What were you reclaiming. PPI on secured loan.
Who was the provider. HFC
How much did you get back. £6274.88
After letter or via the Ombudsman. 1 phonecall and Ombudsmans letter
Breif tale. I saw this site and read averything I could about PPI reclaiming and then had a go myself.
I couldn't believe it when, after a phone call and their Ombudsmans form, and about a month going by I got a letter saying they had upheld my complaint and would deposit the amount in my account.:D No mess, no fuss. Haven't got the money yet, just waiting.
Go on, you know you want to so why don't you? DIY PPI reclaiming, I mean;)
Regards and thanks for the advice from this forum.
not so very, anymore

I popped into Lloyds today regarding a loan I took out in 1997 (I had not kept any paperwork). The kind lady behind the counter looked up the details I gave her. She then filled a form out on my behalf to reclaim PPI and will fax it through to PPI claims. It took all of five minutes. It omits the stress of doing it yourself and you don't need a SAR. It is certainly worth going to your local bank and seeing how they can help!0

Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: Sent in the template form to my lender who inturn passed the details onto the Financial Services Compensation Scheme.
And then write your brief reclaim tale: I took out a secured loan for £55k in 2005 . About four weeks later I had a cheque sent to my loan provider and I have knocked over £11,600 quid of my outstanding loan balance at a single blow. This means I will be able to clear my debts much faster and get back onto an even keel much faster. To anybody still thinking about making a claim I would say go for it, you only have a bit of time and a stamp to loose, but everything to gain. Good Luck!
Quick Q - did you choose to have the cheque sent to your loan provider rather than returned to you direct? I can't remember if that was an option on my Picture paperwork, and would rather have the money to pay off other, higher interest debts than knocking it off the existing loan.0 -
Hi all.
My husband spoke to MBNA today, they said there is a letter in the post but his claim has been refused since he apparently ticked the online box when he applied. He doesnt remember doing so and it would have been a waste of his money as he was self employed.
Is it worth a trip to the ombudsman at all??????0 -
I have received a rejection from MBNA saying they are not upholding my complaint as I went through the online application where it would be clear that PPI was a separate policy and that I clicked the 'yes' box - this was on 10/07 however they have sent back the signed credit agreement which I signed on 20/07 and the boxes where it 'strongly recommends' that I take out PPI are both unchecked (yes and no) do I still have a claim as this is surely part of the 'cooling off' period and that I have chosen not to take out the PPI? any advice would be welcome.
hi did you get the same letter as me look on page 1327? because i think they said the same to me, can you please let me know so i can get in touch. thanks dean0 -
Hi
Had to post as have FINALLY received a reply from Barclaycard for cc PPI after emailing Bob Diamond about the length of time the process was taking. They have rejected claim as it was a postal application and to quote the letter "I positively selected the product" and "Our Customer Service Department do not give PPI advice over the telephone and would have put you through to our Telephone Sales Department who would have completed the cc application with you over the telephone, and where appropriate, recommend PPI cover"
Funny enough they rejected my Egg cc complaint as they can't find my policy number. Have sent away for a SAR as I definetely had this on my EGG card as I remember calling to cancel!!!
This is by far the worst bank that I have had to deal with for excuses, delays etc.
Barclaycard cc was final response (I did have my policy for this one) but can take to FOS.
Sorry it's such a long post.0 -
Just received word from Lloyds I will receive £8k back from being miss sold PPI on two personal loans I have had with them.
I filled in the templates and sent them off, within 6 weeks I have received back an apology and my money.
My complaint was I was never made aware the cover was optional and my loan application did not rely on me taking the cover.
4 hours of reading, template filling and posting well spent!
Thank your for all you help!0 -
What were you reclaiming: credit card
Who was the provider: Halifax BOS
How much did you get back: £4481
Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: Payment received today after 1 letter. FOS questionnaire downloaded from this site
And then write your brief reclaim tale
Was given this website info by my boss and thought I had no chance of claiming for loans/cc as I knew I had PPI but didn't think anything of it. however after reading the posts on here (right back to the beginning) I realised that I might have a claim as on all loan applications and cc, bank had advised me to take the insurance even though I had cover elsewhere. Have sent off a total of 5 letters (3 loans, 1 cc and 1 preference account). These were all posted on 6th and 9th of February 2012 and I received replies to all of them within 4 weeks stating that I should have a reply within 8 weeks. Arrived home this evening to find a letter from Halifax enclosing a cheque for £4481 :j:j:j:j:j:j but with no explaination. I can't believe how simple this process was and would urge anyone thinking of claiming to DO IT YOURSELF - DO NOT USE A CLAIMS COMPANY. As soon as the money clears in my bank I am clearing off the credit card and cutting it up in to hundreds of pieces. Oh to be older and wiser - never again will I get in debt.
Much appreciation and thanks to all posters on this website for all the information and encouragement to take the first steps. MARTIN LEWIS IS FANTASTIC:T0 -

My letter was the same up until the point where they talk about the UK residence and other means of being able to to continue payments in the events of unemployment etc. I have called them today to question the fact that on the credit agreement I had not selected the yes box to take the insurance although I had apparently ticked the online boxes (can't remember doing so!) the guy I spoke to was really helpful and even phoned me back while they loooked into and he did with good news they are now upholding my complaint and processing the offer etc, so I would definitely get in touch and give it a go - hope this helps and good luck!0 -
Get back in touch and tell them the about the unticked boxes on the agreement, ask them to look at the claim again or you will take this to FOS.
Thanks for the advice - I got back in touch and they have acknowledged the discrepency (as they called it) and are now in the process of generating the offer and cheque etc!0
