  • Well, after spending the last few weeks first of all being confident that I had a case and then equally confident that I'd get precisely nothing, today I finally received a letter from HSBC with regard to the five loan consolidation chain I started with them in 2003

    My complaint was upheld!!!:j

My reasons for complaint were that I was pressured into accepting the PPI on the original loan and on each subsequent one. These policies were then front-loaded onto each consolidation, so effectively a loan-on-a-loan-on-a-loan!
On the most recent one (2007) I was told quite candidly that the loan wouldn't have been approved without PPI and that they had to set up a "special" policy because I wanted to pay back over 8 years.

All I did initially was visit this site and copy off a few questionnaires. I sent them three questionnaires originally because that was all I still had paperwork for. Imagine my surprise when I received a letter in reply detailing two other loans which I otherwise would not have complained about!!!

It was then that I joined this Forum (because I thought the two other loans weren't mine) and Cappo convinced me that not only were they mine, but the front-loading of them was a definite "win".

I sent off two other questionnaires, filled in very minimally (I didn't even know the dates of these) but with the same complaint reasons as the others..

Well, eight weeks later and I'm almost £20K better off.

Very great thanks to Cappo, Di2004, Amersall and the other regulars here.
Never fear, I'll still be around for advice to others in the same boat as I was. I don't know if I'll ever reach 55,000 posts, though!

:T:T:T This is fantastic news. Well done.
You have been so helpful. Enjoy:):):)

  • Hello , I am new to the forum, Although i have visited it from time to time to fine things out, hope this was allowed.
I came on too inspire people to claim if they feel they was missold a PPI.

I wrote off to Citifinancial exactly 8 weeks ago to the date , and today i had a letter saying both my claims had been upheld.
One is for 6,000 and the other is for 2,000.
I couldnt believe it,this will be such a help to us.

A little background to my case is we was sold the PPI even though we both had excellant sick cover from our employers. I was a staff nurse an my partner was a window fitter for a huge company.

I was diagnosed with breast cancer and did try too claim from the PPI when i was told my cancer had spread further and had to give up work. Only to be told by Citi that they had not covered me in the policy. Even though i had been told that i was covered. We was talked into taking it out as it would automaticaly mean acceptance with the loans.

So good luck to all who are waiting.

Forgive my punctuation an spelling error and blame the oramorph

thank you martin for putting this site on the net and letting people know what we can and cannot have and do.

    Hi all,
I'm new to this site. After reading all the inspirational posts it's spurred me to make claims for my PPI. I have sent 5 letters out today to complain about mid-sold PPI. I have worked for the NHS for the last 12 years and we have a very generous sickness package. None of the insurance I have would cover me should I fall ill. One of the companies actually told me that I could not have the loan without the insurance.

I'll keep you all updated on how I get on with time scales.

Well done to everyone who has been successful so far and fingers crossed for all those who are still waiting!

  • Hi everyone,

I haven't been in the forum long, but since joining I have got Back £184.00 from Lloyds on a £1,000 loan I took out ages ago. (The letter was sent off in january this year)

£184.00 may not seem like much but it's better than a poke in the eye! (A friend of mine has also managed to get over £4,000 returned to him).

I am currently in the thoes of trying to claim back bank charges of £700.00. and will let you know how I get on.

Good luck everyone and many thank you's to MSE. Couldn't have done it without you.
