PPI Reclaiming successes and failures

  • I just want to say thank you to everyone who has posted here in the PPI forum offering advice and encouragement. Two weeks ago I got a letter from Lloyds TSB telling me my complaint had been upheld, offering me £2389.50 in redress. Then today, I received a letter from Citi Financial regarding my other loan - this has also been upheld, and a cheque for £1549.71 is on its way shortly!

These two payments, when they come through, will go a hell of a way towards clearing my debts, and really do lift a burden from my shoulders.

To anyone thinking about making a claim, what are you waiting for? Don't bother with the vulture-like claims companies - DIY, it's cost me a total of about £3, the cost of two recorded letters to initiate my claims.

    Thanks again :beer::j:beer::j

    Hi guys,

I just had a letter through from Natwest saying they'd looked at my loan account as requested, and I have 2500 worth of PPI on it. I'm going to try and claim that back, do I simply write a letter to them?

And secondly, I've had 2 loans and a credit card with Lloyds TSB but can't remember any of the details, is it possible to write to them and ask them to check all my previous loans and cards for PPI? Is there a template letter I can use for that?

    Thanks :)

Hi we called llyods tsb in jan on their ppi help line, We had no details of any loans they found the one we had called about plus a further 10 and 2 credits cards all were upheld!!! Definately call them :)

THANK-YOU Badger. Enjoy your money, are you going to do something special with it? I'm putting mine towards buying my Motability car at the end of her lease.

Will be clearly our debt and then saving the rest towards our future home

Hi Yes, all through Lloyds, been using them since mid 1990's. It was one of their employees who gave me account numbers and told me I had nothing to lose...I dug out my credit file today and have found the amount of the loan one of the ones we still awaiting but couldnt find the other one, but they are the ones who have said *sorry this has happened will will investigate and contact you shortly*

Lloyds for us have paid out very quickly, someone mentioned a date the interest is calculated up till, the first ones we had come back paid out at least 10 days before that date.
The one I heard about on Thurs had a date of 29th March...so I hope that will be the same.

I still have some non lloyds claims to put it, the one I am really quite cross about it Littlewoods because I remember asking to cancel their *shopping ins* and being told it came with the account and to cancel it, I had to pay off balance and close my account. I have had that catalogue since I was 18 and I am now 42. They will be receiving a letter In April.

Good luck with the ones you are waiting on, are they all Lloyds too? you will have a lovely surprise if they are, I understand they are paying out without too much arguement x

Hi got our offer letters this morning not far off your offer so over the moon

I'd like to get started with this, I just don't know where to start! I've read that you need to write to them with as much information as possible. I wrote to Natwest and they sent me a letter back saying I had 2500 ppi, but I haven't got any details of the loan agreement number or anything.

What do I put in the letter?
    • What were you reclaiming: loan x3
    • Who was the provider: HSBC
    • How much did you get back: £4169.58
    • Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: FOS questionnairre x3 direct to the bank.
    • And then write your brief reclaim tale - I knew a couple of people who had successfully reclaimed missold PPI. I was aware that i was missold but thought that it was far too long ag. 3 loans from 2000, 2001 and 2003, consolodating each time and paid off in Feb 2004. However, came across this forum and the many successful claims, some from the mid nineties gave me the confidence to proceed. I was missold PPI as i was encouraged to by the bank as without it my application may not have been successful. I was young and desparate at the time and went along with it despite being in a job that paid 6 months full and 6 months half pay for sickness. Absolutely made up with this as child no.2 is due in 14 weeks. Thanks to all posters for keeping my spirits up!!!:beer::beer: and good luck to those still waiting!
