I know this is probably just a bad news type of question but am I right in thinking that any money we get back (royal we) the tax man get some of the 8% interest? Haven't got anything back yet just want to check do I don't end up getting chased by him!!
Cheers
Neets
My offer letter from HSBC points out I could be liable for tax on the interest and I should declare it on my Tax Return, they also provide a link to HMRC.
This in turn got me thinking. It did hurt but when we pay PPI do we pay insurance tax, if so, what happened to the percentage the government leeched?0 -
Good afternoon everyone.
News of a great result, Loans from Nat west, 2002 - 2010
After waiting the Full 8 weeks they have told me of a 16k Return !!!
In contrast Lloyds have just told me they are not upholding my
complaint on my loan, I was self employed and it was front loaded, yet they say after detailed investigation i have been turned down. I have contacted the FOB and they say Lloyds will not even have looked at it they will just have waited 8 weeks then turned me down.
Shocking Tactics.
I am waiting on my credit card from nat west, off course its not front loaded so i guess i have less chance, am i correct in thinking that ??0 -

Just an update for you and anyone else who has gone to the FOS with Lloyds, I have today spoken to FOS and I am getting my refund finally, after speaking to lloyds and FOS as fos were saying they sent there spreadsheet 7th march but lloyds saying they never received it. I asked FOS to send them an email confirming acceptance and I got them to send me a copy of this. So the next day I phoned lloyds saying FOS have sent it and they still said they havent received it but I quoted you have coz I have a copy of the email that was sent to you and asked her to make a note of this on the account. A day later FOS phoned me and said Lloyds have received it and were sending the calculations which I have now received.
Will let you know when I get payment as they said they were paying into my account.
Thanks for the update. I think I will give the FOS a call tomorrow as I haven't yet received a calculation from Lloyds and it's been five weeks since the FOS have allegedly sent them confirmation of my acceptance. The couple of times that I've called Lloyds, there was no movement or info on my claim so I reckon it'd be prudent for me to follow your lead and try and connect the dots for everyone involved.
Cheers again.0 -

So just less than seven weeks all in, good luck, oh and I started my mortgage about 1999 and cancelled the ppi in 2007, but alot of the payments were made of critical illness payment, not sure when i cancelled that and got just ppi good luckget rid of all the pounds by summer !!

I have received a letter from HSBC offering me just over £2k which I am happy with. It took them 7 weeks to make the offer and that time included me sending my original claim, a second letter with the financial ombudsman form and a couple of letters from HSBC.
I detailed my reasons in a separate thread, but I basically said it was inappropriate for my needs and it was front loaded. I thought it would be too old (it went back to 2000), but it would appear not. I still had all the paperwork because I’m a hoarder, which was fortunate. It probably sped up the process as I didn’t have to wait for them to send me this info.
I’m waiting for the money to go into my bank and then I’ll ring the tax office (grudgingly but necessary) to organise paying the tax, and then I’m going to buy a new blingtastic bicycle with what's left :j
Thanks to everyone who contributes to this site and especially Moneyineptitude and amersall who answered my queries on my thread.0 -

Yes I would if I were you, If FOS are saying they sent the acceptance and Lloyds are saying they have not received it, get FOS to send Lloyds an email of acceptance and get them to send you a copy, and then you can go back to Lloyds saying FOS have sent it and sent you a copy of the email, then they cannot deny it.
I have received my money in the bank today. Let me know how you get on0
