  • I received a cheque from the Halifax for £2213.41 after filling out the form on Martins site. The total amount i got back was over £3500.00 but as i had an outstanding balance they just cleared it. The whole process took only a matter of weeks i wish i had done it earlier, and all my own work no money grabbing PPI claims companies were used, I would advise anyone with an outstanding loan to apply it only cost me the price of a stamp.:money:

I have an MBNA Credit card, I cancelled the PPI on it in Nov 05 but have a statement that shows I was paying in in 2001. I cannot remember when the account started - how do I claim? and would I have a valid claim?

    Any advice appreciated - Thanks

I rang MBNA as I was not sure when I started my credit card with them, it was an A&L one at first and then MBNA took it over. They told me over the phone when it started and started the claim by phone, was told someone would call, no one did but they gave me back all my PPI payments . So just ring them and ask for details. Good Luck.

I don't say that lightly. Debt is a soul destroying thing.
For the first time in my adult life i feel i can breath.

Dont suffer in silence. Hardest thing i ever had to do was tell the wife. But she is my hero how she supported me:T

I can so relate to this post, many years ago at the trough of my debt-Laden life things got very dark and some thoughts went through my mind for some time.....

Looking back to those days now it seems almost laughable that I could let such a (relatively) small amount of debt make me think those things

If you're going through anything near what i was going through back then, do As Harty says "Don't suffer in silence"... Talk to someone, anyone.

Made I claim back in January for a loan I currently have with Natwest/RBS and on Saturday finally received a letter offering me £8,100.

On the same day I received a letter from Natwest saying that my loan repayments have been brought down from £600 a month to £551 a month (basically deducting the PPI from future repayments) and I have been credited a rebate for £1494 which has been applied to the balance of the loan.

Bit confused by this. Does the £8100 also get applied to the loan balance (currently £16K) or sent to me as cheque? And does the £1494 rebate get deducted from the £8100 - their paperwork doesn't really make this clear.

Either way, very happy to have this back and glad I didn't go down the PPI claim company route - just took me a couple of letter thanks to this site.
    Thank you very much!

Will now go after other credit cards that I'm sure I had PPI on.

If the PPI is sold by a broker the lender bears no liability for the mis-selling unless the credit agreement is regulated. In the case of a regulated agreement Section 56 of the Consumer Credit Act will often make the lender liable for antecedent negotiations by the broker.

Strictly speaking this is true. However, if the sale was on or after 14 January 2005 there is no point in taking this route because if the intermediary (or the firm they represented) still exists, you can go to FOS or, if it does not, to the Financial Services Compensation Scheme.

Prior to that in theory it will work - but only if you can prove a missale, and probably that you can prove it to the satisfaction of a court, not just FOS.

Another success for me, Bank of Scotland who ran my Sainsbury's bank loans have refunded me over £7K. One form from this site and within the 8 week period. Cheque not here yet but they say it will be soon. Thanks again Martin and all the people who help on here. Will soon be debt free and having a holiday for the first time in about 4 years.:j
