After advice from this forum (thanks beamerguy), I emailed Bob Diamond as I wasn't getting any joy from their PPI Dept. I received an email last Thursday from Dinesh Hundalani Customer Relations Manager, Barclays Specialist Complaints - Head Office stating
"I write further to your email of 17 January addressed to our Chief Executive Officer, Bob Diamond. I have been asked to reply on Mr Diamond’s behalf.

I’m sorry that you’ve had cause to complain. I have forwarded your concerns to the relevant department, who will be in contact with you directly. In the meantime, please feel free to contact me for an update."
Then on Saturday, I received letter offering me £3,774 as a full refund for my OD protection and the money was in my account.:T

Also on Saturday, my OH had his complaint upheld for PPI on his Natwest Blackcard and a goodwill offer of £7900!:j

That is my PPI journey(August 2011-Jan 2012) finished now.
    Barclayloans £8,300 paid
    BOS loan £9,341 paid
    Barclays OD protection £3,774 paid

    OH's PPI journey continues......
    so far he has
    MBNA £4,159 paid
Natwest Black card £7,900 waiting for payment
Halifax Mastercard & Visa card, Lloyds TSB Card and a Black Horse loan to go!
Keep up the good work Martin and everyone else on this wonderful site.:T:T

that is fab news could you possibly forward me the email adress because i feel i am banging my head against a brick wall with barclays! I spoke to the ppi department again today and the man i spoke to was speaking to me like i was an idiot!!!
    thankyou
  • What were you reclaiming: Loan
    Who was the provider: Lloyds
How much did you get back: 15,980
Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: I phoned and they wrote back telling me they would get in touch with me.

Received letter from Lloyds on 13th April (dated 4th April) which said they will deposit the money in to my account.

I checked the account and they had deposited it. I didn't even get a chance to say yes or no! :)

Still, I'm clearing debts. Next target will be the Lloyds Credit cards I've had in the past!

I have been waiting almost 2 weeks to receive my 3 page rejection letter from Barclay was Egg so that I can further my complaint through the FOS.
How much longer should I wait as I have only been advised verbally that it has been rejected. Has anyone successfully claimed from Barclays was Egg?

I just wanted to encourage other people to use the easy to fill in and downloadable application form from MSE and send it off to claim your own PPI back asap.
I did this to claim back for loans taken out in the past with First Direct.
It was many years ago and I have since moved and no longer have any paperwork related to these loans. But was sure that the bank would still have all my records.
Happily today I got a letter back from customer services with an offer or £6,000!.
I had my doubts and scared about making an application as it was so long ago and I have nothing on paper due to moving but I just like to say you have nothing at all to lose by applying so go for it! Why not try today?.
    Thanks Martin you are fantastic!.

i've waited the full eight weeks for barclaycard to reply about claim against a closed credit card account. recieved letter today asking for more time, due to it being an old account,,.is this normal and how much extra time should i allow before i feel they are just trying a delaying tactic??.

plus i have a beneifical loan which in a yearly update i got each year, says "no ppi" on a section of the form.

if the ppi was front loaded onto the loan when i took it out, would they still have to show it on this yearly update of the account.
i havent got the paperwork from when the loan was taken out,so thought this maybe a tactic by them of trying to hide the fact that there was ppi front loaded onto the loan.

The Banks genuinely are being bombarded with PPI complaints at the moment. Now eight weeks have passed you can take your complaint to the Ombudsman, but (bearing in mind that FOS takes up to a year to settle claims) I'd stick with the Bank for the foreseeable future.

They won't know whether you have paperwork, so wouldn't risk opening themselves to a formal complaint to the FSA by falsifying your yearly statement.
If you're still suspicious, you could ask for a Subject Access Request (SAR). It will cost you £10 but may (depending on the age of the loan) throw more light on how it was originally structured.
Generally speaking, though, Banks don't use "tactics" where statements are concerned.
  • I have recently claimed for PPI on various loans and cc.

I completed the forms on here for PPI claim and sent off to Barclaycard, I have heard nothing back from them but just checked online and have seen that I have recieved a refund on my account for £440 labeled as "Refund Late Charge".

I have not claimed for the late charges although i have been charged the £12 fee many many times... :( bad me.

Has this happened to anyone else or do you think this refund is for PPI Claim?

    Many Thanks
