  • Hi, can anyone out there help. On my bank statements I have a D/D set up for Membership Finance. Have contacted the bank but they no longer hold the address for them as the loan closed 2004. Have tried FOS and they have no complaints going with that company. Any ideas who I contact or has someone else had a loan with them. Thanks
  • I knew i'd had a couple of loans in the past that had PPI but wasn't really sure if they had been "mis sold" or not so wasn't going to bother trying to claim anything back.
Then i watched Martins how to claim guide and the message seemed to be "have a go, what have you got to lose except the cost of a stamp" so i did.
I dug out my paperwork from a santander loan that finished a couple of years ago, worked out the PPI, sent back the claim form that i downloaded off here and waited for the rejection letter.
6 weeks later i received a reply. My original claim of £2526.60 has been refunded in full, plus £934.85 interest. Not only that but they also refunded the PPI from a different loan that i didn't even claim for as it finished 7 years ago, £1628.44 plus £1177.91 interest.
    A grand total of £6267.80 !!
Not bad for half an hours work that i wasn't even going to bother doing.
Don't use one of these companies that charge anything up to 30% to do it for you either, do it yourself, it's really simple.
Thanks Martin, because i definitely wouldn't have bothered were it not for moneysavingexpert.com.

I've just been on the phone to HFC regarding several loans that me and the wife had starting with the Beneficial nearly 20 years ago and
getting bigger and bigger ones each one paying the previous one off
until we finally paid the HFC off about 7 years ago about 25,000--we
had no paperwork or acc. numbers but thought I would try anyway
and yes we did have ppi so I asked them how far they looked back
and they said indefinitley so our claim is going in--I was just wondering has anyone had a success with HFC and what were the grounds and how long did it take.
    Thanks

    Hi Phil

I have no paperwork for my HFC loan account closed 9 years ago. I am waiting for HFC to response to my SAR non-compliance letter, they say they only keep records for 6 years after the account is closed, yet there are cases of people receiving paperwork from 1990's.

    Good luck with yours.
  • so following my success with MBNA credit cards i now have ongoing claims with Barclaycard x 3, Citi x 2, Natwest x 4 and NRAM x1
However i caanot find who took over World Vision Credit Card, on my last statement dated March 2003 it was by Bank of Scotland who dont have the account number in archives (they were quite helpful) which tells me that someone else took over this credit card. Anyone know the answer?

    Thanks

Just want to re-iterate, chase up any loan you think you had. It is worth the phone call. I chased up blackhorse on a loan I had 8 years ago. Low and behold, frontloaded with PPI, I was in the forces at the time. I phoned them up last week to lodge a complaint and received a letter today saying complaint upheld! quick service! just waiting on the cheque for £1300 now. Still waiting for 3 seperate lloyds loan complaints, fingers crossed they go the same way :j

  • This forum has helped me many times so I wanted to help back and encourage everyone to go for PPI claiming. Used the forms on this website in Feb to re-claim for my partner against Barclaycard and HSBC. Barclaycard is for credit card insurance and so far have had two letters to say they are not yet in a position to give a final response. HSBC is for loan insurance. They took three loans into consideration and have just written to say they are paying off the existing loan (balance of £1685 due to finish in Aug 12) and refunding £15,569! I only sent the form in with a covering letter ... anybody can do that ... please do.
  • i had a letter from barclays today detailing they have upheld my claim for my ppi on a loan however they are only paying 8% interest on it when the apr on the loan was 22%. has anyone had this and do they know if it is worth querying this?
    thanks

    Good afternoon,

I am hoping for some advice from you all regarding my Credit Card PPI claim (I have already posted on here briefly about my case).

After other successful PPI claims I decided to pursue a claim on my Credit Card I currently hold. My bank came back to me after a few days saying that my claim was upheld by them yet as there was no proof of the policy and how much was paid as it was over 6 years ago an offer could not be made. After being advised both by the bank and from feedback on here I sent a SAR request off to obtain any details prior to the 6 year cut off period.

Yesterday I spoke to the people responsible for the SAR request and they informed me that they could find nothing beyond the 6 years. They, along with somebody on here advised that I should go back to my bank and ask if they would consider a goodwill offer to mark the case as resolved, my argument being that they have admitted I was mis-sold the policy therefore I should be due some redress from them. So I spoke with my bank today and the person I spoke to has asked their senior manager to consider a goodwill offer but they are not willing to offer me anything.

It is my understanding that if I refer this to the financial ombudsman that the bank will incur a charge for a case being opened (of which I informed the person on the phone). I asked them if after taking this into consideration would it not be prudent to offer me a nominal amount. I put it to them that it may very well be an offer more than what I am owed or less than what I am owed, we would never know. However, it would be an offer to close the case, a case in which the bank have admitted they are wrong. The bank said to me that they thought the ombudsman would side with them if the proof isn’t there, but I have been advised that as the bank have admitted liability and have upheld my case then I should be paid something.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Has been a while since I have posted in here, so just wanted to add my success so far, I went through normal process with nationwide, HSBC, MBNA & Capital one.

Nationwide admitted fault straight away and gave back £845.50, MBNA there was no PPI, Capital One denied mis-selling and currently with the Ombudsmen, possibly my best claim though was HSBC. It started off slightly differently to most as I wrote to them asking for info and they said "We dont have the information but we assume this is about PPI" and explained how much PPI I had on previous accounts. I sent a letter back saying this was correct, they responded asking me to fill in the generic ombudsmen questionairre. Due to personal tragedy, a holiday and other things this never got filled in and has been sat on my desk for at least four weeks. However on Friday 13th they sent me a letter saying they would be refunding me £928.02. Bonus! So without even filling in the stuff they needed they are sending me a refund.
Lovely jubbly! Keep at it people!
