Are claims against the amount of credit, or the amount payable at the end?
You don't "claim" any amount. You complain on the basis that the insurance policy was mis-sold to you.
If upheld, you should receive back the insurance premiums you have paid up to the current date with an additional element of 8% taxable interest.
  • Ok, thanks.

I was mis sold it on a car finance, was told I couldn't complete the car finance without getting the PPI protection.
    Awaiting first win!! :(
  • Having a quick read through, I notice not many mentions in recent posts of NATWEST, has anyone any experience of them - speed of reply etc?

Still stunned by some of the sums being reclaimed.

Just wondering if anybody knows what Lloyds PPI mean when they say im red flagged ?? seems every time i ring up now im red flagged and they cant wait to get me off the phone .. 13th week and still no further forward ..
actually found 2 loans i took out with them , both with PPI , but not sure if to notify them till this is 1 is sorted ....

ANDY325 I have learned very quickly, you have to be very very persistant with lloyds. Last week I got a letter stating there was no PPI on loans I am claiming for. I knew this not to be true so hounded them with emails and phone calls, and low and behold they found the PPI policies. Make sure all your personal details are correct, they wouldnt deal with me as my current address was different to previous address where I lived when loans were taken out. I sent them proof of new address etc. Always be polite though when dealing with them, seems to work, can be difficult at times i know....

Just something which may be of interest to people claiming against Lloyds. Over 4 weeks ago my local Lloyds supposedly faxed my claim through to their PPI department.

I heard nothing, so I went to my local branch. It turns out that for some reason the fax was rejected by the system (don't know how) and the cashier had filed it as being sent. So, it has now been re-sent (I also asked for a copy, which I was given).

Therefore, if a local Lloyds branch (and possibly other banks) have made a claim on your behalf and have said they will fax it through and you have heard nothing, not even an acknowledgement letter, then it would be worth chasing-it up, at that branch. Also, I was told that I could 'phone the PPI department from the branch itself (this is how I found out nothing had been received) - so if you are having problems claiming PPI, why use your own home 'phone if you can use the bank's? Plus, if there are any problems you are at the bank, so can find out more. (Of course, not all banks may let you use their 'phone - but there is no harm in asking.)

    Hi Jean

Throughout the threads there are a mixture of lots of banks etc, and the ones below too where Natwest have been reclaimed against many many times.

I have never actually had dealings with them myself, but they do from what I know of, confirm your complaint within approx a week and as they have a timescale like all banks to give a final decision by the 8th weeks as from when they first receive the complaint, they should keep within those timescales.

If they do require more time, they must write to confirm.;) x

Thank you, my reason for concern is that I had to send Col's Death Certificate and it was the last one I have (you need so many), sent on 26th March

Your case sounds exactly the same as mine even down to the dates!
I received a letter from FOS at the end of Feb stating the same and it also said that Lloyds have advised a total of eight weeks to calculate the refund with interest etc and to make the payment. I posted on this forum a couple of days ago to enquire whether anyone had been through the same scenario and Di kindly told me that she had, and that the refund was made during this period however I think there is still significant delays for others.
In terms of your question as to who to contact, I was told by the FOS that all dealings would need to be done with Lloyds now that they have agreed to uphold the complaint so the ball is back in their court however if you have any concerns regarding the timeframe to which they are working or if you're not happy with what's in the offer letter when it (finally!) arrives, you can contact the FOS for them to become involved again.

    Hope this helps.

Just an update for you and anyone else who has gone to the FOS with Lloyds, I have today spoken to FOS and I am getting my refund finally, after speaking to lloyds and FOS as fos were saying they sent there spreadsheet 7th march but lloyds saying they never received it. I asked FOS to send them an email confirming acceptance and I got them to send me a copy of this. So the next day I phoned lloyds saying FOS have sent it and they still said they havent received it but I quoted you have coz I have a copy of the email that was sent to you and asked her to make a note of this on the account. A day later FOS phoned me and said Lloyds have received it and were sending the calculations which I have now received.
Will let you know when I get payment as they said they were paying into my account.

Contact them and ask that they copy the Certificate and return the original ASAP, why would they not accept a copy?, get this back before they lose it.

On your advice I rang, I have just been told that "they have no record of having received anything from me" I pointed out that they had written to me (02/03/12) and requested the Certified Death Certificate, along with a covering letter and a form for completion, so I had to be on a record somewhere. "Oh that would be a different department", so I asked why not look on the computer to see whether the letter was recorded, but they do not have access to other departments records. I have insisted on a manager call-back. Will update!!!
