Just want to make sure on this really, if they say they are defending Cap One, then they are backing them, of if defending your complaint that should mean they agree with you and will uphold in your favour.

Was it a letter or word by mouth (on the phone)? x

they said they are defending the complaint, i phoned them today to chase the claim up, and thats what i was told

No it does not!!! to defend is to protect, looks like a no to me.
See what the reasons are and let us know what they say.

  • Just wanted to say a huge thank you to Money Saving Expert for all the excellent advice about PPI reclaiming.
I've successfully claimed back £928.20 from Lloyds TSB and have had the money deposited into my bank account today and all it took was ONE letter. I am thrilled, hopefully my other claims will go as smoothly !

    Thanks once again

A bad day yesterday as we had a rejection on my husband's Fraser card despite the form they sent to us as evidence clearly not being in his handwriting with just places marked for him to sign. He is claiming as he had pre-existing conditions.

But a good day this morning as Lloyds have offered him £1k for a card he had back in 2003. He has another 4 card claims with Lloyds so it looks promising. We also jointly have 15 loans so fingers crossed.

So far between us we have done the work ourselves using tips and forms for this site and have received 7k - not bad at all. We are hoping to emerge from this debt free and have well and truly learnt our lesson with credit. We are hoping 2012 is a transformational year!

    hi congratulations on your successes.
can you please let me know the address forAmerican Express, i also need to send off for my closed account. Thank you

Outstanding (letters/claims despatched earlier this week) are:
Egg (Credit Card) - now with Barclaycard so could get tricky
Lloyds TSB (Credit Card) - extremely confident on this one.
American Express (Credit Card) - letter went off today as I had forgotten about this closed account

    Once again, many thanks MSE.

AFTER READING ABOUT PPI ON MSE I PHONED THE NUMBER GIVEN FOR LLOYDS TSB, GAVE THE WOMAN MY DETAILS FOR LOANS I HAD TAKEN OUT, SHE TOLD ME THERE WAS PPI ON THEM AND THEY WOULD BE IN TOUCH. 5 WEEKS LATER I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM LLOYDS APOLOGISING ABOUT THE SITUATION AND THEY WERE OFFERING £5,993.49 FOR LOANS I TOOK OUT STARTING IN 2001 WHICH INCLUDED INTEREST AT 8% , OTHER INDIRECT LOSSES AND EARLY SETTLEMENT DIFFERENCES. ALL IT TOOK AS ONE PHONE CALL AND IM NEARLY SIX GRAND UP CHEERS MARTIN.:j

I also claimed against Lloyds TSB for PPI on a loan which I had taken out with them about 8 years ago. I simply filled in the questionnaire and again sent it to the address listed on this site. I had 1 phonecall from them to clarify a few details of my illness and sick period from work and have today received a letter from them and they have awarded me £12,382.30 in compensation, this includes refunds of all PPI payments and 8% interest. They have actually included every loan I took out with them over a 13 year period as they were all linked to one bank account.

I am ecstatic right now and would encourage anyone to do it!!!!:j:T:j:T:j:T

I am still awaiting a reply from Santander and Lloyds regarding Credit Card PPI claims too!!!

Well done on your success, this gives me so much hope, I am reclaiming PPI for several consolidation loans from 1996 - 2006 with Cooperative Bank with whom I have banked for 25 years so hopefully can be traced from my current account.
  • Hi all.

After my other half was hammered over the years with interest and PPI payments on both loans and credit cards it was a welcome relief when Northern Rock (now Virgin Money) contacted her with a claim form for PPI repayment ...plus interest. The forms were duly filled out and sent off. After one or two further questionaires over a couple of weeks she finally received an offer (inc. interest) of approximately £5,500. Wonderful!!...we thought. There was a promise (in writing) to have the money paid into her account by the end of March. End of March came and went ..but no payment. Upon enquiry (by telephone on the 3rd of April) they then said it would take another 7 to 10 days and it should be paid into her account by the 10th of April. It didn't arrive!. So another phone call, and they then explained the delay was because of the Easter weekend. They then promised to pay it in by the 13th ...and it was'nt!. Another phone call and this time they said that "The system was down"....and promised to call back on Monday the 16th.
Can I ask everyone who has been repaid if this is normal...or is it a delaying tactic?.
Or!?...are they going to pay back it at all!!??

    Many thanks.
