Natwest insisted that we took PPI as the main income was mine, although I had 6 months full pay in the event of sickness. I paid the loan off in 2007 when I sold the house after his death. At first I thought that I was too late to claim, but realised that I was still PAYING the loan within the 6 years. Of course I had shredded all the paperwork. However I wrote to NATWEST and checked my credit report for details. After about 8 wks I received a reply, my letter back (?) and a form. As well as the form they asked for my husband's Death Certificate and the probate or letters of administration. I found it VERY traumatic to go back through everything, there was no probate - we never had enough of anything for it to be necessary. I have no recollection of whether it was front-loaded, how much of the money was loan and how much PPI, the starting balance was £32,244. I sent the form, the death cert, a copy of my original letter and a covering letter of on 26/03/12. As they took 8 weeks to reply to the first, I imagine they will do so again, but does anyone have any advice/comments?
Hello there Jean & welcome
So so sorry of the sad loss of your beloved husband, what an awful time it must have been for you and with them raising things up you could do without right now.
What I would do in your case is call into your local branch, when you have time or when passing, they should be able to check the details for you.
Normally with banks they add the ppi onto the loan with interest so this is the same as front loaded, as the ppi would be paid for within the loan repayments.
If you've not done so yet, and this applies to you with your reasons, I would go ahead and make a reclaim by completing the reclaim questionnaire as below, send to them, remember to keep a copy for yourself as well.

I do hope this resolves very soon for you, and meanwhile maybe others on here will have some suggestions for you.
The very best of luck x;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -

I've had 2 loans upheld and the third one they said they had no paperwork or information on this loan as it was old, but they supplied me with the loan number when I first made my complaint, I didn't remember having this loan. Plus they are not upholding my mortgage ppi complaint as they don't think it was mis-sold, how can they say I was mis-sold on the loans but not the mortgage. Sent back a letter today asking them to reconsider. If it's not upheld I'm contacting FOS. What is really annoying me is.... How come everyone that is getting a rejection letter don't seem to receive their letter, it always gets lost in the post. Will keep you informed about the reply to my second letter.0 -
Hi,
Just to let you know I have three on going cases: the first with barclaycard, who have three days till their deadline for reply with decision, one with mbna, who after one letter sent me a cheque for £5100 pound...... and I had to read the letter four times for it to sink in!!
I have now had one back from halifax credit card refusing my claim on the basis it was applied on 1999, that the ppi was applied when I activated the card, and that I could afford it along with it being appropiate, even though I already had accident sickness and red cover through my bank and 12 months of sick pay through job. The prob is that I cannot find the policy for this, but pointed it out at the time and was still encouraged to take the insurance...
Whats the best way no to go forward, write back to halifax asking them to reconsider or go to FOS??0 -

omg omg omg.
I recieved a letter from hsbc to say my complaint had been up held!!!! £4200!!!
All i did was call them to ask for my loan account numbers. to which the csa said is it to do with ppi? To which i replied yes. "leave it with me ill lodge your complaint" they replied.
That is it, no phone calls asking why or questionaires.
I have to take my id into a local branch and send my acceptance form off.
I'm still in shock.
thanks to all that post as without it i wouldn't have claimed
P.s any one know how long for them to process payment. They have asked for a nominated bank account.

Being a bit nosey here but, When did you phone? (how long did the whole process take)
How far back did your PPi go? (was it over 6 years ago)
I'm waiting on a reply from HSBC0 -
A quick summary of my situation. After following the advice on here I went to my local branch of Lloyds and requested a list of all products that I've had with them over the years. They had to get it from their old computer systems so it took a couple of days. I got the list and there were 3 loans which had PPI insurance added to them. I've got some bits of paperwork for 2 of them but not for the third.
I've filled in 3 copies of the questionaiire and attached copies of paperwork where I had it. For the third loan i've just attached a copy of the printout from the bank which says 'loan with insurance' and has a product number.
I'll post them recorded delivery tomorrow. Fingers crossed and I'll post an update with any developments.
I had tried phoning the call center before visiting my branch but they were a bit hopeless to be honest - couldnt find any records of loans with PPI in my name then passed me through to another department which eneded up being a short recorded message which then cut me off.
A couple of quick questions:
1) How long have people waited to get a response from Lloyds?
2) Is the interest paid on refunds compound or simple?
Thanks again in advance0 -
