Questionnaire and sent that on 23-Jan-12. A response was received 30-Jan-12 letting me know that they were going to investigate my complaint.
13-Feb-12, I received 3 further letters with 3 other different reference numbers informing me that they were investigating the complaint.
Then on 19-Mar-12, I received 4 letters offering me payments back with 4 different sums!
I was a bit confused with this as I thought I only had 1 loan. I then recalled that I had an initial loan to which was paid off with another loan as I had gotten a better rate. I assume that my credit cards had also been included into that loan, hence the 4 offers.
I accepted all 4 offers and was paid back £24,259.54 on 13-Apr-12.
I have since paid off the loan and now 100% debt free!!
Thank you to MoneySavingExpert for the guidence and everyone whom has posted their stories!

Just got off the phone to egg, as I wanted to get an update on my claim.

They had just finalised my claim, and have settled in my favour!

I have a cheque for £5,500 coming my way in the next few days!
Really pleased with that result.

Need to get myself into gear, and sort out the Natwest one now!

Got a letter today from AMEX to say that while they do not accept any responsibility for me having PPI i didnt want or really know about they are willing to pay back ALL the payments i made PLUS interest as a "good will gesture" Total Reclaim: 1000 pounds. Thank you MSE!!

I also had a card with MBNA but cannot remember any of the numbers or details for it so i'm a little unsure as to where to go from there. I also defaulted on the account but paid back every penny eventually without ever claiming. Old online bank statements just say MBNA but not any acc numbers. I was toying with the idea of just filling in what details i could remember and see what happens??

Hi I am about to start the process with amex ,,, can I poss see the reply they sent you pls? feel free to pm me. Many thanks

• Sent off many letters to various banks/credit card companies asking if they could check ppi on our old loans/cards!
Received reply off Barclays with 6 questionnaires to fill in! As all these loans and cards have been paid off we no longer have any paperwork so filled in what we could and sent off! That was about 5 weeks ago! Is this too long to have waited for just a reply! My partner is in the navy and as these are his loans they will not discuss it with me!

MBNA replied stating they were looking into our complaint and then another letter apologising for the delay and they will issue a response by 26th April!

Egg ( barclaycard) have sent a questionnaire which I've filled in today and set off!

Norther rock(nram)-A loan I'd completely forgot on about, have sent out a letter to me as my previous address informing me of Ppi I had on a loan! I hadnt even sent them a letter! I've replied stating I wish to make a complaint as I knew nothing of the Ppi!

Received a Letter off Barclays yesterday stating no ppi policy on one of the claims ( 1 of 6)
Partner checked his bank today and was suprised to find 5 deposits off Barclays all amounting to £1,800! I gather the letters are in the post explaining! Not bad for filling out 6 questionnaires with no paperwork or details to be had! X

Mbna have replied to say no ppi on account but I'm sure they have looked into a different account as had 2 CC with them, one I reached my limit of £2.500 with and was paying £50 month back, £49 of which was going on interest and charges! Couple years later they sent me new card with lower limit and it was never used! The letter back is showing up this second card details! Can I still asked them to look into the other card, only have the 4 last digits for this account but it's still on my online account with them! X

I took out a goldfish credit card when I was 26

So a maximum of 10 years employment
I lived at home with my parents
and would be happy to be a burden on them if you fell ill or lost your job?
also had sick benefits from my work
How much?
How do you know it would be enough to live on?
as well as stat redundancy
2012/13 rates are based on a maximum £430 per week.

If you were 26 now and joined at 16, that would amount to a payment of 0.5 weeks per year to age 22 then 1 week per year

so 7 weeks' pay at £430 per week

£430 × 7 = £3,010

That would not go very far with all your other expenditure.

This is not to suggest your complaint might not have merit, simply that this argument falls down.
