Call them, give them details of the name and address you were under at the time and hopefully they should be able to look you up. I did all my credit card/loan claims by phone apart from one.0 -
Just got my letter from the Halifax, and an offer of over £3000 for PPI. Didnt think it would work as the loan was over 6 years finished but was linked to a second loan repaid 5 years ago. So don't be put off by the 6 year rule - it worked for me.
For the cost of two stamps, a cheque is on its way. Credit cards not playing ball and refusing to give information but I am so happy about the loan.
Thank you MSE for being brilliant. I couldnt have done it without you.
Thats brilliant news!!! can I just ask how long it took for them to sort it out for you? I've got a claim in with Halifax for a loan and I'm getting impatient now0 -
Hiya,
I was on my experian credit check and came across a loan from Northern Rock I took out in 2007 for 12 months.
I'd forgotten I had even taken this out!
As Northern Rock have been taken over by Virgin, I am assuming that it will be difficult to get the paperwork?
I have managed to get hold of my bank statements from 2007 and it does show DD's to Northern Rock.
Would they still have this info on their database?
Any advice on what to do would be much appreciated.

What were you reclaiming: I was re-claiming PPI from a loan
Who was the provider: The provider was Barclaycard
How much did you get back: Just over £12,000
Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: I recieved my claimback after sending a letter to Barclays bank
Just after the new year 2012 I decided to send off my claim to Barclays to request a refund on PPI on my bank loans which included was a defaulted one. These dated back right to 1999, although my defaulted one was still active I did not think I had a chance. I recieved a letter today to say I was succesful & a cheque was enclosed which was more than I was expecting. This has now paid off my loan :jand left me with money to spend. I did luckily have my policy numbers & I used the template from Martins :money:website & urge anyone to try as it is not had to fill out & saves you using a comapany who will charge the earth for a cut. Thanks Martin & to Rod at work for pusing me to do it :T0 -
I have received a rejection from MBNA saying they are not upholding my complaint as I went through the online application where it would be clear that PPI was a separate policy and that I clicked the 'yes' box - this was on 10/07 however they have sent back the signed credit agreement which I signed on 20/07 and the boxes where it 'strongly recommends' that I take out PPI are both unchecked (yes and no) do I still have a claim as this is surely part of the 'cooling off' period and that I have chosen not to take out the PPI? any advice would be welcome.
Issy I had the same rejection so went to the FOS in november. Claiming that I did not require the PPI and it was a pre-ticked box. FOS upheld my complaint in January and 2 weeks ago I received a cheque for 16K. Don't back down and keep at it.0 -
Hi all.
My husband spoke to MBNA today, they said there is a letter in the post but his claim has been refused since he apparently ticked the online box when he applied. He doesnt remember doing so and it would have been a waste of his money as he was self employed.
Is it worth a trip to the ombudsman at all??????
Take it to the FOS I did and I said that I be-leave they used a pre-ticked box. Claim was upheld by the FOS. MBNA paid out 16K0 -
