I called them at the begining of march, using there telephone banking number. My loans were over 6 years old, which is why im in shock as i thought id be told its too late.
I got a letter last week saying they were looking into it. Then i got this letter today.
Best of luck with your complaint!

    Well done !

    I have my fingers crossed.

A quick summary of my situation. After following the advice on here I went to my local branch of Lloyds and requested a list of all products that I've had with them over the years. They had to get it from their old computer systems so it took a couple of days. I got the list and there were 3 loans which had PPI insurance added to them. I've got some bits of paperwork for 2 of them but not for the third.
I've filled in 3 copies of the questionaiire and attached copies of paperwork where I had it. For the third loan i've just attached a copy of the printout from the bank which says 'loan with insurance' and has a product number.
I'll post them recorded delivery tomorrow. Fingers crossed and I'll post an update with any developments.
I had tried phoning the call center before visiting my branch but they were a bit hopeless to be honest - couldnt find any records of loans with PPI in my name then passed me through to another department which eneded up being a short recorded message which then cut me off.
    A couple of quick questions:
    1) How long have people waited to get a response from Lloyds?
    2) Is the interest paid on refunds compound or simple?

    Thanks again in advance :)

    Hello there

Wishing you luck on all your reclaiming.

First of all I would just like to state that there were a few older loans I taken out mid 90's, the paperwork confirmed ppi but I did not have the actual calculations and nor did they, but in these cases they normally come back with a goodwill gesture of a standard offer of £1200 on each one (where they no longer hold the details but are aware you were sold PPI).;)

You should receive a confirmation letter within a week or 2 at most, and from there they will say they have 8 weeks as from when they first received your complaint.
If they need more time they will write to let you know.

They did have a backlog to get through, but it appears they are trying to keep within the timescales now and if not earlier.

There is a link below to explain how the FOS calculate PPI for loans and credit cards, which gives clear details, so basically if the bank uphold your complaint they follow the same guidelines as the FOS.
Hope this helps and fingers crossed.;)

  • :TDear Martin and all at MoneysavingExert, I just wanted to thank you for your website which encouraged me to pursue a PPI claim against MBNA. I discovered by accident during a call to MBNA that I had PPI on credit cards I had with them. It turned out I've been paying for years. MBNA said they investigated and told me that I had no claim - however they did not even ask about my circumstances. I am employed and already have payment protection via my work and via a separate vehicle (and have done for years).
I thought that I probably didn't have a case but having read the advice on the website decided to pursue through the Ombudsman (and no I didn't bother with a claim agent). I kind ofnforgot about it until a letter came through from MBNA with a cheque enclosed for over £20,000 - true!
Needless to say I'm super happy. It turned out I'd paid about £6000 in PPI over the years and the interest added up to £14000+ over the years I'd had the card.
So persevere people, you shall overcome!!
  • I have to post this as i have recently claimed for mis sold PPI with MBNA dating back over 12 years ago. I had no account numbers just my previous address where my credit card account was registered.
I used your PPI template offering very little info other than my name, date of birth and previous address which i left 12 years ago
Two weeks later i received a letter confirming they were investigating my complaint. A further two weeks later a letter apologising for the delay and today a letter arrived confirming my complaint is being upheld and a cheque will be sent within 28 days...... £11,130 !!!!!
Thanks for all the advice on this site and thanks MBNA for making this incredible offer :j

    1) How long have people waited to get a response from Lloyds?

They are a devil to deal with !.
    2) Is the interest paid on refunds compound or simple?

The PPI monthly payment includes the interest so you get this back and 8% on a decreasing scale from the start of the loan to the date of redress.
