PPI Reclaiming successes and failures

What were you reclaiming:A loan
Who was the provider: Sainsburys Bank
How much did you get back: £2502.36
Refund of Premiums £ 608.36
Refund of Interest £ 209.32
Early Settlement Diff £1,296.83
Interest @ 8% £ 387.85
Total £2502.36
Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: I requested a copy of my credit agreement on 20th January, upon receipt I noticed that there was a pre ticked box for PPI and I remember at the time they insisted that they had a courier service wait while you signed the documents and then handed over your cheque. I therefore filled out a template form from here a few days later, stating that I signed where indicated as I felt under pressure not to take too long as someone was waiting at my door.
I received a standard letter acknowledging my complaint on 13th February- Letter with response on 6th March.
Interest payment up to 3rd April so I assume I won't be receiving a payment before then.
Not too sure I understand the Early settlement difference? I did pay it off early, does that indicate that I was charged for a % of the total PPI when I cleared my loan? Can anyone advise? Just for clarity more than anything else.
Thanks to everyone for the info on this site it really is fab :T:T. I have 3 other claims out at the moment, 1 with Tesco (response due by the EOM) and 2 With Egg. They won't be for a lot but it all helps.
Hope you get yours quicker than me, mine was supposed to be paid by 14th December...still not received it... went to FOS last week and got a phonecall saying I would have a cheque within 7-10 working days...still not come...am waiting in anticipation0 -
started our ppi journey in sept 2011 have had success in all claims up to now and within the timescale set by the courts.
all we have left now is a mortgage sure claim which an answer is due in the next two weeks.
Has anybody out there had a successful claim from lloydstsb for mortgage sure?
thanks for a great site martin .0 -
You could try a Sar although this may not get the info you need, it is worth a try though.
It is a fair offer with no proof on either side of this ppi and also due to the years they were taken out.
As this is a goodwill gesture they do not pay you the 8% so you will not pay tax on this, the whole £1000 is for redress for the loans only.
Thanks Amersall,
I will phone them up to give me time to try a SAR.
However, I wanted to tell them to use my own average settlement rather than their own average.
The resaon is that on my two other Loans, I have today received an offer of £5000 for the Loan taken out in 2000 and an offer of £1800 for that taken out in 1999.
Could I not argue with the FOS or firstly with the bank that these 2 settlements provides them with enough information with which to calculate an average per Loan rather than apply their own average compensation?
Surely everyone's case is not the same and it would be too easy to get away by claiming they have no details therefore £1200 is all they will offer per Loan.
I will call them now and ask for more time to request SAR as well as offer they use my personal compensation average rather than LTSB average. This I hope will be a fair deal.0 -
Would someone know if there was normally a ppi attached to Loans secured on a mortgage.
I borrowed an additinal £45k from my mortgage Lenders (Abbey) in Sept. 2002 and this appears as Lona 2 on my mortgage statement.
However, when I asked them if a ppi was attched they responded that they cannot find any proof of ppi. This borrowing was done over the phone, so I have no paperwork.
When I wrote to them to send me the Loan agrrement, all they sent is the agreement for the initial mortgage (Loan 1), and nothing for Loan 2.
I am requesting for a SAR just to convince myself that I was not paying for something I didn't know about.
Thanks all for your help.0 -
Was amzingly simple. Noticed I was still paying PPI on my MBNA card and this had been previously credit cards with Alliance and Leicester before takeover.
Phoned to MBNA to say didnt understand why I was paying PPI and could they cancel it. Also advised that it was with Alliance and Leicester previously and I had statements of proof to show was paying as far back as 2007.
They did all the work of tracing payments and I didnt have to fill in a single form. This was about a month ago and today I get a nice cheque for £2400.:j0 -
2001 and 2002 loans from First Direct just received gesture of goodwill offers of full refunds plus 8% interest another £1k in my account
Now claims company involved this time0 -
Hi all, got a question for you?
I went to a ppi claiming company gave them all the accounts I had records for but they came back to say No PPI and didnt think anymore of it! However Lloyds Tsb then checked all loan and credit card accounts I've had with them way back to 1999 and came back with an offer of £20,232 which is amazing !
But here is the problem the PPI company are saying they want their 25% commission even though they had not been given these acccounts by me to chase, it was Lloyds Tsb themselves that checked my history and found out about my long lost accounts! Do I have to pay the PPI company as they didnt chase those account numbers and the one I did give they said I had no PPI claims on???
??? Please help !!!???0 -
