IT may be hard as payments are monthly not one up front. Also if you had bother loan prior to this, did it give the details on your letter from them? Good luck.

I received a letter back dated 30th March 12 saying that they have copied my file, sent it to be scanned and initiated the complaint. There is no mention on the letter about any loan numbers etc. only their reference and a direct contact number if I should wish to contact them. Do you think I should ring them to tell them re:potential consolidations of other loans or just leave them to carry out their full investigation.

Do not cancel this Insurance, wait for the outcome of your claim. If you cancel now the loan will be reset with no PPI and this could increase the term and APR.

They should look at loans that were consolidated with this one, if they do not then ask them to do this, see what response you get from them first.

If they were rolled over loans then each time you settled a loan you would have been given a rebate of PPI on the first loan, the remaining PPI would have been carried over to the next loan and so on, if you win redress they give you the PPI paid on each loan then will take the rebates of PPI off this.

You will get the PPI that you have paid with interest on those payments and 8%.
They do not give compensation, only in rare cases with mitigating circumstances.

    !

Is this life insurance or PPI that covers you for sickness redundancy etc?.

Since I've been digging into all of this I realise that I did have a credit card with HSBC before it got consolidated into my loan. I have absolutely nothing paperwork wise and have emailed HSBC to provide me with my old credit agreement and past statements for that, just in case that PPI on it too. If I had PPI on it I don't think I would be able to prove that it was mis-sold as it was donkeys ago. I'm guessing that they will ask to prove otherwise won't they?

If you do not get the info you asked for in the email, then you need to send a Sar to HSBC.

Ask for all info they hold on you,do not ask for anything specific, enclose £10 and give them 40 days to respond.

This should get you loans and cc you have had with them.
Look here for reasons for mis sell

If any/all apply to you, when you get the account numbers, then put the claims in.

I feel they have not got a leg to stand on as they have paid out on the last loan I took out to consolidate, do you not think?. Just shows how they just reject without looking into things and how different people uphold your claims
I'm not sure it's as simple as different people giving different results. The criteria they work to will be very strict, but if they haven't been furnished with information about a subsequent loan (and why would they?), each complaint will have been dealt with on it's own "merits".
I'm certain the final consolidation loan will have been "front-loaded" with the remainder of the other PPI policies and it will have been this which swung it in your favour.

Good luck with the remaining complaints...:)

  • Hi we are looking for some advice as we dont know what else to do. We got a credit card back in Apr 1999 on which we were charged PPI. I called the bank 6 weeks ago to start the claim back process.

We got a letter today saying they wasnt paying out because we ticked a box agreeing to PPI all them years ago not really knowing what PPI was, they have even sent a copy of the agreement showing the box we ticked!

Is it worth us speaking to the Ombudsman or are we chasing a lost cause?
Please help!! thanks in advance for any advice.

  • Are claims against the amount of credit, or the amount payable at the end?
    Awaiting first win!! :(
