Here you are, they are part of HSBC.

Do not put the spaces, I have done this as sometimes it is taken off by the forum.

    Quick question.

Is it possible to claim on behalf of someone who has passed away? I inherited the house from my late-father.

    Thanks,

    Hi there

Sorry to hear about the passing of your loved one.

To what I am aware of I "think" this can be done, although they may ask for documentation such as a copy of the death certificate etc, but hopefully someone can clarify on this one for you, or please expand your post on a separate/new thread within these ppi reclaiming forums for individual help, and subject/title it something like this " PPI Reclaim/Deceased"

Hope that is ok for you, but hopefully you should receive the correct advice on this actual one where others may have been in the same position.

I will add the new thread below for you, the best of luck.

Looks like I got my answer in the FAQ:

Can I reclaim PPI if the policyholder has died (eg, parent / husband / wife)?

Yes. Any monies owed become part of their estate, so the person who inherits is entitled to reclaim. If there's no will this follows the rules of intestacy, see HMRC. Yet it's worth noting there may be problems proving what happened at the time of the sale if only the policyholder was present.

Cool, looks like you have found it yourself then, well done!:T

To reclaim, as long as you have the account number and of course the reasons, simply just complete the reclaim questionnaire below and send to the one's responsible for setting up up/selling it, keep copies as well for future reference.

    Fingers crossed.

    Link to reclaim questionnaire here....

  • Hi, has anyone had any success with rejection from egg cc when they have sent it to the fos? My rejection from egg states I ticked the box online and it was a non advised sale as it was online, they state in the letter that insurance started jam 2007 but my credit report has my account starting jan 2004 so I think it was pre-ticked box as I would never have knowingly have asked for it, would it be worth sending a copy of my credit report to the fos to confirm start date with the questionnaire, any advice would be appreciated, thanks michelle

Well, after spending the last few weeks first of all being confident that I had a case and then equally confident that I'd get precisely nothing, today I finally received a letter from HSBC with regard to the five loan consolidation chain I started with them in 2003

    My complaint was upheld!!!:j

My reasons for complaint were that I was pressured into accepting the PPI on the original loan and on each subsequent one. These policies were then front-loaded onto each consolidation, so effectively a loan-on-a-loan-on-a-loan!
On the most recent one (2007) I was told quite candidly that the loan wouldn't have been approved without PPI and that they had to set up a "special" policy because I wanted to pay back over 8 years.

All I did initially was visit this site and copy off a few questionnaires. I sent them three questionnaires originally because that was all I still had paperwork for. Imagine my surprise when I received a letter in reply detailing two other loans which I otherwise would not have complained about!!!

It was then that I joined this Forum (because I thought the two other loans weren't mine) and Cappo convinced me that not only were they mine, but the front-loading of them was a definite "win".

I sent off two other questionnaires, filled in very minimally (I didn't even know the dates of these) but with the same complaint reasons as the others..

Well, eight weeks later and I'm almost £20K better off.

Very great thanks to Cappo, Di2004, Amersall and the other regulars here.
Never fear, I'll still be around for advice to others in the same boat as I was. I don't know if I'll ever reach 55,000 posts, though!

I started my claim with Sainsbury's bank 8th of March, so we are still in the 8 week period....It's for a loan from 2005, which the PPI amounted £2.6k

Thanks to this site I've had the right armoury to mount the attack myself, so thanks for that :)

First thing that suprised me is that it was RBS that have responded to me, as nowhere in the original paperwork/documentation is RBS mentioned.....actually, that's the second thing that suprised me as they'd managed to send the letter to my old adress using a bizarre composite adress (1st line and post code of my old adress but the middle lines of my current adress).....I rang them to put this right (despite my actual adress being on the top of my complaint letter!), but to my mind it doesn't bode well for the future of the claim.

I've not heard anything yet some 5 weeks later- I'm pretty convinced that I have a case (as I was 'sold' to on the telephone and can distinctly recall the conversation that suggested I wouldn't be approved without PPI) but I'm also convinced I'll get naff all out of them..... Just call it a gut feeling- I thoroughly expect at the end of 8 weeks to get the heave-ho :(

Excellent news, well done and an old case/account too, just goes to show doesn't it? They don't all have to be within recent years.

Congratulations to you and well deserved too.

    Hi Michelle

So sorry to hear of the rejection of your complaint.

I take it this was a decision made by the adjudicator/FOS?

If so and if the first decision you can ask for it to be reviewed by the ombudsman. They should mention this on the letter, if not then you can ring them and tell them you want your case reviewed by the ombudsman himself, and try to forward any extra information you may have.

I understand an online purchase complaint are more difficult to deal with but depending on what your reasons were and what reasons they gave on rejection, you need to go further and insist with any evidence/info you may have that even if it were an online purchase you still believe you were mis sold.

With some online purchases, it may have been missed that it was pre-ticked, where in small print somewhere it states about opting out, this can be easily missed, or it may have been the fact that the application would not allow you to proceed with the application unless ppi was applied for etc.
However, if you already had cover in place at the time maybe elsewhere, employer or another stand alone insurance company, you then need to state why should you want another if you get my drift.

Do give the FOS a call, because if you do not agree with their decision and its not yet been onto the ombudsman stage, you can request for this.

Please correct me if I got this all wrong.

    Good luck.

Also to add, yes any paperwork you have then send them copies which may help.

If this does not apply to the FOS as I said above, then do so with EGG, if they fail to overturn this, then complain to the FOS, give EGG say about 14 days, if you hear nothing then complain to FOS.
